Marvin's eyes widen for a second at Gabriella's declaration as he wasn't expecting it. She definitely took being unreasonable to a different level.
"How do you feel now? Satisfied?", he asks wryly.
"Shut up and don't make fun of me, I'll go to every length till I'm able to get rid of this mate bond", she grunts and his eyes narrow in confusion.
"Isn't the bond gone?", he asks.
"Arghh... How come I'm feeling it even more than you do?", she yells and he is forced to burst into laughter. "Shut the fuck up", she shrieks and he laughs even more.
"Maybe you should try inserting my middle name when rejecting me next", he chuckles.
"Does that even matter?", she retorts.
"I don't know", he admits. "Maybe the rejection didn't work because you didn't recognize me as your Alpha Ultra"
"You're not my Alpha Ultra, get that into your thick skull"
"Why are you so verbally violent?", he playfully complains.
"Should I be physically violent instead?", she retorts and he chuckles.
"I have a feeling you'll be just as efficient in that so no", he responds. "Why don't you just tell me why you want your father to be Alpha Ultra?"
"Because he's more qualified than you", she spits.
"You think so?", Marvin asks.
"I know so"
"And you don't think you're being biased and irrational?"
"I'm not being biased, and neither am I being irrational! My father is more qualified than you are. He has been efficiently ruling the Red Moon pack for almost fifty years and just look at you, the proposed Alpha Ultra"
"Not the proposed Alpha Ultra, the actual Alpha Ultra", he corrects interrupting her before she could finish talking and she glares at him.
"I said you're the proposed Alpha Ultra and I'm not taking it back", she grunts. "You have only ruled a pack for two years"
"Did you add that it was a pack I created myself and not a handed down pack?", Marvin asks.
"It doesn't matter, you are still too unqualified to rule the whole of Wisconsin and Illinois and I'm going to fight to make sure you go down. I won't rest till the werecouncil takes back their decision!"
"I've already told you that the werecouncil would not even look at your list not to mention deliberating on it. Believe me and give up already"
"Never, I'll never do that"
"Then you can continue fighting against the air and see how far that'll take you"
"I'm not fighting against the air, I'm fighting against you, and I'm going to pester the Alpha Supreme till he takes you down and probably drags you back to Washington where you belong. You've only been in Illinois for less than three years, you know nothing about them and their way of life or wants, not to mention Wisconsin that you have probably never been in"
"I've actually been in Wisconsin a couple of times", he argues.
"A couple of times? And that was enough to make you become the Alpha Ultra?"
"Maybe you should visit my pack sometime soon, it'll show you how effective I am", he suggests.
"Stop trying to act like my sweet and caring mate, I'm rejecting you as soon as possible"
"Why don't you try doing it again?", he mocks and she glares at him.
"Just watch and see, I'm going to make the Alpha Supreme consider this matter as important since you're so convinced that he won't even make a single thought on it", she declares and Marvin laughs.
"He still won't be affected by it", he shrugs. "He'll probably just tell me to handle you"
"He'll send you to handle me?", she repeats with emphasis on the 'handle me'.
"Yes, to handle you"
"Like I'm a child disturbing right?", she laughs. "You all have no idea who I really am"
"I think we do, at least I certainly do but the problem is there's a kink in your armour", he responds.
"And what's that weak spot you think I have?", she asks in a mocking tone.
"Me", he proclaims confidently and she narrows her eyes at him. "Your plans have been ruined by the moon goddess already in making me your mate"
"And you really think I'll let myself be held down by the mate bond?", she laughs. "I will take you down even with the mate bond", she declares confidently and Marvin chuckles.
"Try your luck then", he bids.
"Make sure to watch your back though", she warns.
"I should tell you that mate", he replies and she rolls her eyes.
"You can get lost now", she commands and Marvin smiles.
"There you go with the commands, but let me be obedient for today", he concedes but she swerves around and starts walking away before he could finish talking.
'You are definitely in trouble, Marvin. Are you sure you can handle this lady?', his mind asks him just as she swerves to the side and disappears from his sight.
"If the moon goddess gave her to me, and refused to separate us even when she rejected me, then I guess we're meant to be together", he mutters. "I did well despite being surprised at having a new mate", he commends himself and turns back into the building.
He still had a werecouncil meeting to attend.
