Bedroom locked

Windows locked

Drapes drawn.

I checked again for the tenth time, before I stepped into the shower to clean myself up, this was a huge mistake and in the morning everyone would know that someone killed him.

The rumors would begin.

I could not sleep all night, when a knock filled my house, I felt like my heart was about to step out of my heart when I glanced at the door, my mind filled with fear as I reached for the door.

“Bella it’s me.” I heard a familiar voice and I wiped the tears that fell against my cheek.

“What are you doing here?”

“Geez Bella I came to check up on you, that’s what good friends do since you can’t check up on me or what I do.” Beth smiled and I rolled my eyes at her as she settled on the couch.

“I am just a bit paranoid.”

“That boss of yours needs to start giving you a lot of breaks Bella, it doesn’t make sense you are working all of the time.” Beth said. “Are you not meant to be at work.”

“I am giving myself a little break, look at me, I need sleep.” I laughed, I badly needed someone to be here and she has not mentioned the dead body, didn’t she see while coming here, or at least see the cops around the place.

I didn’t dare ask.

I watched as she started to blabber about how she hates my work when I looked away from her.

“I came here for a reason and not to hate on Mathew, tomorrow is the engagement party and I don’t want to listen to any excuses, I came to make sure that your dress is good and everything is ready.”

“I promised you I will be there and I intend on keeping that promise.” I smiled. “Is Nate okay with me coming?.”

“He suggested you come.” She said with a smile on her face. “Come on, show me your dress.” She smiled and I nodded as I reached out of the couch and headed into my room.

It’s a blue strapless dress that I thought would look good on me, it came with white shoes and a bag that is a bit too much.

I can’t believe I am dressing up to attend my ex- boyfriend wedding with my best friend, I think I am okay with it, she is happy and that’s all that matters.

“I think you should wear your hair up and make sure that you look great. Get rid of all of that eye bags, you are going to be sleeping all day.” She said and I smiled.

I was about to speak when we heard the bell ring.

“I am not expecting anyone.” I breathed out when I reached off the door, a man stood by it, he held a pot of flowers and a card, without saying a word he handed it over to me.

“Do you have a boyfriend and you are not telling me about him.” She asked with a smile on her face. She quickly took the card away.

“Give it back Beth.” I yelled and she rolled her eyes at me.

What if it’s from him or any of them.

“I am coming Isabella.” Beth sang. “It doesn’t say from who or coming to where, oh he is coming to meet you, and he wants you to get ready for him:” she smiled. “You are bringing him to the engagement tomorrow and I don’t want to hear anything about it.” She smiled.

“I will.” I lied, my mind too hazed with the contents of the letter.

What did that mean?

He is coming.

It’s not signed and it’s a man in a suit that delivered it.

Shit.

——

Beth left after an hour of talking about how she wanted to see my secret boyfriend, I would have to find an excuse on to why he is not coming tomorrow.

I headed toward my window and my eyes peered out of it, there are no ambulance or police cars, no one is even standing outside.

I killed him some feet away from the building, how did anyone not see that? Is he still alive?

Is he the one that sent this? Will he come for me?

I didn’t leave my house for the rest of the day. I locked everything yet again and I settled in the living room where I can get some sleep.

Knock

Knock

Knock

I jolted up from my sleep, my mind filled with thoughts when I glanced at the clock, its two in the morning. I slept all through the days and night.

The sound of the knock caused me to look at the door again, I didn’t dare go close to it or even ask who it was.

I don’t have any friends, I don’t speak to my neighbors unless I have to and it’s always been like that, no one can knock on my door by this hour without a reason.

The knock was constant, and it didn’t stop, my breath hitches when I reached out out for a vase, the thought of that man barging into my house filled my mind.

He is not going to let me go this time, he is going to make me pay.

My mind hazed with thoughts when I saw the door knob twisting.

“Don’t.” I yelled and I didn’t get any reply. My throat starting to close up as I was about to yell help.

I had thought I got gotten over my fear yet it seemed like I have not, my body felt warm as I stared at the door and I remained on my chair was if I was glued to it.

This is what fear does to me.

“You need to stand up and run Bella.” I whispered against my breath, my mind filled with thoughts as I glanced at the door and it opened.

