The two figures snarled and attacked again, one trying to fly at Sharon Spark's face, the other two hitting her legs. She spun around, barely staying on her feet. They were moving too fast to follow.

Sharon wrapped one around the neck as he tried to crawl past her, driving him to the ground. He snarled, and rolled clear of her before she could pin him. The others had drawn in, and moved slowly in a circle around them, waiting for the first opening to strike. Sharon waited, coiled, letting them make the first move. She was big, but stupid enough to expend energy in a wild attack. They were trying to distract her, but why?

Then there was no time to consider. They attacked her like a ballet, moving quickly and hard, and she felt her workshop arm grow numb beneath the impact of a blow that would have felled most men. She did not feel pain, only anger.

If they wanted to fight an Alpha shifter, she was going to provide it for them. Sharon could take care of herself if it ever came to that,