Minutes later, Marvin is at the front of the door looking at the unconscious guards lying in front of the door which he hadn't noticed on his way out because he was in such a hurry to meet up with her.
Gabriella... She was amazing, so amazing that his perspective on his type of woman was already crumbling.
'So you're going to disregard Pearl because of a lady you just met?', his mind suddenly asks and his thoughts of Gabriella sublime.
'I can't remember when last were you this excited about something Marvin, is this what you needed all this years? A woman?', his mind continues to reprimand and a stab of guilt hits his chest.
He sighs heavily and pushes the door open. He walks in and shuts the door only to turn to see his father looking at him expectantly which was very surprising to him and the other Alpha Ultras.
"How did it go?", his father asks.
"Not so well...", he answers and the Alpha Supreme and his Beta immediately burst into laughter.
"Come and have your seat, Marvin. We should continue with the werecouncil meeting", Jonathan declares and Marvin strides towards his seat. "So yes.. back to the North Carolina issue with the humans there", Jonathan starts and Magnus immediately takes it from there.
'The two of them had so much synchronicity, probably attained after being together for several years', Marvin thinks with a small smile before his mind switches back to Gabriella.
'Gabriella Rachael Stone... What am going to do with her now? It's impressive that she's actively involved in the running of the Red Moon Pack but... That might be an obstacle', he thinks.
He quickly reminds himself that he had a meeting to focus on and shifts his attention back to the meeting only for his mind to switch back to her again.
'Here you are thinking about another woman and not focusing on your meeting after you focused on your duties overly in the past and ended up losing the woman that the moon goddess initially gave to you. Is that fair of you?', his mind scolds him and the thoughts of Gabriella immediately disappear once again.
'I'm so sorry, Pearl'
"You don't look pleased", Richard Stone, the Alpha of the Red Moon Pack mutters as he looks up from a file on his table. "I'm fine", Gabriella replies softly and shuts the door to her father's study behind her. Once she shuts the door, her hands move to her neck to pick the pendant of her necklace. Her father's eyes catch the ongoing action and he frowns. "I know that gesture", her father points out and takes off his reading glasses. "What?" "You're rubbing your necklace", he replies and she drops the pendant with a sigh. "Why did you call for me?", she asks in a weak attempt to divert from the present trail of conversation before it led her to a dead end. "Gabriella, what's wrong?" "I'm just thinking of what we can do to get taken seriously", she replies, spewing out a half-truth. "What do you mean by that? Do you think the Alpha Supreme was dismissive towards the complaint? Varus didn't inform me of such", Richard probes. "No. He was actually quite interested, but
"Is the Alpha princess in?", Varus asks the guards stationed in front of Gabriella's room and they immediately stand up from their seats. "No, sir", they reply. "How long has she been out?", Varus investigates. "The Alpha King summoned her minutes ago, she hasn't returned since then", one of the guards informs Varus. "Very well then", Varus replies and turns around to go. If Gabriella hadn't returned since meeting with her father, there was only one place she could be: the training room. "Want a partner?", Varus offers after getting to the training room and stopping at the door. "No", Gabriella replies and slashes off the head of the dummy she was sparring with. "That's a lot of heads", Varus chuckles on noticing the number of dummy heads sprawled on the floor. "Who are you angry at exactly? The moon goddess?" "He just had to tell you immediately", Gabriella scowls. "I'm glad he did" "I'm not", she fires back and Varus sighs heavily. "So you weren't going to tell me, your
"Are you sure you don't want to come back with us? One short visit back home wouldn't hurt", Martins tries to convince Marvin. "Can you stop trying to convince him to come to Washington with us? He's not interested", Magnus snarls. "You're supposed to be on my side in this matter. Wouldn't you want him to meet the new Luna?" "As much as I would like to check out this new stepmother of mine, I'm quite occupied back at Aurora", Marvin excuses. "More like you just don't want to come back home", Martins mutters. "Think whatever you want", Marvin retorts. "Goodbye, Father" "Goodbye. Don't forget your deadline for the official opening of the branch, the werecouncil may have chosen you but it would still reflect badly on me if..." "I'll take my leave now", Marvin interrupts and walks away. "That disrespectful fool", Martins mumbles. "Let him be, Martins. I guess he hasn't recovered fully", Magnus realizes. "It's been three years already. He even has a new mate now" "Emotions don'
