Chapter One.

** FLASHES **

"Happy Birthday!!" The voices yelled as soon as the door opened, he was at first startled but then he soon relaxes, he looked around the living room, everywhere and everything was decorated, he smiled.

"Tell me you two knew about this?" He said asking with a raised eyebrow, looking at his two best friends who stood behind him, they both shrugged, he shook his head, and they laughed and hugged him.

"Happy Birthday Kaiden," They both said, he smiled widely at them.

"Thanks," Kaiden said.

"Go enjoy your party" One of his best friends whose hair was shoulder-length, said, Kaiden nodded and left them.

"Happy Birthday Kaiden"

"Wishing you the good things of life"

"You shall succeed on all parts and be greater than your parents"

"You shall not know sorrow"

They kept wishing him, he greeted those he could with a smile, thanking them.

He walked towards a group of women who were talking, the other women on seeing him, smiled greatly and tapped the woman who was in front of them, having her back towards Kaiden.

She turned back "Happy Birthday Son," She said as she pulled him into a hug, he wrapped his hands around his mother.

"At first when you and father sent me to check on our borders, I wasn't happy, I thought you both had forgotten an important day in my life, I wasn't happy but seeing all this I am happy," He said, disengaging from his mother who was dressed beautifully as the Luna she is.

"Guess our surprise was a surprise," She said as she patted her son's cheeks, he nodded.

"Thanks, Mom, I love you," He said as he kissed her on her cheek.

Someone cleared his throat "Mister, Birthday boy, that's my wife" The masculine voice said, both mother and son had a big smile on their faces as they turned to acknowledge Alpha Darius, the leader of the Glove Crescent Park, the shining lights in the room added to the glow of the brown-skinned Alpha.

The mother to Kaiden, wife to Darius, Lea, smiled as she stared at her husband and back at her son, Kaiden had taken all of his father's traits, from the brown complexion to the dreadlocks, Kaiden's dreads were longer than that of his father and many more, she smiled.

He stood in front of them with his Beta by his side "Go on" Darius said to his Beta who nodded and left after wishing the Alpha's son a very happy birthday.

"I told you to stop acting as if she is your girlfriend, she is my wife," He said with a smile on his lips as he held his wife by her waist, Kaiden rolled his eyes.

"Well father, she is my mom and first girlfriend," Kaiden said, taking his mom's hand and caressing them, obviously pulling his father's legs.

"Well…" The Alpha said as he took his wife's face in his hands and placed his lips on hers, kissing her deeply, he bite her lower lip which got a moan from his wife, Lea.

Kaiden's eyes widened.

"Jeez! Father!" Kaiden exclaimed, looking around to be sure no one was watching, he shook his head "Father! Fine, understood, she is your wife" He said staring at his parents whose lips are still locked together.

They slowly disengaged.

"You both are so unbelievable!" Kaiden exclaimed, and both parents laughed.

"It's time to blow out the candles" His mother, Lea, the Luna told her son who nodded, the family moved to where a very huge cake was placed, and he smiled, waving a smile to everyone in the room.

He blew out the candles after making a wish.

They all cheered.

Kaiden is seated on his bed, a book in his hands, his gaze intensively on the book.

The door opened gently, his sensitive hearing caught the gentle and quiet sounds of the door, he raised his head and shouted happily on seeing the intruder "Dad!!!" he jumped out of his bed and hugged his father "How was the battle? Hope you didn't get injured?" He asked checking his father over and over.

His father chuckled as both of them sat down on the bed.

Alpha Darius smiled "Honey, I am good, we are all fine, we won against our opponent"

Kaiden sighed sadly.

"Son, What is it?" His father asked, "Are you not happy we won?"

Kaiden looked away from his father "Of course I am happy you won Dad, but I'm sad for our enemies, most of the innocent fighters would get hurt, some got killed, leaving their mates and children miserable"

Darius smiled …. Ever since his son could identify his left from his right, he had always cared for people and love to see them happy … He was sure that his son would make a good Alpha after him.

