Chapter twelve ~ Bros&Hoes

Go through the darkest of days

Heavens a heartbreak away

√√

Loud music from a Dj standing on a stage blared through the disco lit popular 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐬&𝐇𝐨𝐞𝐬 club. Two girls, one of which was clad in a mini black v-neck flare gown and a pair of black booty heels accentuating her slender figure. Her gothic makeup rounded up her looks. They arrived in front of the two hefty bouncers in black suit standing on guard. Tola dipped her hands into a silver clutch purse, bringing out a pass card. Both bouncers nodded in approval, giving them a pass. Yara proceeded to step in when one of the them held out his hands to prevent her.

"Passcard?" He asked in a straight tone, glaring down at her which she effortlessly reciprocated the action.

Tola cocked an eyebrow at them.

"She's with me."

They quickly, without another word, gave the both girls a quick pass. Yara gave an eye-roll, already taking notice of the hint of apology which had flashed through their gaze. Shouldering their way through the sea of individuals dancing and twerking. There was something quite off at the way they seemed to look at Tola. Something which she couldn't figure out now maybe because that was the least of her problems. She recalled the earlier conversation she had with Tola after she had showed up so late at her windows. The conversation hadn't been all pleasant coupled with the fact that it had dragged her here.

"Tola?" She had whispered in shock. Her widened eyes scanned the girl who looked dolled up in a mini silver coloured gown and a pair of peach coloured heels accentuating her curves. She looked strangely overexcited as she climbed in through the window.

"What are you..."

"Please don't ask me why I'm here by this time. alright?" She made her way to the duvet covered bed, exploring the dim lighted monochromed room through her contact lens.

Yara rolled her eyes exhaustively. Frankly, she wanted to ask. But this was Tola she was talking to here. The girl who wouldn't say nada to even her own shadow so instead of a 'why are you here?" She rather asked.

"How have you been?"

"As always. You?"

"Horrible. i have the whole world throwing shades at me coupled with me having to face Zaria and her scheming bitchy friend. April." She said, letting out a tired sigh.

"Did they try shit with you? Do you want us to deal with them?" Tola had her fist clenched tightly, giving yara a dead dark look as though she was ready to lay off someone from the surface of the earth.

Yara chuckled "I already handled that."

"How?"

"I told them I was going to gift her with the devil's true colors."

Tola drew her head back, cocking her brows in amusement. Her lips twitching to the side

"Umm...beg to ask what that means?"

Yara smiled, " I actually didn't have words for them so I gave a warning cause I probably wouldn't hesitate to use my fist next time."

"Such a gentle lady." Tola said in a singsong tone causing the latter to throw a scoff at her.

"Is your mum home?"

"Yes. Why? Did you just remember that now"?

She rolled her eyes with a scoff accompanying her actions,  "she's a pain. No offense."

Yara frowned, "bitch that's my mum you're talking about."

Tola held out her hand in mock surrender, "alright I'm sorry."

A momentary silence hung around them before Yara called out quietly.

"You didn't actually dress like this to come see me right?"

Tola smirked, " yeah yeah! always the smartass."

"Where were you off to?"

"Clubbing. Wanna come?"

"No."

Tola let out a snort,  "of course...B.B must have been taking a toll on you. I almost forgot you were a student."

"I've had a rough day," she grumbled.

Tola drew her lips into a lopsided grin, tossing a small wrapped stuff at her, "this could help."

"What's this?" Yara inquired with eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"Something different...let's say, it's some part of my business." she replied, taking a piece of paper from the bedside drawer, she poured a little of the substance on the paper before taking a deep inhalation.

Yara scoffed watching Tola's actions,  "Drugs?Weed?"

"Yes. " The latter grinned.

"Did you..." she trailed off in dreadful whispers.

"Chill. It's nothing. Besides what's the difference between both of us? You use drugs and I sell them. It's easier for you to even get them now." tola sad the last part with a smile.

"You got to be fucking joking now." Yara sighed in exasperation.

" I needed it badly Yara..." Tola chimed in, letting out a gloomy sigh at Yara's impassive expression, "you don't understand. Do you?"

"How should I?" She snapped in response, " I gave you a hundred thousand Tola. That was my last card and you used it to do some drug business shit."

"Why do you care what I used the money to do? Relax, some people are asleep Besides, I'll pay you back."

