Tearing my eyes from Malcolm's angry face-- he's been getting real mad and unable to hide the hate he has for me-- I turn to my secretary and arch my brow at her.

"I-I'm sorry, I tried to stop him," Susan stuttered with tears in her eyes. Poor thing! She must've been terrified when he barged in. Susan hates confrontations and anyone who tries to challenge authority. She hates standing up to people and is easily frightened but she's a damn good secretary nonetheless.

"Caroline?" Kris calls through the phone and I suddenly remember I was still talking to him before this beast of a man barged in.

I want to walk away when I see Malcolm reach for me from the corner of my eyes. I smack his hand off my arm and offer him a little smile. He's stunned by my reaction that he does nothing as I head to the table and end the call.

"Ahem!" Mr. Williams cleared his throat, drawing my attention.
