The stunned silence was etched throughout the auditorium before breaking into waves of gasps. All eyes were now glued to the scene, wide with shock because no one could believe what they had just seen. Someone had actually slapped Elsa.

Elsa stood frozen, her entire body trembling. Her cheek burned hot, fury building up inside her. Never in her life had anyone dared to lay a hand on her. Never.

Her trembling fingers rose to her stinging cheek. Her blue eyes crinkled with tears at the corners, not from pain but from outrage. Slowly, she turned her head toward the person standing protectively in front of Piper. Cecil.

Elsa’s friends rushed to her side, leaving Piper. “Elsa, are you okay?” one asked, reaching for her.

Another added, “Oh my God, your face—”
