The tunnels of Paris were too quiet, My boots struck the stone floor, each step echoing against walls slick with blood, Torches flickered weakly, their flames struggling against the damp air, my wolf paced inside me, restless, snarling at shadows that seemed to breathe.

We had survived the ambush, but survival was not victory, my men limped behind me, blades dripping, eyes hollow, Rylan walked at my side, his jaw tight, his gaze scanning every corner.
