CHAPTER FIVE
Harriet’s POV:
I’ve never liked Hattie. I’ve heard so many stories about how she was a snobby and haughty girl, and she always lived up to those adjectives whenever I saw her on a few occasions we coincidentally both attended.
I didn’t know she had a boyfriend, let alone know that it was a future Alpha. The future Alpha who told his son I was his mother, everything is so confusing.
I told Kyla that I would be back and she should wait for me here. After that, I took Nelson out of the hall and went to search for his father and Hattie. After the dance was over, I saw them leave the hall together and it made me a bit angry that Tyler had turned me into a babysitter so he could go have fun with some girl not even minding about his son who he kept with a total stranger he assumed to be his mother.
I had memorized Tyler’s scent from when we were speaking and it was very easy to do that because of the distinct scents Alphas usually have. I was able to trace him to the garden behind the banquet hall.
I stood at the entrance as I watched him and Hattie speak. They were a bit far but I could hear what they were saying clearly due to my advanced hearing ability.
“Please Tyler, just agree to date me already. I’ve been waiting for too long and you keep turning me off. Please Tyler.” I heard her beg Tyler. Really? So what those girls were saying was true? A beautiful and classy girl like Hattie was actually begging a man to date her? Hell, she could have ninety men at her doorstep if she wanted, so why did she bother with this one?
“I love you so much Tyler, more than any girl can ever love you and you know that.” She continued to profess
I noted Tyler’s face was emotionless and unyielding, even though a pretty girl like Hattie was confessing love to him and had his hand in hers. But for the fact that he was still here with her, allowing her to hold his hands and tell him these words and even agreed to dance with her, that meant he was somewhat interested in her. No wonder Nelson feared greatly about the possibility of her becoming his step mother.
“Let’s go.” I said to Nelson and nodded. We walked further into the garden and then Tyler and Hattie heard our footsteps and noticed our presence.
“Oh, I’m so sorry for leaving Nelson with you and bothering you. Please forgive me.” Tyler begged and I noted that Hattie had own a bitter scowl, clutching Tyler’s hand tightly in my presence.
“There’s no problem baby, after all I am his mother and I have no problem taking care of my baby boy.” I replied and both Tyler and Hattie’s eyes widened at that statement, exactly the reaction I was looking for.
I glanced at Nelson, he had on a proud smile. I was just playing along so that I could make Hattie jealous and then she would leave Tyler alone, just for little Nelson’s sake.
“What did you just say?” Hattie asked me, unable to believe her ears.
“Oh? You haven’t heard of it? I am Tyler’s fiancée and he is the father of my child, Nelson. We are getting married soon.” I added and Hattie’s eyes nearly popped out of its sockets.
She gasped, “Tyler? Is this true? Is she really the mother of this child?”
“Yes.” Tyler simply said and Hattie wanted to run insane.
“What? Oh my God Tyler! I can’t believe you. You knew this all these while and you refused to tell me?” She questioned Tyler with a tone that spoke both hurt and anger then she burst into tears.
“Hattie, I can explain.” Tyler tried to pacify her and I rolled my eyes, why is he still trying to explain things to her? He’s obviously not interested in her so why bother.
“Just leave me alone.” Hattie said amidst her tears and ran away from the garden crying. Nelson and I gave each other a knowing look, I think I like this boy.
However, I thought Tyler would be angry at me for putting up this act and making Hattie cry. But the moment Hattie ran away, Tyler faced me with a happy smile. Like he was thankful I drove her away.
And then he did it again, he wrapped his arms around me and hugged me. “Thank you, Ivory.” He whispered into my ear and my happiness dropped. God, he mistook me for his dead ex–wife again. I can’t continue to deal with this behavior of his any longer.
I disengaged from the hug and faced him with an annoyed scowl, “Stop calling me Ivory! I’m not your dead wife.” It was getting too much.
“But you are Ivory, you just don’t recognize it yet.” He said to me and I rolled my eyes. There he goes again. I said nothing in response and just knew I needed to go away from him. I turned around and walked out of the garden. I went back into the banquet hall, and left the party with Kyla.
I really hope I don’t see him again.

The next morning, I was done getting dressed for my early–morning stroll to the river bank. I enjoyed the scenery and it was so calm and soothing for me, I usually went there to collect my thoughts and read without any disturbance.
“My princess, are you sure you want to go alone?” Kyla asked for the umpteenth time when I nodded in affirmation.
“Yes, Kyla. I will be safe, don’t worry.” I assured her.
“Okay My Princess. Please be well.” Kyla said to me and I smiled at her. Turning around and signaling at the gatekeeper to open up the privacy gates so I could leave.
However, we were all shocked to see the unexpected presence of Tyler and his son Nelson in front of our pack house!
