2022-08-23 17:22:06Elysia laid in the bed deprived of any signs of life in her. Only the slight rise and fall of her chest was the evidence that she was living although she was dead.
Her phone was ringing continuously but she had no strength left to get up and see who was calling her. Just when the scary night flashed through her mind, she shrunk and hugged her legs. The tears were leaving the corners of her eyes.
The phone stopped ringing and it hadn't been 10 minutes yet when the knock on her door grabbed her attention. Her eyes frightened instantly. She covered herself with a blanket and sat on the corner of the bed.
It was a futile attempt to show that no one was there. Her mental health was shattered badly. One night had changed everything in her.
The banging on the door got louder. ''No one is here. I AM NOT HERE.'' She roared and covered her ears with her palms. Those banging sounds were hammering nails in her head.
''No one is here.'' She continued to say and cried. Her voice was dying down. Elysia was standing at the peak of helplessness.
Soon, the beeping sound of the door lock caused goosebumps all over her body.
She wanted to run away. She wanted to drag herself out of this hell.
Just then, the door of her bedroom opened. Elysia cried and yelled at the top of her lungs. ''LET GO OF ME.''
''DON'T DO THIS TO ME, PLEASE.... PLEASE DON'T.'' She sobbed.
While Lauren, who had just entered her bedroom, was shocked to see what was happening. Her room was turned upside down and Elysia stood in the corner of the room with a blanket wrapped around herself. It didn't take much time for Lauren to understand what had happened.
Elysia suddenly started to scratch her cheek and neck which that bastard had smoldered with the cigarette.
''Elysia.'' She walked towards her with trembling legs.
While Elysia fervently tried to run away from her.
''ELYSIA.'' Lauren shouted and held her by the shoulders, but she was saying one thing again and again.
''Leave me, please. I beg you.''
''Elysia, get yourself together. It's me Lauren.'' Lauren shook her from the shoulders and held her hand that was scratching the wound. The blood was now dripping out of it.
It was stinging badly but the pain she was going through was a lot more than that.
Elysia finally lifted up her heavy eyelids and she saw her only friend. The red and swollen eyes took in her reflection.
''Lauren.'' She whispered and confirmed with the fear that it might be a dream.
Lauren nodded her head. ''Yes, it's me.''
When Elysia realized that it wasn't a dream, she instantly pulled her into a hug.
''Lauren, I-I was-'' she wanted to tell her but the words were stuck in her throat.
''Shh..'' Lauren knew it must be hard to tell her everything.
''It's okay, Elysia. You are fine, don't cry. I am with you.'' She walked her to the bed and softly touched her left cheek.
''What will I do?'' The horrible glimpse of memories from the past night were breaking her further.
''Who was he?'' Lauren asked with rage.
Elysia shook her head. ''I don't know who he is. I don't even know how he entered my apartment.'' Tears never stopped trickling down her eyes.
''Let's go to the hospital. You need to get tested.'' Lauren took out an outfit from the closet and helped her to change into it.
''I don't want to file a report.'' She suddenly said to her friend when they were going to the hospital.
The heated eyes of the taxi driver from the rear mirror were making her disgusted too. Elysia felt like he was taking off her clothes with his eyes.
So, she got scared and put herself behind Lauren. Lauren knew that her mental health was not well and in order to get her out of this phase, she kept quiet.
She went to the hospital and when a male doctor came to check up on her, she got frightened and started to shout. ''DON'T COME NEAR ME. DON'T TOUCH ME.''
''Miss, I need to do a check-up. Come back to your senses.'' The doctor was politely saying to her.
''Lauren, please ask him to leave. In fact, let's go. I don't want to stay here. Please take me home.'' She sobbed.
Lauren grabbed Elysia by the shoulders and made her stand on the bed before talking to the doctor, ''I am really sorry, doctor. I have a favor to ask.'' She looked at the doctor with helplessness, ''If there is any lady doctor available please ask her to check up on my friend.''