"Hmmm…" His father hummed "So what will you do when you are Alpha?" He asked, Kaiden, looked at his father "Yes, tell me"

"That's still a very long time away, I'm just Fifteen" Kaiden replied, his father smiled, and he patted his son's back.

"I want to hear what you will do when you are faced with this type of situation when you become the Alpha" Alpha Darius said after a few minutes of silence.

"I would go for negotiation, I and the opposite part we have to come to a compromise" Kaiden stated, his father nodded.

"What if the opposite party is insisting on war?" His father asked, his son stayed quiet for a while.

"Well .." Kaiden said and paused "I will make them see the reasons and benefits of not having to go to war but if and they insist, I would pray to the goddess and go to the battlefield and I am sure I and the warriors will conquer," He said with a nod.

Darius nodded "That's my son"

Kaiden smiled.

"I want a peaceful and happy community where the subjects have nothing to worry about, where even the least person would feel secure, happy, and respected," Kaiden said, looking at his father.

"And you will achieve that, I trust you, son," His father said before pulling his son into a hug.

A Twenty Four years old Kaiden stood with one of his hands placed on the other behind him, his dreadlocks dangling above his folded hands as he moved his head from one side to the other examining the beauty of his kingdom.

"Beautiful right?" A familiar voice said beside him, he turned to see his aged mother, greyish hair has won over the black hair on her head.

She smiled, a sad but beautiful smile… He knows she misses her husband so much.

Although it has been two years since his father died but he could see that his mother still misses his father, he had heard talks about how miserable a wolf would be if he or she loses his mate and he could see that in his Mother...

He took his mother's hands and pulled her in a hug.

"I know you miss father so much," He said, he smiled remembering that his father died a strong and courageous man, a man who was on his duty of protecting the kingdom, his father, Alpha Darius had died in a battle which they won though.

Lea, his mother sighed "Yes I do miss you father but…" She said and paused, they disengaged but she held her son's hands, looking up at him, making her raise her head, cause he was much taller than she is "You haven't been the Kaiden I know, the jovial, the lively son I gave birth to" She said sadly.

Kaiden sighed.

If he said he doesn't know what his mother was talking about then he would be a liar, ever since he had the crown on his head, ever since the Alpha title was passed down to him, these feelings…. He couldn't quite explain it but it was like a void entered his life, a miserable longing that keeps him howling and sad.

"Kaiden?!" His mother said a bit loud as she tapped her son back from the deep thoughts he had traveled into within minutes "Are you Okay? Is there anything you aren't telling your mother?" She asked staring at the son's golden orbs which seems to compliment his ebony skin.

He forced a smile "I am okay, Mother, you worry a lot" He said caressing his mother's hair "You should go and take your rest"

Lea frowned "Kaiden, you don't look happy, you look so sad as if something is bothering you," She said.

He sighed as he dropped one of his hands while the other one stopped on his mother's cheek "Mother, I'm good"

She sighed as she maintained the stare that settled deep into her son's golden orbs

"You could tell me anything you know, your friends and even your nanny noticed there is something wrong, you could tell me," She said, he smiled faintly as he took his hands from hers and patted her cheek.

"I'm good," He said.

"But-"

He kissed her forehead and excused himself, his mother sighed.

Ever since her son ascended the throne, something hasn't been right with him and she wonders what?.

** Present **.

..

The figure under the water seems to have been stirred cause of the loud shouts and yells emanating from just outside the pool room.

The figure slowly came out of the water, his dreadlocks coming to the surface first, he wiped his face and came out fully from the pool, chest bare, with brown shorts, he went to where his towel was and wrapped it around his waist, it stopped just above his knees.

The noise increased, he went in long strides to the door, opened it, and saw two young girls fighting, almost pulling their hair out of their scalp.

He shook his head, they were so absorbed in the fight that they didn't notice him, he sighed quietly, just looking at the girls, he was sure they were older teens or should be in their twenties.

He rested against the door frame, and folded his hands, watching them.

