LOGINDamian Blackwood is the infamous Alpha of the Shadow Moon Pack and is known for his ruthlessness. He was merciless in every story ever told and a huge predator among wolves. The thought of having someone like him as a mate was terrifying and infuriating.
The mate bond was undeniable because it tugged hard at my soul, leaving no room for me to breathe, but I would never be his. I’d rather die than let him have me, and he was not letting me make any of those decisions.
He had forcefully taken me along as he left the human town. I was tied hard and placed next to him in his chariot as we moved out of the town that had shielded me for four years. How he found me, I knew not, but I had never dreamt of meeting him this way.
All I wanted was to hate him peacefully till my last breath because I knew getting revenge was useless. He was way more powerful than I could ever be, so there was little to nothing I could do to avenge my family.
As the rough road threw us closer to each other, he refused to move back when the chariot became balanced.
I clenched my fists. “Stay away from me.”
“You’re trembling,” he observed, his voice deceptively soft but filled with his toughness. “Your wolf knows what we are. Why do you fight it?”
“Because I don’t want you.” I spat out the words like venom; my chest was furiously heaving. “I will never belong to you.”
His jaw tightened, but instead of anger, he only smiled. It was as if he had already anticipated my defiance.
“Want has nothing to do with it, little rogue,” he murmured, stepping closer. “You are mine.”
The words were final and absolute.
All my insides exploded with fury. My body was consumed by anger, and before I could think, I lunged. My fists swung, aiming for his face, his throat, anything to kill him in a swipe, to make him regret thinking he could claim me like some possession.
But he was extremely fast like he had expected it. He caught my wrist effortlessly; his grip was firm but not painful. I twisted, trying to break free, but he used my momentum against me, flipping me in one swift move. I gasped as my back hit the edge of the chariot; a huge amount of air escaped from my lungs as I gasped. Damian loomed over me, pinning me beneath his weight without even breaking a sweat.
“Are you done?” His voice was calm, too calm, which only made my anger burn hotter.
I protested, kicking out, snarling, but he didn’t budge. His strength was overwhelming, like an immovable force against my defiance.
His scent surrounded me. It was of dark pine, fire, something raw and untamed. It made my head spin and made my wolf whimper in submission immediately. But I gritted my teeth, fighting against the traitorous pull of the bond.
“I hate you,” I hissed, glaring up at him.
For a split second, his expression went blank. Then, his lips curled into the faintest smirk.
“Good,” he murmured, his breath roaming over my skin. “Hatred means you feel something.”
I sucked in a sharp breath; my pulse was hammering against my ribs. I had expected rage and cruelty. But this… this unnerved me more.
“You may fight, little rogue,” he continued, his voice carrying a dark promise. “You may hate me all you like. But it won’t change what we are.”
I struggled again, my chest rising and falling rapidly, but his grip remained firm. “I will never accept this.”
“You don’t have to.” His eyes burned with intensity. “But you will.”
I bared my teeth at him, my wolf surging forward in defiance. “I’d rather die.”
“You won’t.” His voice was quieter now, more dangerous. “Because I won’t let you.”
A low growl rumbled in his chest, echoing through me. My body betrayed me, heat pooling in my stomach at the dominance in his tone. I cursed myself, cursed this bond, and cursed the gods for playing such a cruel joke.
With a deep breath, Damian finally released me, rising with effortless grace. I scrambled up; my body was tensed, and I tried to adjust my position as the horses raced faster. But he didn’t move to grab me again.
Instead, he merely watched with his golden eyes. “Run if you want,” he said, his tone was calm. “But know this, Aria.”
I flinched at the way he said my name. Like it belonged to him already.
“I will find you,” he continued, “You are mine. And no matter where you go, no matter how hard you fight…” He put a foot forward, grabbing my shoulder without breaking the stare as he held me from falling off the chariot as the horse ran into a pothole. “I will always come for you.”
A shiver ran down my spine, but I refused to let him see my fear. Damian Blackwood had made his decision, but so had I.