"Good morning, Alpha", Castor greets with a smile as Marvin walks out of his room dressed in a suit. "Same, Castor", Marvin replies. "What's for breakfast?" "Cereals for me, I don't know about the rest of the house" "I'll just have coffee then", Marvin decides. "Is your mother around?" "No, I'll go find her" "Don't bother, finish up with your breakfast so that you won't be late", Marvin waives and walks into the kitchen. Marvin soon walks out of the kitchen with a cup of coffee in hand and then proceeds to look for Stacey. He finds her in the laundry room and stops at the door. "Stacey" "Marvin. Good morning", she smiles. "I see you haven't made breakfast yet" "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know you were going to the office today. Karen is still in bed and the rest have gone out already so I thought I could do the laundry before making breakfast", she apologizes. "That's actually fine, I wasn't feeling up to breakfast" "Okay, but won't you take anything at all?" "I already mad
"Marvin!", Trevor calls out in confusion at Marvin's declaration but Marvin was rushing in already. "Guards, there's an intruder!", he yells nonetheless. The ongoing work in the building is immediately paused as all the workers strive to find the intruder. "I heard there's an intruder, sir. How did you spot the intruder?", the head of the construction who was a human asks. "The CEO was the one who raised the alarm, I only helped to spread the alarm" "Where is he?" "He went chasing after the intruder", Trevor repeats and the man walks off. "I wonder what this is about", he sighs. 'I know you're here', Marvin speaks through his wolf link as he runs up one of the staircases. The elevators had stopped working which had to be her doing. He had tried cutting off as many people as he could from his mind link but some wolves that didn't need to hear were still going hear what he had said. 'Nice one', his wolf suddenly hears and he pauses. Gabriella. 'Find me if you can' 'Are you a
"Marvin!", Trevor calls as he runs up the staircase in search of Marvin. 'I'm coming, just stay where you are', Trevor hears through his mind link and immediately pauses. After a while of waiting, Marvin finally reaches where Trevor stood and Trevor sighs in relief on seeing him. "Are you alright?" "Obviously", Marvin grunts in reply and a small smile plasters itself on Trevor's face. "So how did you know there were intruders?", Trevor asks once they are walking down the staircase. "What do you think?", Marvin replies. "Well, I have two speculations that both have large uncertainties involved", Trevor responds. "Spill" "You could have probably sniffed that there was an intruder. I don't know how that's possible though with the number of men we have on site alongside the humans but I guess Alphas could be cool that way. I haven't heard of that power though" "And the second option?" "One of the intruders was someone from our pack", Trevor replies and Marvin frowns. "How did
"Come and look at my little princess", Irvin declares once Trevor and Marvin enter the room where he stood with the newborn child in his arms while Karen sat on the bed watching him. "It's a girl", Marvin breathes out. "Of course it is, did you think the moon goddess wouldn't grant the wishes of most of the inhabitants of this home?", Irvin chuckles. "The male pup team was actually larger", Trevor reminds. "Don't tell me Marvin was rooting for a male pup too" "A pup is a pup. Besides, I am still happy even though Karen dashed my hopes", Marvin replies and Karen smiles. "My hopes were dashed too. Look at how he's cuddling her but he hasn't even touched me since I gave birth", Karen whines. "Irvin!", Trevor and Marvin complain and Irvin laughs. "I was holding her throughout the birth procedure", Irvin argues. "And so?", Trevor retorts and Karen beams with smiles. "I knew you will be on my side! My Alpha and Beta have never disappointed me", Karen rejoices and everyone laughs.
"Marvin, what are you doing up here?", Trevor asks as he walks into Marvin's office and shuts the door behind himself. "Nothing much, I'm just going over the plans to see if everything is pushing through perfectly. I find it difficult to relax nowadays, I can't wait till we're done with everything concerning the setup" "Of course you must feel this way, you're the boss!", Trevor laughs and sits on one of the chairs opposite Marvin. "This temporary office of yours is quite really getting more comfortable as the days pass by. You're going to be mighty attached to this place before it's finally time to move out" "I guess so", Marvin shrugs. "So what do you think about the execution? Is everything going on smoothly?" "Yeah, it is. The security system is not yet complete in this building because of the accident days ago but every other building is secured. The fencing security is still incomplete too but we're only two days behind schedule and everything was supposed to be completed
