Chapter 3

Sweet Escape

I run my fingers to the pieces of equipment inside the room. It's dusty and old but hell yeah this is what I am looking for.

I walked inside the room and scanned the big mirror placed on the wall. It's clean because Lola Nini cleans it for sure. I looked at myself and by looking you can say I am okay.

I sat on the mat to open the cellphone. Fifteen unread messages and five missed calls shook me and shook me more when it rings loudly. It's Miggy, I smiled a bit. I answered his call right away because this person might get angry again if I took too long to answer.

"What's up?" I opened up to him but he didn't seem happy because I heard him clap on the other line. "Tsk! What's up ?! What's up ?! Really ?? I've been calling you Dey for how many before! What's that? Is it hard to say where you're going?" I put the cellphone away from my ear because of the loudness of his voice.

"Didn't I say let's go home together earlier? Why didn't you wait for me? Akisha said she left you so she doesn't know where you are!" his voice changed. I know he's just holding back and doesn't want to shout at me. "I'm home. I'm fine hehe" I told him and followed him with a soft giggle.

"Really? Are you really home now?" he asked me using his doubtful voice. I scanned the surrounding before answering him. "Yes indeed. I'm already in the house. I'm already sleepy, if you see me you will see that my eyes are closed" I followed Miggy's answer with a laugh.

"Just make sure Dey. By the way, have you had dinner yet?" I looked at my phone and saw that it is already six in the evening. "Later, when you know, I'll just have my dinner." I heard him sigh on the other line.

"You'll get past that. I'll bring you the food you want? What do you like for dinner?" NO! He might even go home and that would be a big problem. I am sorry Miggy for lying but I have to make excuses.

"It's okay, I'm still full. I'll just eat earlier so I'll have dinner later." I replied to him "How about you? Are you home?" I asked him.

"Yeah, earlier I was waiting for your text message but no one came. You also don't answer my calls" he said to me and I can imagine his annoyed face while saying these to me.

"I said sorry! Hahahaha don't be angry. Tomorrow we'll just go to school together so you won't be angry. What's the deal?" I teased him and successfully I heard a slight chuckle on the other line. "Okay. I'll wait for you outside your subdivision. Text me if you're done preparing and I'll also text when I'm out" I nodded and stopped remembering that he couldn't see me.

"Okay, okay I understand boss. I'm asleep and you should sleep too. Good night" I said to him to dismiss the topic. He sighed on the other line again. "Okay, good night. If you wake up later, eat dinner at least a little. If you continue to sleep, just eat tomorrow. I'll bring you some" he said to me.

"Okay bye bye really sleep well and see you tomorrow!" I told him enthusiastically. "So cute deydey hahaha. Okay, bye see you tomorrow" he said while laughing. After that, I dropped the call again. I scanned the messages and saw that of the fifteen unread messages, not all of them were from Miggy.

Ten messages were from him - asking where I was and if I had returned home. The other two were from Globe telling me that I was about to expire my load and I needed to reload. One from Akisha reminding me that our class schedule was different the next day.

And the last two were from an unknown number. My forehead furrowed, who is this? In the past, someone texted my classmate that he just wanted to sneeze, so they just tried. I opened it to read the message and my forehead furrowed even more at what I read.

"Hey good evening, are you home yet? This is Travis and I am sorry if I asked Akisha for your number without your permission" Travis? The second message goes like this "Hope you eat the foods that we took out, good evening again to you" without hesitation I immediately saved the number and named the contacts with his full name.