"Tola what the fuck is going on with you? You disappeared in a space of 48 hours and suddenly you showed up at my windows acting like everything is good and what? you fucking selling drugs."

"And why does it bother you so much? Since when?! "

"I'm bothered because it hasn't been long since the police chased after you." Yara raised her tone. Running her hair back in irritation.

Tola sighed, plastering a small smile, she drew closer to Yara. "I know you're worried about me. But I'm fine. Trust me."

Yara scoffed, "tell me about it."

"Well, I'm sorry I'm not the one with shifty parents who still have the decency to care about how I live my life alright? " The fair girl snapped angrily

"What?"

"I'm trying to survive Yara and I'm doing all I can to do that but you don't get it cause you have a room over your head you go to not just any school but one of the best and despite how shitty your life is, you still have a place to call a home unlike me who have nothing but a kid leaning on me whom I got to fend for ....." she trailed off, her pupils going huge as she brought her palms over her mouth.

Yara swallowed hard, giving Tola who looked everywhere else except her a bewildered stare , she asked quietly.

"Other things aside, did you just say you have a child?"

"Fuck!" Tola cussed under her breath.

"Was that why your parents...."

"Fucking drop it. Yara. " she snapped, rubbing her palms on her temples.

Yara nodded, biting her lower lips in between her teeth, she gulped down.

"Where are we going anyway?"

Tola's sullen look had quickly lit up excitedly as she began pulling out dresses for her friend who insisted on donning an all black outfit. Needless to say, they both looked beautiful.

•••

Neon lights which looked like police sirens flashed around in a colorful fashion swirling around the bodies strip dancing on iron poles. At the side of the club was a counter with a male bartender wiping glasses whilst taking order from his attendees.

The stench of drugs, cigarettes, sweat and weeds floated through the air, bodies sweating and grinding on each other. Yara lit a stick of cigarettes which she had gotten from the club, puffing the smoke lazily through the air. She scanned around for Tola who seemed to be in a deep conversation with some guy who had dreads and tattoos around his body.

She scowled, watching him run his hands on her bum while Tola who seemed uncomfortable plaster a smile at the pervert. She watched as he kept trying to run his fingers around her bosom. She huffed, tossing the cigarettes away.

"Hey idiot! Get the fuck away from her." she growled. The guy snapped his brows up, sizing her up before running his tongues through his lower lip.

"And who the fuck are you?"

Yara narrowed a pointed glare at him,  "someone who wouldn't hesitate to hit your balls if you dare shit with me."

He smirked,  "wow, feisty, " throwing her a wink which she scrunched at in disgust,  "I like that."

She turned her attention to Tola who had an alarmed look,  "let's get out of here."

The guy circled his arms around Tola, pulling her closer to him with a smirk,  "she ain't going nowhere baby girl." he whispered placing a kiss on a nervous Tola who shuddered beside him.

The air had intensified around them,  attracting a few to the scene. Yara clenched her jaws, lurching at them in seething anger coursing through her. She pushed Tola away from the dread-haired tattooed guy before kneading him in his groin.

"Fuck! Bitch."

He cussed, yelping in pain. His hands clutched onto his groin whilst he gritted his teeth, sending a death glare at Yara who smirked.

Pointing a dark look at him, her gothic eye makeup enhancing her eyes narrowed into deadly slits,  "now get the hell away from my friend and never show your rotten face again "

" Yara what the hell do you think you're doing? " Tola hissed, pulling her roughly away.

"You weren't going to stop him from disgustingly touching you that way.”

"That is not your business Yara. What if I fucking wanted him to do that?"

Yara shot back in anger,  "then you wouldn't be acting like worms are crawling over you."

"Jeez! what the hell is wrong with you?” Tola growled.

"You need to get your ass fucking laid. Bitch you're overreacting. " dread haired guy leered at Yara.

She glared icily at him, "say that again and I'll hurl your fucking brain out of your skull and feed 'em to street dogs." She warned dangerously.

"For fucksake Yara! I get you didn't want to come here and i practically dragged you, but don't fucking cause a ruckus." Tola yelled in exasperation.

Yara scoffed, staring at her in disbelief, "a ruckus?"

" Yes" Tola muttered profanities under her breath, bringing her gaze back at yara,  "he's my boss and you shouldn't have fucking messed with him."  she said in a scared undertone.

