LOGINXavier was confused. He turned around, but couldn't find the woman who was with him in the room.
"That bitch," He murmured, putting his length back in. He turned to the girl who had gotten into his room. He stared at her for a while before smirking. "You've got guts, but you do know I can end your life with just a snap of my fingers." She smirked. She moved around his room, staring at the stuff he had. "You can." She touched the tip of a sword that was hanging on the wall. "But I don't think that would help either of us." Xavier raised a brow at her. "So what do you think you have that can help me?" "Well, you need a woman who can seduce a dragon, and I need the reward from the King." "So many women have tried to seduce the dragon," He said, walking towards her. He held her hand before she touched an artifact by the corner. He pulled her closer, staring into her blue eyes. "What makes you think you can?" She chuckled before gently pulling her hand away from his. "All my life I have lived in a tavern. I have watched people make endless love to each other. I know what to do, how to do it, and what not to do." She walked towards a chair next to his and sat on it. "If you are looking for someone to do the job, then I don't think you'll ever find someone better than me." Xavier was intrigued. He stared at the girl as she sat like a noblewoman in the King's court. But, from the way she was dressed, he knew she was nothing more than a peasant. He sighed. He had tried noble ladies and peasants, those who were skilled in the art and those who weren't, so why not try this girl? Besides, she was beautiful. Her long blonde hair flowed to her waist, her blue eyes could catch anyone's attention and pull them like a magnet, and her skin was smooth and flawless. She looked the part, so what more could he lose? He walked towards her and sat down. "Fine, I'll give you a shot, but first of all, tell me, how were you able to get up through my window." "I'm sorry Mage, but I'm sure you know this too well." She folded her arms. "A Magician never reveals her secret." The Mage chuckled. "So tell me, what is the name of this brave damsel?" She smiled. "You can call me Elaina." *** Elaina stood by the gate. She had been adorned by the Mage's maids. When the Mage arrived, he handed her a torch and then a harp. "What do you need this for?" He asked. She smiled. "It's part of my plan." He just looked from her to the harp. "Then I expect great news from you then." Elaina curtsied before turning around. Slowly, she went down the flight of stairs. When she got to the bottom, she searched for a torch holder. She lit the ones she found, giving light to the dark dungeon. She turned around, surveying everywhere. She was alone. There was another gate by the corner, a smaller one, but it was shut. That was where the dragon was—she guessed. She sat down on the floor and started playing the harp. A minute turned to an hour, but she didn't stop, she just kept playing. Suddenly she heard footsteps approaching. At first, it was faint, but then it became more audible—he was getting closer. Then, she heard the gate open. She looked up to find a tall man walking towards her. His skin shimmered like hidden scales, and his golden eyes burned like fire flakes, with its slit pupils cutting through it. His black hair gleamed like molten metal. He was handsome, so handsome—Elaina couldn't stop staring at him. As he approached her, her heartbeat fastened. When he was right in front of her, he crouched down, meeting her eye level. He had a stoic look on his face, never batting his eyelids. All of a sudden Elaina heard the cracking of wood. Her eyes widened as she looked down to find the harp crushed under his arm. "I hate music," He muttered, his voice deep and raspy, laced with a hint of disdain. Without saying anything else, he stood and walked away. Elaina was shocked. She watched as he walked back into the small gate. Then she frowned. She was furious. She stood up and walked through the gate. It was not as big as she thought. Bones lay scattered on the floor. She felt fear creep in, but pushed it away. She looked around, and found him at a corner, sitting on the floor. She hurried towards him and threw the broken harp next to him. The dragon was shocked. "Do you know that it costs a fortune?!" Elaina yelled at him. He pushed the harp away and picked up a bone covered with meat. He was about to take a bite when she slapped it away. "How dare you?!" He yelled at her as he stood. "No, how dare you?!" She screamed. He took a few steps back, confused and stunned. "Didn't your Mom ever teach you how to treat a woman?!" He stared at her with bewildered eyes, not knowing what to say. This was the first time in centuries that a human had treated him this way. Creasing his brows he looked from her to the broken harp. He smirked. "My Mom never taught me how to treat a human woman right," he said before sitting down. Elaina chuckled. "Then she should have, because right now, you are in a spot that only a human woman can get you out of." "What makes you think so?" She crouched down in front of him. "You may try to hide it, but I can see through your facade. The sweat breaking out on your temple, your weak pupils, your slow but heavy steps, it's written all over you. You are in a lot of pain because of your estrus period and you need help—" "—I will never mate with a human!" He yelled as he glared at her, cutting her off. She snickered. "Who said anything about mating?" He raised a brow at her, confused. "What do you mean?" She sighed. "I do not want to mate with you...I want to help you escape."Lord Xavier exchanged goodbyes with Lord Elliot before stepping into his carriage and heading to the palace. As his closest advisor, council member and great magician, he was obligated to check up on the wounded king. Asides that he wanted to see the satisfactory scene of King Alfred paying for his foolishness. Drake and Elaina had helped him scratch an itch and they were the ones affected… even better. When he arrived at the palace, he was led to the infirmary where king Alfred was undergoing treatment. He kept his face sad and full of sympathy that was sincerely just for show. Not even the king dying moved him.The king's chamber for treatment was like a luxurious room, popular physicians troped in and out trying to expend all their knowledge and resources to save Alfred's life.Once Xavier walked in they bowed in respect and stepped out one by one to give them some privacy. Except the royal physician who sat by his side to actively tend to him.Xavier got closer and observed his co
