""Where is Lord Xavier? Is he in his chambers?” Elaina asked a maid as she sat down for breakfast.

“Lord Xavier left for the palace at the break of dawn, he went on a hunting trip with the king” she replied with her head slightly bowed in respect.

Elaina nodded in understanding, pleased with the information. It was relieving to know Xavier was away, he always made her uncomfortable. Now she could move around freely without his watchful eyes, that also meant it was the perfect time to go back to her old town and speak to Reina again.

“Oh yes, he informed me about it yesterday. It's refreshing to see him spend some much needed time with the king” she commented with a smile and resumed her meal. She still had to be careful in case he placed a spy to watch her.

Once she was done eating, she packed some essentials and got ready before informing the guards that she would be heading to the dungeon.

She decided to search the house once more, there might be something she has been missing and there was no way the culprit vanished into thin air like a ghost.