Yara eyed the tattooed guy who had a leered smirk sprawled on his face in disgust.

"Your boss?! "

Tola said nothing, giving her a dark glare. Yara rolled her eyes at her, drowning a shot of tequila nearby, before stomping out of the club. Tola sighed in exasperation, running her hands through her hair. Dread-haired tattooed guy sneered, draping his arms around her waist.

"Bitch is insane.,”  he snorted at Yara's retreating figure, spanking Tola's bum,"get ready, there's work.”

Tola bit her lips, flashing him a faux smile in response.

••••

A wave of fresh air hit her skin, coursing through her nerves as soon as she stepped out of the club. She ran her hands through her air breathing in seething anger.

Fuck! Fuck Tola and everything that happened in there.

She cussed under breath. She knew if she was in Tola's position back in the club, Tola will do the same thing she did or even worse. She was only trying to protect her friend but what? Her boss? A ruckus and all the rubbish she spilled out at her. She fleetingly wondered whatelse Tola did as part of her numerous survival schemes.

Fuck Tola!

She was her closest best friend but now she couldn't help wondering how close they were?

Dipping her hands into a shiny black clutch purse which she carried along, she pulled out a blunt tola had given her. A vague sight of the boy curly hair and coffee eyes lashed through memory downplaying her actions. She grunted, tossing the the blunt in frustration.

What the hell was going on with her? She cussed mentally, rolled another blunt, lit it before holding it in between her Index finger and placing it between her lips. She sucked in deeply, allowing it burn her insides before slowly exhaling. She sighed, feeling quite relieved she traipsied without an apparent plan of going home when a figure bumped into her, spilling drinks all over her body. She stumbled back in annoyance.

"Shit I'm so sorry..." the person apologized in a raspy tone, holding onto her arms to prevent her from falling.

"Why do you have eyes In front of your head if you know you don't use them?" She scowled flapping her hands through her gown.

"I already said sorry alright." he muttered. She brought up her gaze at him.

"You..."

She stopped. Blinking in surprise as he locked his gaze on hers with mouth agape.

"George? "

"What are you doing here?" She asked.

"Clubbing." he replied. His surprised expression morphed into a lopsidedsmile, tossing the rest of the drink away,"did you come with someone? "

"A friend."

"Toby? "

Yara furrowed her brows,  "no. Why would I come with toby?"

He bit his lips, pocketing one of his arm into the ripped jean which he wore with a vintage tee and a pair of loafers. He titled his head to the side, revealing a shiny dot earring.

"Dunno. Someone actually claimed to have seen you both in some abandoned classroom. You two seemed pretty close." he replied with an awkward chuckle.

She rolled her eyes, muttering under her breath,  "guess I wouldn't be able to breath in that school at all."

" I didn't believe you guys are close anyway. Especially when I saw the way you left the cafeteria." George continued.

"We actually were together in the classroom..." she confirmed, glancing at his surprised expression before adding.

"Talking. "

He gulped, "so...why did you..leave the cafeteria like that?"

"No reason."

"You serious?"  he quizzed with a raised eyebrow.

She shrugged,  "I'm used to being by myself so I guess when you guys came around I just felt uncomfortable."

George nodded in understanding. Both strolling in side to side steps. He noticed her shudder abit, wrapping her arms around herself.

"Do you mind?" he asked in uncertainty, wondering if he should pull her closer to himself for warmth

"I'm fine." she replied flatly, crushing the butts of the cigarettes with her heels.

"I'm actually surprised you're trying to get used to people around you." he remarked.

She abruptly halted her steps, turning sharply at him, "I don't think that's the case."

"You don't even know him yet you talked with him." George pointed out.

"That's because he seems different." she stated,  "sometimes I wonder if he doesn't hear what people say 'bout me because he keeps wanting to talk with me."

"You're not a bad person."

"How sure are you that i'm not? " She asked withe a dry chuckle,  "besides, the rumours maybe true."

He fell silent. Well she was right. This was something he didn't know about her and Yara on her part, never tried to deny the rumours, putting up a closed off demeanour.

"Well," she continued. "He was the first person to ask me if I was doing okay." She paused for a moment.

