Selena’s POV

I couldn’t relax or eat for the rest of that day, the images of Rain’s face twisted in pain permanently imprinted on my mind. All day I kept my eyes on the hospital door. With every step I heard my heart jump, expecting him to walk through it.

But it was never him...

Hell, at one point I even grew so bold I went up to the guards outside and asked about him. They seemed kind enough, one of them even offering to sit and chat for a while if I was bored. But I didn’t dare to trust them, so I quickly excused myself and locked the door.

At night, I twisted and turned in my bed, unable to stop thinking about what had happened. Was he hurt? Why was he in pain? I tried to think about the reasons, but werewolves didn’t get sick like that. Their immune system fought off most infections and colds within hours, and they could as easily digest raw meat as fruits and veggies.

So what had happened to him?

  • Surrogate to the Blood Alpha   Chapter 95: The Bodyguard's Mate

Selena's POV“Calm down,” I called out, not really sure where my newfound confidence came from. And which shocked most of the wolves there, I was actually addressing the woman. Stunned, she gaped at me, wide eyes as if asking if I’d lost my freaking marbles. But I gave her a small nod, and despite her clear doubt, she stopped trying to get away. And sure enough, when the wolf realized that his mate wasn’t about to run away, Joey regained control over the animal. He took a deep breath and then walked up to her, his aura completely different.“I apologize for that,” he said, his voice smooth like silk. “What’s your name?”“He’s my son,” the girl snapped, trying to calm down her crying baby while also having a conversation. “I’m not giving him up!”Joey looked at her, nodding respectfully and then reached for the baby with one hand, caress

  • Surrogate to the Blood Alpha    Chapter 94: Morning Glow

Selena’s POVI woke up, feeling more rested than I expected after the night I’d had. But that may have something to do with the fact that my body was bubbling with happiness.Lifting up my hand, I once more couldn’t help grinning with pure euphoria at seeing the ring on my finger. It was perfectly simple, yet so beautiful and stunning, I couldn’t have imagined a better ring. And then there was the fact that I was now engaged to Rain!I giggled out loud--- and then looked around to see if I could find the arrogant fucker. But the bed was empty, and his place next to me was cold. His clothes were gone, and my heart sank when I remembered the other thing he’d told me last night.Hurrying as much as I could, I found an oversized hoodie--- and a note on the table.I’ll come back to you, my beautiful Azura...And that was it!Huffing, I got up and stormed

  • Surrogate to the Blood Alpha   Chapter 93: By Her Side

Rain's POVI hated the way her voice slightly trembled with fear. But there was also an arrogant, smug part of me that realized, if she was this scared for my life, it meant she felt some kind of way about me.I could always hope...“Yes,” I replied, watching as the color drained from her face. I didn’t know what to do with this, but I’d read enough romance novels to have a slight idea…“It’ll be alright,” I reassured her, reaching out and, despite her struggles, I pulled her into my arms and held her close. “I promise! I won’t be killed that easily.”“Oh! And you’ll tell your enemies that too?” She snapped--- making me chuckle. Sure, I couldn’t predict what my enemies would do. Especially now that Katie was back in their hands – something my mate didn’t know and with her reaction, I made the executive de

  • Surrogate to the Blood Alpha   Chapter 92: The Last Night

Rain’s POVI was playing with my mate’s hair, loving the silky texture between my fingers and the way the light caught in the white locks. There was something relaxing about playing with it. The way it felt as it slit across my fingers tickled my skin just right. And I loved the scent of her shampoo that seemed to fill the air with every flick across my hand.My sweet mate...I remembered the day she was talking about. I had been in that cage with her, seeing all the same things she did. Struggling to get out of the silver binds that kept me immobile. I noticed that, all of a sudden, the traitor was gone, but I didn’t give it much thought. It hadn’t even crossed my mind that the woman and girl in the ring were his family, and the reason he was gone was due to passing out from the pain of killing his own mate…Eventually, I got my hands free!I attacked the wolves there, ripping them

  • Surrogate to the Blood Alpha   Chapter 91: Choosing You!

Selena's POV“Are you looking for reasons not to be with me now?” He cut me off, sounding mildly amused as his lips tipped upwards in a teasing smile.“Because if that’s so, I may have to punish you!”Before I had time to reply, Rain was on top of me, pushing me down on the bed.“Rain!” I squealed, but didn’t have time to think, as he stalked over me, his black eyes peering down at me with a heat that made my cheeks blush.“My wolf loves you, my little Azura,” he told me, his voice low and sensual, sending shivers down my spine – and yes, it turned me on as well!Fuck my body!“Come hell or high waters, we’ll never leave you,” he continued, taking in my body and grinning, when he picked up on my arousal. He breathed in deeply and smirked, leaning down and lavishing my body with kisses – starting at the

  • Surrogate to the Blood Alpha   Chapter 90: Bonds that Binds

Selena’s POV“How did your father not pass away from the pain of losing his mate?”Rain’s question surprised me, as nobody had ever been interested – at least not in front of me. I knew that in front of the pack, he’d told them that rogues had killed her, and it was only by the grace of the goddess that he survived. Hell, some whispered that the fact that he didn’t die was a sign from the goddess herself that he was meant to lead…It made me sick!“My guess?” I replied, since I’d thought about it a lot since it happened. “He distanced himself from her long before he had her killed!”He was never really home, and the few times that he was, he would spend them doing his alpha duties. And if he ever spent any time with my mom, he would always make it insufferable if I were anywhere around. As a child, I didn’t understand why he hated