Selene did not waste a second after Aria left her room. The door had barely closed when the calm look on her face slowly disappeared. She remained standing in the same spot for a while, but her mind was already moving quickly. There was no fear in her, no panic, just a confirmation and realization that things had gone further than she expected.Aria has changed everything, and she’s not backing down. The way she came to challenge her made it obvious that she wanted a fight.Selene had always known the girl was not ordinary, but she did not expect her to grow this fast or this strong. The blessing from the Moon Goddess had given her more than status. It had given her power that could no longer be ignored or controlled from a distance. And Damien…she has lost her hold on him completely. Something she worked for all her life.Selene’s lips pressed together as she thought about him. She had spent years shaping him, guiding him, making sure he never stepped out of line. Every choice, react
Aria woke up with a sharp breath, her body jerking against the sheets. For a moment, she did not know where she was.The darkness in the room felt thicker than usual. The air was filled with tension, almost like something had been there watching her the whole time. Her heart pounded as she pushed herself up, her fingers gripping the edge of the bed. The memory of the cold touch on her leg came rushing back, sending a shiver through her entire body.“What was that…?” she whispered into the silence.Everywhere fell silent at first, with no answer, but after a soft voice spoke, she remembered that she wasn’t alone. You felt it too, her wolf’s voice echoed softly in her mind, causing a slight stir.Aria closed her eyes briefly, grounding herself. “Yes.”It wasn’t just fear or her own imagination. It was real, and she felt it.It carried the same scent, her wolf continued, low and certain. The same dark magic from Selene.Aria’s jaw tightened as she heard the name ‘Selene.’ Everything poin
Aria closed her eyes at the drawing of Damien’s birth star. It was one of a kind, the revelation that he wasn’t an ordinary child. She had studied a bit of astronomy while she was in the human world. What she couldn’t understand was why everything was being hidden. However, she knew Selene was the one behind the foul play.A regular wolf would have just seen another word in the book and thought it was another book. She could open the real world because of her power. This was how Selene had successfully kept the history of her life and her son in a book and left it in the archive. She probably thought no one would find it or decode it as long as she’s alive. She couldn’t care less about whatever history says when she’s gone after all.On the night of Damien’s birth, it was recorded that the ground trembled hard and the moon was the brightest ever seen. All the priestesses couldn’t keep up with their surging energy and ran out of their temples. They all knelt and bowed to the ground til
To Aria, evil could never stay silent. There is always a loud announcement around it. All her imagination was that it would roar, strike, and make everyone involved bleed so they could all see it and flee. She was wrong this time. Not all evil announces itself. Some stay silent for years and centuries, hurting people silently to the point they don’t even know where the pain is coming from. That is what real evil is.In the mansion, evil had existed for several decades. It had dignity and honor because it was wrapped in a duty that commanded respect. This evil also had a smile on while caring for everyone like family. All these were clear to her that very night. She decided to find some books in the library because she couldn’t sleep for a reason she couldn’t point to. She was extremely restless to the point that she just had to stand up and go out for some fresh air.It was at that point that she realized she had been too far from her first world. She used to keep books and read them
The mansion had never been this quiet in years. It had always been filled with shouts, yells, updates, and awkward tension over several news items and developments. However, this morning’s silence wasn’t that of fear or uneasiness. It wasn’t out of tension or fear; this was soft and peaceful. Aria moved slowly through Damien’s chambers, her fingers lightly brushing the edge of the table as she walked. The curtains were half open, letting in warm morning light that painted everything in gold.Behind her, Damien watched her slow parade. He had been watching for a while now before he finally decided to speak up.“You’re doing it again,” he said lazily. His sleep robe parting from his chest, showing the rock-hard abs peeking behind itAria didn’t turn. “Doing what?”“Pretending you’re not watching me while you hover like a worried nurse.”That made her pause. She turned slowly, lifting her chin. “I am not hovering.”Damien raised a brow. “You’ve adjusted my blanket five times in ten min
That night, after the hall emptied and the music faded, they found themselves alone on the balcony overlooking the forest, both bathed in the glory of the moonlight.“You were magnificent today,” Damien said quietly.Aria laughed softly. “I just stood there.”“You changed how they see the world,” he replied. “That’s not ‘just standing.’”She turned to him, serious now. “I feel… different. Like I can hear things I shouldn’t and feel things deeper.”He nodded. “Power always comes with weight.”Her gaze lingered on his lips, then lifted back to his eyes. “And the bond?” she asked. His breath hitched. “It’s much stronger.”“So is my fear.”He stepped closer. “Of what?”“Of losing myself,” she admitted. “Of becoming something I don’t recognize.”Damien reached out, then stopped. He didn’t want to just come at her like that. Instead, he wanted to give her the freedom, giving her the choice.“You don’t lose yourself,” he said softly. “You become more you. And I swear to you, Aria, I will not
