View MorePainful howls rented the air as the sound of bones breaking and blood sputtering filled every corner of the forest. It was a gruesome sight, yet the sound of a little girl whimpering seemed to pierce through the bloody scene.
“ Momma! Papa!” The little girl cried, walking into the midst of the giant wolves fighting. She was just a pup, not more than six years, yet she braced into the fierce battle. She was eagerly searching for her parents. Her chubby little feet made her look like a rice ball. The cry of the little rice ball made the wolves stop fighting, for a moment. In a flash, the little girl was lifted up while a woman's voice rented the air in agony. “ You beast, let my daughter go!” The woman screamed, changing into her human form. “ Let her go? Why should I, Diane?” the one holding the brave little girl asked. He had a dangerous smirk on his face as he stared at the woman. Even with the goddess clothes on, the woman before him was just too tempting. Her succulent skin and supple breasts were covered with the goddess clothes, revealing only a few parts of her body. Even with that, it couldn't stop the male wolves from growling in lust. “ She is innocent, Drake. This is our battle. It doesn't concern them,” Diane responded, her eyes glued on the little girl. Drake let out a chuckle as he slowly raised his dagger at the dangling rice ball in his hands. “ You are wrong, Diane.” “ You already killed my mate!” “ Yes and I am going to wipe out his lineage. The one holding the brave little girl had a sparkle in his eyes as he raised his dagger up, ready to pierce the little rice ball. But before he could do anything, a wolf lunged at him, making Drake lose his balance. He didn't need to look up before tearing the wolf into bloody shreds. “ Gina!” Diane cried out, the pain of losing yet another person. Gina was not just her handmaid, she was her confidant too. However, she wasn't going to waste Gina's sacrifice. Diane made a leap toward the little rice ball, before she landed on the ground. A piercing pain rented her heart as the sputtering blood from Gina's decorated her pale skin. Diane quickly ran to carry the little girl who was almost landing on the ground. But amidst all the chaos, something strange happened. “ Arrrrrrggg!” A piercing growl filled the air and all the fighting wolves were at a standstill. Like a flash, blood splattered on the ground. A howling Drake holding his burning cheek as he stared dagger at the little rice ball. She just struck him with something like a claw. How possible was that? She was just a damn pup! Realisation dawned on him as he forgo his pains, stretching his hands to hold the little rice ball. Maybe she was the one he needed. Seeing the blood on the face of their leader, the wolves made a dash towards the little rice ball. Certain they were going to crush her like an ant. “ Stop!” The eager voice of Drake stopped the howling wolves, an inch away from the little rice ball. Then he faced the hateful face of Diane. “ What is this child?” But instead of a response from Diane, she did something stunning. The distraction on Drake's face was all that Diane needed for an outlet, an outlet to save her daughter. She made a dive towards the little rice ball, grabbing her tightly as she made a dash towards the thick forbidden forest. As soon as she got away from the wolves, she changed into her wolf form and leapt out of the forest. It was faster to escape in her wolf form. “ Hold me tight, Alia,” Diane told her daughter. Thankfully, she had trained her on the safest method of staying on a wolf back. She was going to make sure her daughter was safe from that monster. She needed a new identity and a safe pack, away from Draco. “ Momma, who was that man?” The little rice ball, Alia, asked. “ He is a monster, Alia. You need to stay away whenever you see him…” Diane told her. She just wanted her to be safe. Diane stared at Alia, her mind filled with different thoughts. In order to keep Alia safe, she needed to do something quickly. “ Close your eyes, Alia-” Diane breathed out, tears flowing freely down her cheek. She quickly wiped it off, to avoid Alia questions. Diane ran through the bushes, until she got to a cave. It reeked of darkness and evil within. She laid Alia, gently on the floor as her eyes continued to dart around. The whistling sound of the ancient trees twisting towards the sky was supposed to be a beautiful sight to behold. Yet, Diane felt a tight knot in her heart as she brought out a dagger. Diane took