Fuck.

“Whatever he says, you fucking give him an answer.” I repeated abusing my breath, recalling every waking Daniel has given to me. I am in an office, it looked perfectly arranged, down to the pencils, everything was aligned in colors, it was perfectly organized, and it felt a bit creepy to be in the mist of all of this. My heart skipped a beat, my mind hazed with thoughts and I fought back the tears that threatened to fall against my cheek, I have thought about a thousand escape route yet I didn’t listen to non because of how scared I was. —— “Isabella.” I heard a voice from be behind, I didn’t dare to turn around and I did was stare at the ground when a tear finally falls out of my eyes, I stared at the ground and a cologne filled my nostrils, it was filled with manliness, power and strength. He inched closer to me and I could see his shoes “Look up, I want to see the face of the woman that dared to murder one of my men.” He said and I shivered in fear, I

“Are you okay Bella?” Beth asked “I just need to sleep.” I breathed out. “I didn’t get much sleep last night.” “What’s wrong? Is it Ethan?.” “Ethan is fine.” I whispered so low because I was scared they will know of him, I am more worried they would figure out who he is and they will hurt him, I didn’t want to tell her what happened She didn’t deserve to be pulled into any of this. “I know what will help?.” Beth smiled as she handed me over a glass of wine, I didn’t budge as I took it, I am the maid of honor after all and I wanted to look good for her, she has been planing this for a long time It took about four hours to get Beth ready and by the time we were done, she looked breathtaking, I was able to forget about what happened because of the effect of the wine “I think I am going to cry.” Beth smiled “He is going to mind his mind when he sees you.” I stated and she smiled —- There I was watching my best friend and ex boyfriend placing the ring on each othe

“My friend is going to start looking for me.” “First it’s your uncle who by the way has not shown his face and it’s already five in the morning; he didn’t even bother to call and say he would be late, this uncle of yours, do you share a room with him?.” Daniel asked and I looked away in disgust. He had not mentioned his name, all he did was sit here and wait for me to admit that I killed that man, I am not about to do that, it won’t end good for me. “It’s her wedding today, her engagement party and I am her best friend, I have to be there, you can ask the man that brought the flowers, she was here yesterday.” I stated and he looked at me. “Make it easier for all of us then, you killed him, you know you did and no matter how much you deny it, he is not coming back to life.” Daniel stated and my eyes prickled with tears. “Did he have a family?.” I asked as I stared at him, and h e nodded. “Two boys and a wife, you murdered their father and her Hanan and you left them with

“Who are you?.” “I will ask the questions Isabella.” He spoke his tone filled with a rather thick Italian accent, his blue eyes on mine as he closed the door from behind. “If I were you, I would not even think about running.” He threatened and I nodded. “My uncle will soon be home I- do not speak unless I ask you to.” The man said cutting me off, he didn’t yell, his tone was calm and his eyes were now on mine. I felt a shiver run down my spine as I stared at him, he wore a black suit, and his hair wavy and thick, when I noticed a tattoo going down from his neck, I saw a bit of it on his hand and I looked down when I heard a noise. This man didn’t speak again, all he did was stare at me and observe me. “You didn’t run when you heard the knock, you didn’t run when you saw the door knob twisting, anyone could have ran, maybe into their room, try to call for the cops and when they think they can’t get do the cops, they escape through their balcony.” He stated. I stared at the glass window, the weather felt chilly and warm at the same time, my breath caught between my throat as I stared more, it felt like someone was watching me when I choked back on my saliva. “What is wrong with you?.” I heard someone yell and I snapped out of my thoughts. “Shit.” I breathed out, staring r the mess I made on the table, the coffee was all over the place and the customer didn’t look any happy. “I am sorry.” I whispered. “You should pay more attention to what you are doing, you are certainly not getting any tips and your manager would hear about it tomorrow.” She gritted through her teeth and I stared at her apologetically. I took an extra shift to make more money and it doesn’t seem like it’s working. “It won’t happen again.” I whispered as I cleaned it, the moment I was done, I served her fresh cup of coffee. “This is on the house both the coffee and the cookies.” “I don’t need your pity cookies.” She looked away and my eyes filled with remo