"What the hell is going on here?!" An angry yell made the teens stop the fight, an older woman stood before them with a deep frown on her face "What is wrong with both of you?" She asked looking from one girl to another.

They both bowed their head.

"She started it, she called me a disgusting Omega," One of the girls, the one with the short hair said, her voice shaky, seems she had been silently crying alongside fighting "I wasn't the one that made myself into an Omega" She added.

The older woman's hard gaze rested on the other girl whose hair was purple and shoulder length.

"I wasn't wrong to call you a disgusting Omega 'cause you are disgusting and slow and low," The purple-haired girl said with a hiss.

"How–"

"You know the rules and you don't need to be reminded" His voice rang out with authority and masculinity.

The three turned their heads to the direction where the voice came from, and they were met with their ebony-skinned Alpha, for a while, the quarreling girls got lost in staring at him, they didn't realize themselves until the older woman gave each a rough tap.

They both bowed the more and slowly raised their heads

"What are the rules??" He asked, nudging at the purple-haired girl "I want to be sure you remember"

She stared at the Alpha of Glove Crescent Park, the leader of the park she belongs, she swallowed hard as his blank emotionless face stared at her, and she started "Do not discriminate, no matter the color of your skin or the hierarchy ladder you are, everyone should be respected" She said.

"So??" He asked.

She went on her knees in front of the girl she had been quarreling with "I'm sorry" She said, the other girl nodded.

"Both of you! Out of my sight!" The older woman yelled at them, they scurried off.

The woman's gaze settled on the Alpha, and she moved closer to him, his face was motionless and lack every cheerfulness it once had.

"My lord, I hope you were not greatly disturbed by those two," She said with a bow.

He sighed "I was actually but it's fine," He said, she stared at him

"Do you want anything?" She asked.

"No I don't" He replied as he stood straight and wanted to walk away from where he was standing, she held his wrist.

"My lord, you should be happy today," She said smiling, he looked at her with no smile on his face, her smile slowly vanished, and she released his wrist "Today is your birthday, my lord" She mumbled audibly.

He signed.

"We should have a big celebration," She said.

Kaiden shook his head.

"Madam Dera, you know how I have always celebrated my birthday since I was enthroned, we keep it that way"

"But my lord–"

"We keep it that way," He said, his tone hard, she nodded slowly, and she stared at him as he walked away with his dreadlocks dangling and touching his waist.

She sighed.

Ever since the Alpha Kaiden got enthroned, the whole inhabitants of the kingdom wondered where their loving, cheerful, and always happy Kaiden went.

Since he was, after his enthronement, he had always been sad, hardly will he even smile or laugh.

"What is going on?" Madam Dera asked herself, she had been his nanny since he was born and he had grown before her … This was not the Kaiden she knows.

Or did he miss his parents?…. She wondered… "No, that can't be" She debunked the thoughts immediately as they came.

It has been years since both parents died.

"Madam Dera!" A loud voice jolted her from her thoughts, she looked up to see Garvin, popularly called Garry "Been trying to get your attention since" He said with a frown.

Garvin held the position of the Beta, she bowed.

"I was just lost in thoughts," She said, he nodded.

"Where is Alpha Kaiden?" He asked, he looked over at the pool "He is supposed to be having his bath?"

"He left already" She answered, and he nodded "I will leave now when you are free please come to the kitchen to get your package and that of the warriors," She said with a sigh.

Garry frowned "What do you mean?"

"The Alpha won't be celebrating his big Thirty just as we had thought," She said.

Garry could not believe what he was hearing, The Alpha before he got enthroned, celebrates his birthdays in big ways and when he was clocking a rough number he would make the birthday memorable for all the inhabitants.

What could be wrong with the Alpha for all these years?... He thought.

"I will leave now," She said, interrupting the thought of the Beta.

He nodded, she bowed and left.

It has been eight years that their Alpha's jovial, cheerful and happy spirit has been replaced with a sad and miserable look…. Garry thought and walked out of the room.