Chapter SixTyler's PovThe shocked look on Ivory's face reminded of when I'd always surprise her, she loved surprises and wore this look everytime she was surprised, she gulped in nervously as she saw Nelson and I and muttered some incorrigible words for some seconds, Nelson looked at me and I nodded to him in response.Nelson left my side and clung to her, she was immediately calm when he hugged her legs and her gaze softened as she looked down at him, her eyes met with mine and I simply shrugged, Nelson's eyes were closed as he still clung unto her, he seemed to be sniffing in her scent, I couldn't blame the poor thing, her scent was intoxicating."You? What are you both doing here?" She managed to ask.I cleared my throat."We're here to see you, can't you tell?" I replied."Me? You're here to see me?" She repeated my question."Isn't that what I just said?" I asked. She sighed."Can we please talk about this somewhere else?" She pleaded as her eyes roamed around.I could see she
Chapter sevenHarriet’s PovI suddenly began to feel happy for no reason, my fears had disappeared and I was busy exchanging words with the man in front of me, I had initially feared that his presence was as a result of my previous actions.Seeing him argue with me like we were some kind of close friends made me feel alive and excited at the same time. It was good my parents weren’t awake yet, it gave me the opportunity to get rid of him as soon as possible.“Mommy…” The little boy cried.I sighed in frustration, the boy still clung to me and wouldn’t stop crying.“I’m not your mommy, stop causing a scene out here for me, you should go to your father!” I sternly said. The boy rubbed his now swollen eyes with the back of his palm and stared at me, his little eyeballs reminded me of mine, it was the exact replica.“Mommy please don’t chase me away.” He begged. His words melted my lady heart and for a split second; I was tempted to just reach out and carry him in my arms, he was adorable
Chapter EightHattie's PovI screamed at the top of my lungs at the maid who knocked on my door."Get the hell out of here, nobody should dare disturb me!" I yelled."But my lady, you've been locked up in there since last night, I'm scared something bad might happen to you." The maid said worriedly."If you dare knock on my door one more time I swear I'll rip your throat out!" I warned.I could feel her hesitation and then heard her retreating footsteps, I broke another expensive jar and growled in frustration, I had carefully planned it all out, Tyler was already falling for me, he was in fact in love with me.I am his childhood and best friend, I knew him better than anyone else would or could, yesterday was the perfect opportunity to seal our relationship and define it, though he's rumored to be heartless and strict; years of being with him made me understand that he's caring and loving, I fell in love with him from the first day I set my eyes on him and I wanted him for myself eve
Chapter NineTyler's PovI was more than pleased to set my eyes on Ivory again, it was a dream came true for me, for five years I had writhed in pain and held on to a glimmer of hope that someday we'd be reunited again, there were times I had thought of given up and even gave up but Nelson kept me going.Ivory's appearance made me feel alive once more, how she helped Nelson and also put Hattie in her place makes me happy, she openly declared to Hattie that I belonged to her and I found it enchanting, the problem was her not wanting to be called Ivory, she was no doubt Ivory but prefers being called another name.It was strange but I cared less, she was with me and that was all that mattered, the kiss we shared at the dance, it was magical and a confirmation that she was indeed Ivory, she tried to hide her jealousy when I danced with another woman but she stepped in at the last moment and called me hers.Nelson has been gushing over her ever since, poor boy; he grew up without his moth
Chapter TenHarriet's PovNelson looked at me pitifully, like he would burst into tears any moment, I groaned loudly, was he trying to coax me into staying home the entire day? Kayla seemed to understand my dilemma as she laughed and bent over, she ruffled his hair and gave him a bright smile."Little one, the lady have to go somewhere but she'll be back soon okay? You have to let go of her." She said convincingly.Nelson shook his head in disagreement, it seemed he wasn't having any of it."What's your name?" Kayla asked him."Nelson." He replied."You have a such a beautiful name Nelson, do you want to play with some toys? I have some back in my room, you can play with them there." Kayla said."No, I don't want to go anywhere without my mommy, I will only stay with her." He said decisively.I sighed, his clingy nature was adorable and at the same time tiring, I needed to be at work as soon as possible, I hated being late to anywhere I wanted to go and he was wasting a considerably l
Chapter ElevenTyler's PovIt's been two hours already and the presentation was still ongoing, we needed more sponsors to finance the company and my father counted on me to make it happen, I was a bit worried about Nelson but the thought of Ivory made me relax, the investors were obviously impressed with the presentation and I was relieved.A security guard suddenly came into the conference room and signalled for Alex to attend to him, the investors were engrossed in the presentation and fortunately for me; didn't notice this, I was irritated by such insolent attitude as I hated being interrupted, Alex reluctantly stood up and attended to him.I smiled to cover up for his brief absence, they seemed to speak in hushed tones, I could have tuned my hearing to their words but it would distract my attention from what I was doing which would be disastrous, I became uncomfortable with their little talk and paused for a moment, during this period of time I had activated the mind link so I wou
Chapter 12Harriet's Pov"I'm glad you're here." Tyler said calmly.I scoffed, I was late for an important meeting all because of his stupid little drama and he was glad I'm here? I don't usually cause trouble or go looking for one but when in being taken advantage of it angers me, he was about to have a piece of my mind."What a reckless father you are! You left your son with a stranger for hours and didn't even care?" I accused him."I'm not reckless, well for one thing I know for sure is that he's absolutely safe with you, there's no cause for alarm." He said nonchalantly.I shook my head in disbelief, this man is obviously out of his mind."How would you know he's safe with me? Might I remind you that I am a very influential person and if I make do with him you'll never have the opportunity to raise a complaint about it, have you thought of that?" I bragged.I wasn't a fan of bragging but he was being arrogant and I needed to put him in his place before it escalates, I have a repu
Chapter ThirteenLilian's PovThe moment I was tipped that Tyler was in the lobby I quickly rushed down there, I desperately needed his attention and I saw him talking to some woman, I ignored her and went on to throw my shots, I loved him immediately I had set my eyes on him months ago and was determined to get him.Though he had countlessly turned me down but whenever I remember the chills I get when he mentions my name then I have no choice than to keep trying, he was surprisingly calm and didn't flinch even as I touched his son, I was happy decided to step up my game when the warning strike came.I watched him ask the strange woman to lunch which she turned down, my eyes darkened but I was relieved, she left and he didn't say a word, I was happy he seemed to be in a good mood."Tyler..." I drawled."Who let you in?" He flatly asked.I laughed softly."I have my ways." I replied. He kept mute for five seconds and then two huge men walked towards us, I inched closer to him and broug