Elaina pulled away from Drake's arms and straightened. She was utterly terrified by the realization they just had and she struggled to process it. Drake was left out either, he immediately got up to his feet and began pacing back and forth with dread on his face. As if they were not already struggling enough, their situation just got way worse.“Maybe we are getting worked up over nothing, Drake. We can't be completely sure he has the essence just because he missed fortifying the cell securely… right?” Elaina spoke up with desperation while looking at Drake's form with hopeful eyes. They still had so much to do even though Drake's escape was a big milestone for them. It wasn't exactly an escape either if they were both wanted fugitives and with a beaten up king by the side. They still had to play the musical call, find out the imposter who took Drake's essence, save both kingdoms and find her mother.Xavier with the essence would definitely not give them time to do all that, his fi
While all that was happening, Elaina turned restlessly in her sleep. She was definitely exhausted after the events of that day and her body was begging to rest but her mind was restless. Their current situation worried her, she felt stuck on what to do next. The couldn't be the end of all their hopes and dreams.Aside from that, king Alfred tormented her. She would see him everytime she closed her eyes. He had traumatized her with his actions deeply and she wasn't sure she would be able to recover from it anytime soon. She kept seeing the sick expression on his face, his naked body hovering over her and his disgusting phallus touching her entrance. A shiver would ran over her repeatedly and no matter how much she tried to distract herself, it kept replaying over and over again. How did everything get to this point? She wondered. No matter how much Alfred had claimed to want her for himself, she never thought he would be that desperate to force himself to that extent. Her naivety ha
Xavier almost couldn't believe his ears, he stood frozen to a spot as he processed what Elliot just told him.He finally regained himself a few seconds later and his next action surprised Elliot. “Let’s talk in my private study, Lord Elliot… I'm afraid the walls has ears and we cannot discuss matters concerning the king so openly”Elliot nodded unsurely and followed him to his study. He had expected Xavier to be sad with the news because he was the king's closest advisor but he wasn't. He wasn't exactly the catch any type of gossip outside kingdom duties so he was unaware of how broken the king and Xavier's relationship was.He was beginning to see why Xavier could brazenly attempt to dethrone Alfred. They were sworn enemies just tolerating each other's presence. As if to confirm Elliot's thoughts, Xavier burst into laughter as soon as he closed the door of his study. He had been holding it in since at the foyer and now he could release the joy in his heart at the king's pain.“Lord X
A knock came from the door and a voice followed, “My Lord, a letter have arrived from the palace” A guard announced.Xavier paused what he was doing and his face fell into a frown. A letter from the palace could only mean it was from the king but what could he possibly want? What the king had done was still fresh in his mind, he had humiliated him for the sake of a peasant and disregarded his position as his closest advisor. Xavier had vowed to take his revenge and had resolved to staying away from anything related to the king. He thought they wouldn't have any reason to discuss anymore so he was confused by the announced letter.Xavier contemplated within himself and finally replied the guard, “Keep the letter till I'm done. I do not want to be disturb right now”After he said that, he returned his attention to what was in front of him and pushed the thought of the king and the letter to back of his mind. Xavier was busy with making his special weapon and was very meticulous so as
Drake held Elaina's hand tightly and they ran out of the king's chambers and moved in the opposite direction to where the guards were coming from.“Where do we go? The main entrance and exit will be closely guarded. We need an exit that they wouldn't think to guard” Drake said as they ran with no clear direction but avoiding any approaching footsteps. Save for his dragon hearing, he didn't have to see them before changing directions.Elaina tried to keep up with him, the traumatizing events of the past few hours still weighed her down and she was struggling to focus on the matter at hand. She heard what Drake said and tried to think of a solution to their problem. She hadn't had the time to explore the mansion but she had spent considerable time there. There had to be an exit that could take safely out of the palace. She racked her brain hard and suddenly she remembered something important.“I know an exit. It's located at the royal kitchen and it leads to the servant quarters. I ha
