Sleep immediately cleared from Drake’s eyes and he adjusted to observe what was going on. The glow had started from her back so he gently moved her so she was lying on the floor away from the bloody bed.

The light grew brighter and brighter, like thin vein lines that connected to every part of her body. He noticed that the scale had been completely absorbed by her body and the wounds and gashes were healing up at a fast rate.

The scale really worked, he was still in disbelief. They would both be dead by now if it didn't and he was glad he could remember such a memory at a timely moment.

He was still watching her when he noticed something familiar. The glowing vein lines weren't just lines, it was outlines of dragon scales. He had seen them too many times to be mistaken.

“These lines… They look like hidden dragon scales. What could this mean?” he muttered to himself as he slowly tried to trace the Iines but hesitated and withdrew his hand.

    Elaina casually walked past Lord Xavier's chamber as if looking for something important for the umpteenth time. She subtly glanced at the door and when she saw the two guards were still guarding it, she almost hissed out in frustration. She had been hoping this was going to be a quick in and out but had neglected the fact that his chambers were heavily guarded like he had some bizarre secret he was hiding. She had planned to go in immediately after Xavier left that morning but the guards had prevented her till evening came. She tried to remain calm and observe the situation, she was sure that there was going to be a time the guards would leave their post and even if it was for a minute, it would be enough time to slip in stealthily.