The doctor sighed. He glared at the girl who was hiding behind her friend and looked terrified.
The doctor nodded and left.
''Lauren, he killed me last night. I don't want to breathe anymore. Ask these doctors to give me something that will stop my breaths.'' Her painful words were echoing in the room.
''Ask them to give me poison.... or suffocate me.... kill me... take my senses away.... let them make me go insane. These senses are stabbing my soul. I feel like my whole body is burning on fire.... I am in pain.... Please free me from this ruthless pain. I don't want to live.'' She was shaking her head and putting her hands together as she pleaded.
Lauren, who had been trying to stay firm till now, was shaken up by her words. She could not stop herself from crying and pulled her in her embrace. ''Nothing happened. It was a nightmare.''
''Take me home. You shouldn't have brought me to the hospital. I don't want to become an entertainment for others.''
''Hide me from the world. That's best.''
Lauren was patting her back and she tried to take a gulp of her own tears.
The pain in her cheek increased to the point where she couldn't tolerate it anymore and started to scratch it ruthlessly.
Lauren tried to hold her hands but it was impossible for her to handle it. Luckily, at that moment, the nurse followed by a doctor entered the room. They instantly gave her a sedative.
It took her some time to lose her senses and sleep soundly but the moisture on the tip of her eyelashes, the tear-stained face, red-pointed nose and the blood oozing wound... There was evidence that something terrible had happened to this girl.
Lauren was aware that it was a police case while Elysia wasn't in her senses to deal with this mess, so she lied to the doctor and told them that she was a drug addict and that's how she got her cheek and neck burned.
The doctor believed her and treated her wound accordingly.
Three days went by. During this time, whenever Elysia woke up, she would start scratching her cheek and neck and because of that, her wound got pretty big and bad. It wasn’t healing at all.
The doctors were continually putting her on sedatives.
Lauren stood by her side the whole time.
When Elysia woke up, she rushed towards her. ''How are you, sweetheart?'' She lovingly asked.
She bitterly looked at her friend. ''I am alive... I am fine.'' She answered in a piercing voice.
Lauren sighed. ''I have decided to take you back to my place. We should live together.''
Elysia didn't answer her. There was nothing to say. That horrible night came and took everything away from her.
Lauren took Elysia to her apartment.
No matter how many times she showered on the touch of that man.... she failed to get rid of it.
The nightmares were not letting her sleep. She would wake up in the middle of the night and start screaming while the wound on her cheek and neck would become a victim of her frustration.
''It will never heal this way.'' Lauren weakly said, ''This is going to leave a scar.''
''What about the scar which he has left on my soul? What will you do about that, Lauren?''
''Try to forget it. You should make an effort to come back to life.'' Lauren was saying to her softly, ''Your boss from the animal clinic also called today. She was asking about you.''
''Promise me that you will try to get better.'' Lauren put pressure on her.
Elysia nodded her head. She did not have any other choice.
Lauren ran her fingers in her beautiful hair and comforted her as she drifted to sleep.
Elysia was so beautiful. Her fair skin, perfect features, everything about her was flawless, except that huge scar now. Her heart ached.
'Isn't there any happiness for her in life?' She thought.
They had been friends for 15 years and she was well aware of the life which Elysia had spent.
Lauren sighed and kept the lights of the room on. Elysia gets scared in the darkness, so she keeps that in mind and leaves that room. Lauren sincerely hoped for good days in her life.

With a nervously beating heart, Elysia started to get dressed up for dinner. She could not name it as a date because he was just returning a favour which she had given him. So, she dropped the idea of wearing a dress and instead settled on slipping inside the formal black pants with a grey button-up shirt and a long checkered matching coat and a scarf around her neck. It covered the wound on her cheek also. A little makeup and that's it. Exactly at 7 pm, a car horn grabbed her attention. She knew she had to see him, however, when the time was there, she started to get sweaty hands and the little droplets of water were also shining on her forehead.
