Chapter 3

Skylar POV

I came out of the examination and couldn't find Leon

'Where's he?' I thought in alarm, i looked around and couldn't find him 'where the hell is he? Did he leave?'

"He might be in your room don't panic" i loosen up a bit at what the nurse said

'He must be in my room' i grinned at how i relied on him, in just one night i don't even want him out of my eyesight

I wondered how we lived as a couple. 'Were we romantic or romantically involved, was it toxic or were we just a normal couple'

I can tell Leon respected and looked out for me

We must be……

"Shit why keep us waiting?" I heard a cosmopolitan voice just before the nurse wheeled me into my ward

Even the nurse stop wheeling when she heard the voice

"Nobody forced you to be here and if you want you can still go back home it's not too late to leave" a masculine voice said

The voice sounds powerful and full of authority.

"James!" She yelled quite miffed

"What?" He replied with the same energy

"You just need to pretend we are good parents, we need to give her the idea that we are good to her and make her trust us completely. Is that hard to do?".

"And you think this will work" the man replied not buying her idea

"I've known Skylar since she was born, I know how stupid she can be I know for a fact that this will work" she said like a proud mother happy about her daughter's success, but it's the other way around she's happy cause she's driving her daughter to her doom

I had a bumpy idea about what happening

The fact that the two people inside are my parents and the fact that they hated me to bone

I can't help but feel hurt, my cheat suddenly hurt I had to hold her chest in pain and took deep breaths to calm my emotion down

"You ok?"The nurse worried about me.

"I'm fine," l and lift my head, I poised and decided to go in, i've got to face them and now is the time

"Let go in" i muttered

"You sure?" The nurse asked and i nodded

The nurse opened the door and wheeled me in

The woman's eyes widen in surprise, and she forgot whatever she was saying when she saw me

I looked at her with awareness, she looks young maybe early thirties, and her dress shoe, and bag smelled of extravagance

She's curvy in all places, and she had this shrew look, I can't help to smirk

I turned to the man he was pot-bellied short and plum man

He looked like he was in his fifties

"It's Skylar," the woman said with a smile that looks more like a frown

"Skylar...you….how many of that...that did you hear?" She asked fearfully

But i decided to play innocent

"Who are you?" I asked as if i never heard their conversation

"Ohh my God Skylar you must have hit your head you can't even remember your mother" she wailed and moved closer to me she hugged me as tears fell from her eyes she held me tighter

I frowned and almost puked from the heavy smell of her perfume, it took me a lot to hold it in

The woman released her after a while, and she finally breathe out

"It I, your mother," She said and sniff, she clean her fake tears and look at me with love

I can't help to praise her inwardly for her acting

I can't believe she's the one talking about me a few minutes ago it was as if she's been switched with someone else

"Momma missed you as soon as I heard you are ok, I came immediately sorry it took a while"

I tried hard to play along

'What nonsense is this woman spewing? She acts all loving it obvious she's faking it and I'm starting to get irked' i thought and can't help but look at the door, i can't wait for Leon to be back I'm tired of this bunch of people called family

"Skylar" the man who seems to be my father spoke for the first time

I looked up at him, and he opened and closed his mouth about three times, it is obvious he got nothing to say

My so-called mom placed her hands into mine

"Skylar, how about you go back home with us when you get discharged"

'I can't even walk and they are talking about going home. It's obvious am to be used and later jilted' I can't help but sigh.

"You're going home with us right?"

"She's going nowhere with you" Leon whom we don't know is present said with possessiveness

I breathe in relief when she saw him, I can finally calm down

I looked at him as if telling him to come to me and he moved closer to me as if he can read my eyes

My mom moved as Leon moved closer, she frowned and glared at Leon but still make way for him

"Leon I know you are married but I think it better for her to go home with us, it will help her recover," she said raising her eyebrow to show how serious she is

"She can also recover at my place" Leon replied with a cold voice I had never heard, he used to be gentle with me and i have never seen him upset at anyone or anything

"Leon I know you are worried but Skylar will be safe…."

She shut up when Leon gave her ferocious gaze

"I think it's about time we leave," James said and pulled his wife to his side, he had got enough of her

"Skylar get well soon we will be back," He said and turned to leave

"Skylar Mom will be back, take care of yourself darling, momma loves you" My so-called mom said and waved at me she glared at her husband and followed him out reluctantly

"you ok?"Leon asked worry written all over his face

"I'm fine" i replied and he wheeled her chair to the bed and carried her into it, i blushed and covered her face with my hands

She heard Leon chuckled

"Why are you so shy?"

He asked even though he knows exactly why

I blushed harder noticing the smile playing on Leon's face

My heart can't help but skip a beat

'He's wickedly handsome, even my heart is beating just looking at his smile' I shaked her head to clear her thought

Leon sat down and took my hand into his

"Skylar about your family"

The happiness i felt suddenly vanished and her smile disappear almost immediately I frowned and felt hurt

"What about them?" I tried so hard to sound unbothered about them

"I know you don't fully trust me now but don't trust them either…."

"You are trying to say my family is dangerous and can harm me right?"

I cut in

"No I don't mean it that way I meant,they are…. they are…" Leon stuttered unable to complete what he wanted to say

He doesn't know how to tell me about them and I can tell there's something he's hiding from me but for some reasons I decided to trust him,I believe he can't hurt me

"It ok I don't trust them either they sound fake"i said without emotion, Leon can't help but make eye contact with me, his eyes widening as if he realized something

"you remember?? " He asked with excitement

"Remember what?" I asked with confusion i wondered what Leon meant or what i was supposed to remember

I saw his excitement die down and was replaced with disappointment

"It ok you will remember with time" he assured almost to himself

"Diana what the hell was that"James yelled pissed off he was holding it in since they left the hospital

Diana rolled her eyes nonchalantly

"what did I do wrong, am just trying to be a good mother"

"And what sort of mother is that fake can't you feel it even Skylar can tell" James yelled louder this time

"Calm down James she believed me can't you tell"

"You sound even more stupid than Skylar you keep getting dull"

"James!" What he said triggered her this time

"I'm not taking insults from you am doing this for us since you can't kill her I have to do the needful don't get on my nerve" she yelled in one breath, kicked the porcelain kept for decoration the porcelain scattered with a loud sound

"You crazy??" James yelled his vein bulging out

Diana ignored him and kicked the vase nearby, James almost lose control but he managed to control himself

He watched as Diana moved to their room, her loud steps, and growling

She opened the door to the door entered and banged it

"I'm gonna teach you a lesson" he muttered to himself and look at the items she kicked, the anger he was trying to control before exploding

"Godammit, do you know how much this cost, you woman are gonna…."

"Go Fuck Yourself!!" He heard Diana screamed from the room
