CHAPTER 3

"This is an ancient stake. It can kill any Master, including Cedric." I attempted to grab the stake, but Leon quickly pulled it away.

Leon continued, "You will get this weapon when the right time comes. I'm not a fan of getting double-crossed." He put the stake back in his coat pocket. He leaned backward in his chair with a sneer plastered on his face.

"I take your reaction as a sign you will take this job," he said.

"Yes," I responded directly. I hurriedly reached into my jacket and brought out a contract.

"What may this be?" The contract that I pulled piqued Leon's interest.

"A binding agreement declaring that I will take the life of Cedric Bloodtear. You should know that I do not work for free at this place.

The only thing I will require in return is a favor in the future. Leon appeared to be wary of me."

"And after the favor is done, the contract ends?" He asked calmly. I gave a slight nod.

I gave him a pen to use for signing, and he took it. He took the contract from my hands and read it. After listening to him read for approximately five minutes, he finally set the document on the table and signed it. Oh, that, Leon. I am not the same person that I used to be. You are in my control right now.

"Now tell me, why do you want your brother dead?" I asked out of sheer interest. Although the Bloodtears have always been competitive with one another, at the end of the day, they are still family.

"Let's just say that we had a falling out," Leon remarked as he moved the blood around in his glass. When Leon's voice registered in my head, I realized I had been looking at him.

"Lucy, how about you tell me what you consume instead of the blood of humans? I find it hard to understand that someone in your area of supervision would consume animal blood." Leon inquired as he leaned forward in his chair and sipped from his glass.

I got up from my chair as Leon's eyes scrutinized my every move. He then placed the glass on the table and sat back in his chair, gradually regaining his composure. His gaze felt like blazing flames on my skin, making me remember old memories I had long forgotten.

"I have a taste for something quite unusual." I gave him a sly grin as I moved in front of him, swinging my hips in an alluring manner. I wedged my foot between his legs on the chair and then pushed it backward with my other foot.

I whispered, "Something that's completely one of a kind." I climbed up onto his lap and positioned myself so that I could whisper in his ear.

I said, "Something more like you," as I felt my fangs emerge and bite into his neck. Even though I had eaten recently, I was unable to stop myself. It would have been a shame to pass up the opportunity to taste the blood of a Master.

Before he threw me off, I drank from his blood. I couldn't help myself. I did a backflip and landed on my feet while groaning. I was surprised. How rude of him.

"You taste delicious." I gave a slight grin while licking the remnants of blood that had been removed from the corner of my mouth, then spitting it off onto my finger. Simply to make him laugh.

I could see the rage rising in his eyes at that very moment. Although Leon was often calm, I always wondered what was lurking behind his bright red eyes. It was the thing that Leon made me curious, whether it was his rage, his recklessness, or his hunger. He was having trouble breathing and had put his hand on his neck, which is where I bit him.

"You're not the person I once knew—Lucy Nevermore." He stated it while observing me, moving his gaze all over my body before finally looking at my face.

"Duh, death changes most people," I smirked, crossing my arms over my chest. "I came here for business, not for a reunion of old friends." It caused me to huff.

Leon took a handkerchief from his sleeve and cleaned his hands with it, as well as the blood that had finally stopped oozing from the bite wound.

"I am not going to ask you where you got that desire for vampire blood since I already know the answer. I'm just really interested in it. After all, you have been called the greatest vampire assassin the world has ever known." As he put away his handkerchief, he gave me a sly grin.

Before I could even talk, Leon pushed me against the wall and had my throat in his grip.

"But before we get into that, let me clarify one thing. I will put an end to you if you ever drink off of me again. Don't forget that I'm a Master, and people like you can't take my life because I'm not an ordinary vampire. He said coldly. I couldn't help but grin wider.

"Are you kidding me, Leon? I am well aware that you can strangle me tighter than that. The grin on my face transformed into a sneer as I let out a croak.

The moment Leon released me, he immediately turned his back on me. I managed to fall into a crouched position and immediately grabbed hold of my throat, coughing the shit out of me.

"Then how exactly am I supposed to put an end to Cedric? If it's true that I can't kill you," I said with a mocking tone. I could not maintain my laughter and burst out laughing and hacking simultaneously.

I've taken out stronger enemies than both he and his brother. He could find her head hanging on a stick if I wanted Katty.

"Because I'm not Cedric, and I have the weapon to kill him." How he spoke gave the impression that he was unsure of his answer.

If I were in his position, I would feel the same way. You should only deal with Cedric Bloodtear if you are confident that you can kill him, regardless of whether you are close to him or even if you are a member of his family. On the other hand, I am convinced I would win since I am more familiar with the Bloodtears than they are with themselves.