"He actually did ask me. I haven't heard that question in a long long time so I got flustered when he asked. But sometimes.. Infact, I'm not sure about what he is like. He says stuffs that are impossible to believe.. It irks me because I get hopeful. But hope is for dreamers. And I've not known myself to be one. Fuck! I don't even know myself." she let out a dry laugh

"I'm weird right?"

He studied her in silence, the way her perfect small lips curved up when she spoke. Her brown eyes which stared blankly ahead of them. Dark and empty sky empty blanketed the enviroment with only a lone moon standing out. Illuminating the environment in a dim lit fashion. Her alto toned voice filled the silent air around them.

He looked away, gulping hard, "yes...you're weird. Absolutely."

She smiled, "thanks for the obvious."

He laughed in reply, falling in step with her as they both walked through the silent road.

"How 'bout your friend? "

"She'll be fine. L" she deadpanned shuddering again, he averted his gaze at her in concern.

"Are you sure you don't mind my warmth? "

This time she flashed him a warm smile, "I'm fine. Don't make me say thank you.”

He chuckled,  "it wouldn't be so bad."

She snorted with a shrug,  "I'm bad at being grateful.”

He goggled at her in feigned shock,  "weirdo. " he said bursting into laughter alongside Yara who plastered a lopsided grin.

•••

Tuesday seemed like any other regular day at school. Usual students crowding the hallway, prefects raking at the top of their voices to ensure orderly environment. Punishing late comers and students defaulting the school regulations. Toby leaned over the rails a feet apart from the B classroom with his headphones over his ear.

Sarah bounced towards him, greeting her classmates with cheerful hello's and laughter. She pulled the headphone away causing him to groan.

"Seriously? "

She smirked,  "you're a student. Act like one.”

He rolled his eyes playfully at her in reply.

"So did you get Yara to choose the what Bluebell's special services she'd like?"

"Nah. She says she really didn't care about that."

Sarah huffed "damn her! What do I do with her now?”

"I dunno, you're the Bluebell's special service president." he smirked.

"I'm not." she replied firmly.

"Yeah you wish. Why else will principal Meyers ask you to handle that? "

She exhaled,  "because according to her, I'm the best person to handle this."

"Figures."  he agreed making Sarah glare at him.

"Are you going to give me a tip or should l just bury you alive? " he laughed.

"You should try convincing her yourself then." he said suggestively.

"Speak of the devil" Sarah mumbled, her eyes were fixed at the direction of the hallway. Toby trailed his gaze after her, eyes landing on the familiar frame of the beautiful slender girl who had the rest of the students making way for her as she passed by. Her presence commanded that much attention.

She had her hair bounce around her shoulders as she walked past.the familiar 'don't mess with me' expression rested on her face with one of her hands holding the strap of her bag and the other in her skirt pockets. Their gaze locked for a second. Her cold glare and his warm gaze. For a second it was like a collision of storm and sparks. She tore her gaze from him, strutting into her class with her chins held high.

"Are you sure I can stand talking to her though. I don't think I can see that happening." Sarah mumbled out aloud.

"Why? She's human afterall."

She sighed, "yeah...such cold-blooded human.”

" She's just alot more than you can handle." he teased.

Sarah snorted, "yeah seriously. Tell me about it." for a second before she bit her lower lips, scrutinizing him with furrowed eyebrows before exhaling.

"Don't tell me you're trying to be friends with her?"

"Friendships don't start easily. I'm just being human." he said matter of fact.

Sarah grinned,  "woah! When did you grow up so well?" She teased.

Toby laughed in reply, "get outta here."

"Are you guys dating? " Debra who had happened to pass by asked suspiciously.

"No."

"Yes. " Sarah chirped, smiling widely. He swerved his attention to her, staring at her like she just exchanged her brain with bricks.

"Awwwnn. You two really look good together." she cooed.

Sarah grinned, running her hands gently through his hair whilst placing a soft kiss on his cheeks,  "I know right."

"Have you lost your marbles?" Toby asked at a beaming Sarah.

"Yes, a long time ago." she tugged his cheeks making him grunt, "see you later boyfriend."

He huffed. Jesus Christ! Sarah was a whole lot. Knowing Debra, she was going to soon announce to everyone that they both are dating. Geez! What the fuck was Sarah thinking.

Umm...she never thought! His subconscious reminded him again and he laugh.