one last look at the rice ball. Then shutting her eyes tightly, she brought out a dagger. The rice ball sat cross-legged on the cave floor, her eyes closed as if in slumber. Her long and full hair perfectly made a pillow-like-heap on the ground. Diane’s hands hovered above the child's head, her fingers weaving dreadful nothings in the air. A faint yet eerie glow emanated from her fingertips, casting it on the sleeping rice ball. The little girl's chest rose and fell with slow, steady breaths, oblivious to everything. Not until the cave was suddenly filled with an eerie presence. “ You saved her…” A croaky voice sounded from the cave. One look and her aura could soothe as well as kill. Diane settled her fluttering gaze at the woman emerging from a dark spot in the cave. She was a beautiful woman- tall and her slender figure swathed in a flowing black gown. Her raven hair floated amidst the whistling of the wind. Her aura said it all. She was a witch, a powerful sorceress. After what seemed like forever, she let out. “ You shouldn't have done that, Diane.” “ She needs to be saved, Amelia-” Amelia let out a dry chuckle. “ At the risk of the prophecy?” “ Amelia, look at her. How could such a cute child be-” “ You doubt the prophecy…” “ Honestly, yes. She is my daughter, Amelia. Not that which you all assume-” Diane couldn't finish her words before the croaky sound from Amelia penetrated through the dark silent cave. It was more like a sarcasm laced with threat. Diane stood still as her eyes kept fluttering between the little rice ball and Amelia. Another second and Amelia let out a frustrated grunt. “ I will be dead if the Circle finds out, Diane. Go, before I change my mind,” Amelia breathed out, angered yet relenting as she turned around to leave. Biting her lower lips, Diane dropped to her knees, clutching tightly at her ribs. The sputtering sound of blood decorated the cave as Diane let out a grueling sound. She had been struck by several poisonous arrows. With determination, she strapped Aria to her bleeding back, running towards the only world that would be safe for her. The human world. The only safe haven for them. But what she didn't expect was that she would be ambushed by the rogues sent by that monstrous Alpha. She was pierced once more with several arrows of wolfsbane and she was getting weaker. She managed to withstand the wolfsbane as she tried to find somewhere safe. She was afraid of leaving Alia alone. She needed to find a family. In order to escape from them, she took a detour to one of the packs under Alpha Kingston. That's when she perceived a particular scent from afar. A pure soul. She removed Alia from her back and placed her in a hidden cave, filling it with overgrown shrubs. With a wave of her hand, she placed a magical scent on her, hoping that the soul might find her. Even if she couldn't take her to the human world, the Moonsville Pack was going to protect her. “ Live, Alia. Don't try to find yourself-” She whispered incantations that sent shivers through the forest's ancient heart, sending the little Alia into the bright light. This was for the best.Xander's POV " Are you really going to marry Lucia?" Gerald asked, sighing the umpteenth time.I rocked the office chair, my eyes shut as the images of Elise's face made a slide show every now and then. Gerald was still pacing, unhappy about my decision to go along with the Arc's decision." Yeah. She will make the perfect Luna..." I muttered, letting out a deep chuckle." Don't tell me you lost your sanity after Elise's disappearance!" Gerald let out a stiffled groan. My face lit up as my eyes opened, fixed on Gerald's worried expression. At least, I wasn't the only one who believed Elise was still alive. Tapping lightly on the desk, I asked. " If I don't make them believe I have moved on, how do I find out clues about Elise?" Gerald's wore a confused expression. " What do you mean?"" Something isn't right. Her disappearance. The marriage alliance. Her father. Everything seemed wrong..."Yes, everything looked wrong.Elise had been in my pack for sixteen years, yet not one incid
