Cindy looked up as her door was violently pushed open to see Megan's face, awash with pain, staring at them. She had also been shocked by Liana's words but never expected that Megan would hear such heart-wrenching words.

"How can you be so senseless?" she screamed at Liana as she sprung from the bed and rushed to Megan who had folded in shock.

Logan, who had been leading Megan to the kitchen to make her a meal after a lot of coaxing, rushed into the room just in time to hold her before she hit the ground. Together with Cindy, they carried her back to her room while Liana was left smacking.

"I hope she dies from the shock," she said out loud. Cindy, who had gone back to her room for a blanket because she wanted to sleep next to Megan to keep watch over her, was appalled by what she heard. She felt like she was seeing Liana for the first time, mortified by her character.

"What is wrong with you?" Cindy threw a slap at Liana's face leaving a bright red handprint. "I never knew you have s

  • THE ABANDONED WIFE   A DESPERATE PLEA AND A GLIMMER OF HOPE

The city’s relentless pulse did little to soothe Dante's escalating panic. Megan was gone. His frantic search across campus had yielded nothing but an echoing silence where her vibrant presence once had been. The thought of never seeing her again, the unspoken words and the chance to mend what was broken, gnawed at him. With a desperate hope flickering within him, he made his way to the campus dean’s office. The dean, a man known for his strict adherence to university protocol, listened patiently as Dante, trying to keep his voice steady, explained Megan's abrupt departure. "I need to see a copy of Megan's leave of absence pass," Dante requested, his voice laced with urgency. He knew the university had a stringent policy: for security purposes, any student taking leave had to file a pass detailing their reasons and, crucially, their temporary address. The dean, however, remained unmoved. "Dante," he began, his tone firm but not unkind, "student confidentiality is paramount. I cann

  • THE ABANDONED WIFE   HER FAMILY IS TOO POWERFUL

The tranquil hum of the countryside, a stark contrast to the city's ceaseless thrum, did little to quell the shock that rippled through Megan's parents as their daughter, whom they had sent off to the bustling city campus with such high hopes, returned home bruised and withdrawn. The sight of their vibrant child, diminished and fragile, ignited a furious desire to sue the university, to demand accountability for the harm inflicted upon her. However, Queen, with her calm demeanor and steady voice, carefully filled them in on the harrowing events. She recounted the attack, the text on Megan's phone that lured her out of her hostel room which is now missing from her phone and suspicion that Dante might be the reason why Megan was attacked. While the details were horrific, Queen assured them that the police were actively working on the case, a fragile promise that offered a sliver of solace amidst their anger and concern. "Megan is in a relationship?" Megan's Dad asked as he turned to

  • THE ABANDONED WIFE   A TWIST OF FATE AND A DIGITAL GHOST

The air in Lizbeth’s opulent apartment was thick with a palpable tension as she confronted the assailant. "Here," she hissed, her voice barely above a whisper, pushing a slim, expensive briefcase across the polished mahogany table. "Two and a half million. It’s all I could get my hands on such short notice." Her eyes, usually so calculating, darted nervously between him and the door, a flicker of genuine fear beneath her composed exterior. She had sent Wendy to the store earlier before calling the assailant to her apartment. The assailant's gaze was cold, unwavering, as he meticulously counted the neat stacks of cash. A sneer twisted his lips. "This isn't what we agreed, Lizbeth," he growled, the threat in his voice unmistakable. "I want the full five million, and I want it now. Otherwise, I will go to the police. I surrender myself and tell them everything." He leaned forward, his eyes burning into hers, emphasizing the word "everything" with a chilling finality. Lizbet

  • THE ABANDONED WIFE   UNWITTING PAWNS

As the heavy silence stretched between them, Dante's friends looked at each other, then back at him, their faces a mix of hurt and bewilderment."Dante, listen to yourself," Kevin pleaded, his voice softer now, tinged with genuine distress. "We would never do anything to hurt Megan, or you. Why would we? We just wanted you to have some fun, to get your mind off things. You've been so focused on your studies and Megan… we thought you needed a break."Ben nodded, his gaze meeting Dante’s directly now, a flicker of something akin to fear in his eyes. "He's right, man. We were just trying to be good friends. If someone used that party, used us... That's messed up, but we had nothing to do with it. We swear."Their earnestness, the genuine shock in their eyes, chipped away slightly at Dante's hardened resolve. He wanted to believe them. He needed to believe them. But the logical part of his brain, the one now working overtime to piece together the fragments of this nightmare, wouldn't l

  • THE ABANDONED WIFE   UNMASKING THE VIPER

The revelation of the anonymous message had ignited a fire in Queen. She knew, with a chilling certainty, that this wasn't just about Megan's recovery anymore; it was about unmasking the viper in their midst. The police investigation, which had seemed to stagnate, suddenly gained traction. A passing taxi, whose driver was initially dismissed due to his distance from the gate, had a dashboard camera. The footage, though grainy, offered a crucial detail: a fleeting image of a figure running away from the scene. The police technicians worked tirelessly, enhancing the frames, and finally, a face began to materialize. It was a young man, unknown to Queen, Dante, or Megan, his features contorted in a desperate sprint. The manhunt was officially on, a silent alarm echoing through the campus and beyond.Miles away from the hospital, in the luxurious confines of her apartment, Lizbeth's phone vibrated ominously. Her heart hammered against her ribs as she saw the unfamiliar number. Hesitantl

  • THE ABANDONED WIFE   THE UNKNOWN ASSAILANT

As the first rays of dawn filtered through the blinds of the hospital waiting room, casting long, pale shadows, the weight of the night’s events pressed down on Queen and Dante. The initial shock had begun to give way to a gnawing anxiety, a desperate yearning for any news about Megan. Wendy sat quietly beside Dante, her presence a silent question mark in the tense atmosphere. The police officer returned with a weary look on his face. “We’ve reviewed the CCTV footage from the campus gate,” he began, his voice low and serious. “It’s… not very clear. The area was dimly lit, and the crucial moment was obscured by the branches of the acacia tree.” Queen’s heart sank. That one piece of evidence, the potential key to unlocking the mystery, was shrouded in darkness. “However,” the police officer continued, his gaze meeting Queen’s, “we did see a figure running away from the scene shortly after the estimated time of the attack. We will continue working on it". A chill ran down Queen’s s
