His head ached, and he felt like thirty children were jumping on it like they did a trampoline. Ruffling himself up from the bed, he groaned loudly as he grabbed the corners of his head in an attempt to prevent it from splitting into two. He hardly drank much as he knew the effect it had on him but since the past month, he had been living on alcohol as if it were food and was needed for survival.

Lucas dragged himself out of bed and into the bathroom, where he splashed water on his face. As he raised his head, he caught sight of his reflection in the mirror, his lips curling up in a half smile.

“Who would believe that it was he, the almighty billionaire and CEO of the Reid group of companies, in the mirror looking so unkempt and disheveled? He wondered as he stared at the pale-looking man, whose hair had grown some extra inches from its normal length, and whose beard reeked of alcohol. But he had no doubt that was him as he’d been in that exact state seven years ago.

Lucas’ gaze fixed intently on Phoebe as she stared out of the Limo’s window into the darkness. Her hair fell down her shoulders, stopping a few inches away from the strapless blue bodycon gown he’d gotten her for the evening. All through the dinner, he had been restless. His brain had gone foggy, feeding him with images of her fair luscious ass porking out from his T-shirt from the night before. He’d wished more than a hundred times to have her for food instead and when he couldn't take the torture anymore, he had suggested they left home early. “You’re staring again,” Phoebe murmurred, not looking at him. A strand of her hair fell on her face but before he could reach lift his finger, she tugged it back into place. Nursing his loss, he rested back on the plush chair. “Hmm,” A smile graced his features as he took a sip from the wine. “Yes, because you look beautiful. Just like our wedding night.”Her eyes flicked to him, amusement lingering within her orbs.“You’ve said this a hu

As soon as her chauffeur pulled up in the driveway of her son's property, Cory stepped out from the car, a frown marring her face. But then it was gone, a smile taking its place, a mask. Smoothing the edge of her dress, she strutted to the door and rang the doorbell. The butler answered, straightening his stance at the sight of her, a gulp working down his throat.” “Good evening, Ma’am,” he greeted as he lowered into a bow. Cory rolled her eyes as she sashayed past him and into the living room. Her eyes darted around for a while before she returned them to him. “Where’s everyone?” She asked, turning to him as her long fingers worked on her coat buttons. Adam swallowed, “The young master left with Madam about twenty minutes ago.” “Dinner.” Her brows jammed together in anger as she glared at Adam with the latter swallowing uncomfortably. “Why would they leave when...” She stopped midway, remembering she hadn't told them she would be coming. Shutting her eyes rather too d

The bathroom door creaked open with a hiss of steam, and Lucas got out, water dripping down his body into a towel that hung dangerously low on his waist. With another towel, smaller than the first, he dried his tousled wet hair, his nostrils picking up the scent of lavender and honey. His eyes lifted, and a smile tugged the corners of his lips upward as he saw Phoebe, curled in the middle of their bed, dressed in his oversized gray shirt. Her legs were stretched out, her bare thighs peeking beneath the hem of the material, while her hair spilled over the pillow in messy waves. Phoebe smiled as she caught his eyes on her, her gaze stealing peeks of his bare chest. “Is that my shirt?” He asked, snapping her out of her daydream as twin shades of pink glued to her cheeks.“Uh-huh,” she replied, averting her gaze while she flipped her hair to the side, exposing her thin fair neck. The shirt’s collar hung loose around her collarbone, the sleeves draping past her hands and hiding them. Sh

Getting out from the car she headed towards the building but dhe had hardly hind far when she saw Phoebe heading in the direction of the toddler. But then she saw Trevor hovered above them, his features victorious as he stared at them possessively. Her mind flashed back to the meeting she had with him a few weeks back, remembering how he’d made his plans about getting them back into his life known to her. Had he listened to her advicd or d

Phoebe blinked once, then twice and even when his form didn’t disperse into thin air like she’d presumed it would, she still felt it to be her mind playing a trick on her. Did he just…? Did he deny being his son’s father? Her subconscious queried her as she clutched her purse tightly, a lump forming in her throat. Why? Why did he do it….even when he had the right opportunity to spill out the truth to him? What was he up to? As much as she felt surprised by his action, she was also filled with relief as her thudding heartbeat relaxed, her shoulders slumping in relief. Her eyes met his for a nanosecond before he broke the eye contact, turning his attention to the toddler who’d stopped crying and was now staring at them with his brows jammed in confusion. “Don’t listen to any rumors? Lucas is your real father,” he said, ruffling his hair. “And you don't have to be sad, I can always be your number two, okay?” He chuckled, his eyes crinkling rather too tightly. Ivan smiled as his ga

Phoebe’s breath hitched as the air became tense between them, the sound of her rebelling heart raging resounding in her ears. ‘He said you're my daddy.’ Her mind replayed the toddler’s words, a gasp spilling from her lips each time. Expelling breaths that did little to calm her down, she pulled her legs towards the duo. Her eyes locked with Trevor’s as he stared back at her, an unreadable expression etched on his face. “Who said that to you?” Phoebe asked, barely recognizing the voice to be here. Her body burned with anger as she stared into those brown eyes. Ivan, who hadn't noticed her presence flung his head in her direction, his lips curving in a small smile, but it was gone as he saw the ugly scowl on her face. “Who told you that?” Phoebe repeated as she firmly but gently pulled him out of Trevor’s hold. Her anxiety skyrocketed as thoughts of other things her child must have learnt flooded her mind. She shot a glare at Trevor but said nothing. Ivan parted his lips, his