THREE DAYS BEFORE THE FUNERAL The morning sun was cruel in its brightness, completely at odds with the darkness that had settled over the pack house. Settled over the Alpha of Moonsville Pack. He could feel it, ever since he woke up without Elise by his side. " Let this be a joke, Moon goddess!" He growled, his eyes darting around. His heart beating was so rapid, making the fastest beat ever. His hands shook, violently and with whimper of Skye in his head, Xander was slowly losing it. As if the world could hear his wails, the morning sun was overshadowed by darkness and the rumbling sound of thunder tore through the entire pack. The chamber door flung open as Gerald pushed open the door. His face was filled with alarm, watching his Alpha slowly losing control. " You need to hold yourself, Xander!" Gerald quickly pushed in, trying to stop Xander. Gerald had just come back from meeting that person Xander sent him to meet. As soon as he got to the border, he felt the agonising
Xander's POV I stood there in my black suit, accepting condolences from pack members who had no idea what they were mourning. They thought they were saying goodbye to Elise, but all we'd buried was torn fabric and a bracelet around bones that weren't even hers. Yes, the bracelet wasn't Elise. I could feel it, deep down that all of this was probably planned. I knew it deep in my gut that those remains weren't my mate. But I couldn't say a word about why I was so certain.Elise's wolf was no ordinary wolf. She had powers that could tear apart a dozen rogues without breaking a sweat. The idea that some random attackers could overpower her and leave her mutilated was laughable. But her secret wasn't mine to tell, especially not to the Arc."Alpha Xander." I looked up to see Alpha Thorne approaching, his weathered face set in grim lines. Behind him walked the other members of the Arc: Killian, Marcus, Vera, and Ryan. The high-ranking Alphas who thought they had the right to dictate m
Author's View " I changed my mind..." Those words rolled out of Elise mouth just when the air seemed to froze. The piercing gaze from the dark shadows was enough to drive fear into the heart of anyone close by. But not Elise. The witch stared at the seemingly defiant Elise. The witch had thought everything was going smoothly, until Elise suddenly changed her mind. She secretly clenched her fist tightly, her aura threatening to burst out. But she calmed herself. If she could make Elise agree to her terms, it would be a huge win for her. The witch thought Elise was so in love with that Alpha that she wouldn't think twice. Alas, the little silver wolf was still sane. " There must be a third option" The witch almost cursed, the slithering sound echoing through the dark cave. She fucking thought it was going to be easy. She never guessed Elise would be so stubborn. This wasn't what Drake told her. The witch had to come up with a quick plan before Amelia comes back. The circle co
Xander's POV "Come closer, baby," I mumbled sleepily, reaching across the bed. "Do you want another round?"My hand hit cold sheets.I opened my eyes, blinking in the early morning light streaming through the windows. The bed beside me was empty, the pillow still holding the faint scent of Elise's hair."Elise?" I called out, sitting up. Maybe she was in the bathroom.I got up and checked the bathroom, then the small sitting area by the window. Her clothes from last night were gone too.A cold knot of worry started forming in my stomach. After everything that happened yesterday, after the way she'd clung to me like she was afraid I might disappear, she wouldn't just leave without saying anything.Would she?I threw on some clothes and headed downstairs, taking the steps two at a time. Maybe she'd gone to get breakfast, or to see Amma about her recovery. The kitchen staff looked up when I burst through the doors."Alpha Xander, good morning," the head cook said with a smile. "What ca
Elise's POV "Wait." The word tumbled out of my mouth before I could stop it. "Wait. I changed my mind."The witch's smile vanished instantly. Her eyes flashed with something dark and dangerous, and the temperature in the cave seemed to drop ten degrees."Excuse me?" Her voice was deadly quiet."I said I changed my mind." My voice was shaking, but I forced myself to stand straighter. "I can't make a deal with you. Not without knowing what you want from me."She took a step closer, and I could feel power radiating off her in waves. "You foolish little girl. Do you have any idea what you've just done?""I'm not foolish!" The words came out louder than I intended. "I'm trying to be smart for once in my life!""Smart?" She laughed, but there was no humor in it. "Smart would have been accepting my help when I offered it and trusting someone who actually knows how to deal with monsters like Drake.""Maybe I don't want to become a monster myself!"The words hung in the air between us, and I
