An offer

>> Hazel

“Emilio” Valek spoke to his son in a calm yet strong voice, “She is not your mother.” Emilio turned his head towards his father while still hugging me and Valek extended his hand towards him, “Come here.” There wasn’t any softness in his voice even though he was talking to a child and his own son at that.

“No!” Emilio buried his face in my stomach, “You shaid mommy went far way, she’s bwack now!” I could feel his grip on my shirt get tighter.

“Emilio.” Valek grabbed his shirt from the back and pulled him off of me, “Your mommy is d-”

“Boss!!” Another abrupt voice of a person cut Valek’s words short and made us all turn to the entrance of the warehouse. A man wearing a black dress shirt and pants was panting by the door. His hair was a bit disheveled and he had a thin physique but the moment he saw Emilio and Valek he calmed down and adjusted his slightly crooked glasses and hair.

“Ren.” Valek glared at him, “I see you’re neglecting your duties.”

“I’m really sorry boss.” He looked down, “I have no idea when the young master slipped past me...” Valek’s gaze didn’t falter so Ren gave him a 90 degree bow, “I’m really sorry.”

While Valked was busy glaring at the four eyes Emilio tried to grab me again, “Mama.” He whispered and I looked at him while he hovered in the air. This time, since I got to see his face very closely and clearly, I realized why he thought I was his mother.

Emilio shared the same condition as me.

Heterochromia.

Not only was his condition the same as mine, our color variation was also the same too. We both had one light brown eye while the other was grey.

When I looked at him and his small hands trying to reach me I had this urge to grab them and pull him in for a hug. Just when I moved forward Valek pulled Emilio up and handed him to the man named Ren.

“Daddy no!” Emilio protested but Valek turned his head away without saying anything to him.

Meanwhile, I was frozen in my stance, a sudden realization came to me then.

What was I about to do?

What good was it going to do me if I held that kid?

“You.” Valek looked at me and I turned my gaze to him. He glanced at Emilio and I did the same while Emilio had his eyes on me. I could sense the worry in them but what was the point of that? The boy meant nothing to me, so I looked away.

As Ren left the scene I took a deep internal sigh, “I have an offer to make.” Valek spoke and I turned my head towards him. His eyes were still lingering on the door through which his son was forced to leave.

“An offer?” I raised my brows at him while I still sat on the cold concrete floor.

He turned to me and crouched down to meet my eye level. I gulped as his face got closer, I could feel his intense gaze on me yet at that moment I found his blue eyes very pretty, the more I looked at them the more mysterious they felt, just like the ocean.

It was as if there was a whole vast blue ocean beyond them, deep and full of mysteries.

“Yes, I’m sure even you don’t want to die like this even though you made the mistake of stealing from a mafain boss.” He had a straight face on with absolutely no expressions.

“Is stealing from the mafia death worthy?” I scoffed.

“Yes,” He gave me a very serious answer, “Especially when you steal from the one incharge.”

I gulped, “I didn’t even take that much.” I mustered all my courage, “Going to an extreme just because of some petty cash.” I gave him a disgusted smirk, “What a scrooge you are.”

Hearing my remark a grin spread across his face, one that symbolized how amused he was with my words, “I’ll be patient here since I still haven’t stated my offer but, I brought you here for another reason” His smile vanished when he licked his lower lip, “Otherwise my men would have taken care of you.” He looked at my body, “And I would not have interfered at all.”  His gaze was analyzing every part so intensely I instinctively brought my hands up and shaped them in a cross over my chest.

Valek snickered at my reaction and that made me fluster so much I could feel the heat leaving through my ears but all I could do in the situation was grit my teeth since his men were still behind me. They may have been standing still, doing nothing but just the fact that they were there was enough for me to not say anything further.

“You had an offer?” I glared at him and he smirked.

“Oh? You want to hear it?”

“Clearly I don’t want to die.” I gritted my teeth in frustration.

“Good choice.” He said, “And I’m hoping you’ll make a better one for the offer too.”

“Let’s hear it,” I said while trying to sound confident.

“Became a mother for Emilio.” He said in a very serious tone.

As soon as I heard the words leave his mouth they baffled me so much my reaction came out without me getting a chance to think about it.

“Excuse me!?”
