As I walked into the hotel lobby, a bad feeling punched my gut forcing me to retreat. I didn’t want to be here. I didn’t want to meet those people. But before I could make my escape someone grabbed my arm from behind. I spun around and saw who it was. Jeremy Frasier, my ex-boyfriend, and on his arm stood Sarah, the girl who used to be my best friend in college.

“Trying to run away are you?” Jeremy asked. His voice laced with amusement.

“Stop teasing her babe, she wouldn’t do that. Would you?” she looked at me with that same mischievous smirk she always carried.

“No, I just couldn’t find where the reunion was”

“Oh dear, you’re just as clueless as ever. Don’t worry we’ll take you”

They shared a glance making me feel uneasy. I knew how this would go. I always ended up humiliated in these reunions. They would always find something to take a dig at me. It was either my clothes or the fact that I wasn’t in their social circle anymore. As we got into the lounge, I watched as everyone cozied up to Jeremy and Sarah trying to curry favor with them. Jeremy had just signed a contract with Grey corporations, which was one of the biggest companies in the city and Sarah was a rising star, an internet sensation. They all pushed past me as they spoke to them. Treating me like I was invisible. I had gotten used to this. I walked over to an empty chair when one of my classmates spoke.

“Selena, how dare you sit there? Don’t you know that that is Sarah’s chair?”

“It’s alright Donald, she’s my best friend after all. She can sit wherever she wants”

“Sarah, you’re still as kind and considerate as always” he said to her. Then turning to me he shot me a look. “Unlike some people”

I got the message and sat on the next sit. “It’s alright Sarah, the seat is yours, and I shouldn’t covert it”

Satisfied that I had given up the seat they all sat down. They spoke to each other catching up and talking about their jobs and assets.  I sat quietly, eating my meal as I watched them through my eyelids.

“Do you regret leaving Jeremy?” one of our classmates spoke turning everyone’s attention to me.

“Don’t ask her that. That was years ago, we’ve all moved on from that, right Selena?”

Sarah said, with fake care. She interlocked her hands with Jeremy and they stared at each other causing everyone to whistle and clap. They all knew that the reason I left Jeremy was because he cheated on me with Sarah. That had destroyed my relationship with the two of them. Jeremy had said that he always loved Sarah and I was just in the way so I broke up with him. They did this every time they got together, asking me if I regretted it now that he became a big shot. I didn’t, but they never believed me.

“Even if she regrets it, I wouldn’t get back with her. I’m engaged to my first love” he said as he put his hands round Sarah’s shoulders.

“Engaged? Wow, congratulations” one classmate said.  “I’m sure you’d want to get back together with him, especially now that he just signed one of the biggest contracts. Sarah, you better watch out for Selena.”

“Selena wouldn’t do that, right” she turned towards me, giving me a mocking smirk

“No” I said finally looking up from my food. “I don’t even want him”

“Really?” Jeremy laughed as he leaned forward. “You don’t need to pretend. How about you drink this and maybe I would let you spend the night with me”

I scoffed. He was still a jerk. An immature engaged jerk. “There’s no need for that” I stood up. “I think it’s time I leave”

I stood up, about to leave when one of our classmates grabbed me. “Can’t you see that Jeremy is being nice? You’re so ungrateful”

“It’s alright if she doesn’t want me. She might be interested in one of us. How about that? Would you like one of them to be your sugar daddy?” he smirked, mocking me.

I watched as everyone laughed and Sarah came to me with a glass. “Alright, alright. We’re all classmates, stop bullying her. Forget about them, here have a drink. If you aren’t interested in any of them, I can introduce you to some of my rich friends”

Her words sparked another round of laughter as everyone mocked me.

“Sarah is right. Didn’t you come here to get back with Jeremy or bag a sugar daddy? I’ll tell you what, go home with me tonight and if you please me, I would reward you greatly”

More laughter. Another classmate came forward. “How much do you make a day? Maybe if you beg Jeremy, he could hire you or recommend some jobs to you”

“She’s not qualified for that. How about a job as a cleaner? I promise you, you would make a lot. Or you could be my mistress” Jeremy winked.

I felt disgust surge through me. I was fed up, I turned to leave but Jeremy grabbed me. “I never said you could leave. You didn’t even pay for the food you ate. Can you even afford it? How about you kneel down and apologize to me”

“Apologize?” I scoffed. “I hadn’t done anything wrong. How much is the food? I would pay for it”

He smirked. “Five hundred thousand dollars” he said. Showing his five fingers

My eyes widened. “Five hundred? For that?”

“This hotel is owned by the Greys. Of course, everything is high end and as such, expensive” one classmate said proudly”

“Well how much is my share? I would pay for that”

They laughed. It was obvious, they had planned this to humiliate me.

“But Selena, you’re to pay. You’re the sponsor of this event”

“What? I barely touched my food and now you want me to pay?”

“I could help you, but you would have to spend the night with me first” Jeremy said laughing. Seeing I wasn’t complying he gestured to our classmates and ordered. “Hey! Bring me those glasses”

They forced me to kneel as the forced me to drink the first glass. They were about to give me the second one, Sarah stopped them and for the first time in a long time I was grateful to her. They knew I had a weak stomach so seeing her with that glass of water made me glad.

“It’s alright guys. I would pay for it, no need to bully her” turning to me she handed me the water. “Here, you will feel better after you drink this”

“Our beautiful Sarah is still a kind and thoughtful girl” they praised

Seconds after I drank the water, I felt dizzy and the room began to spin.

“Let me help you” Sarah said as she helped me up. She helped me out of the lounge. Everything was blur and I couldn’t see where she was taking me. My body grew hot with a burning desire. Sarah opened a door and shoved me inside. Locking the door behind me she said. “This is all your fault. You shouldn’t have tried seducing Jeremy. He’s mine”

Everything began to make sense. Sarah betrayed me. Again. She must have spiked the water. As the burning desire grew, I began to bang on the door, pleading. Then I felt a hand wrap around my waist.

“Help me, please” a man said as he pressed his body against mine.

Eric Grey stood by the window sipping his wine. He knew that his enemies were watching him. Trying to take him down as the Alpha. The elders were pressuring him to find a Luna and give an heir and he still had to take full control of Grey Corporation. He didn’t need all this pressure and it was beginning to get him blood thirsty.  Since he walked into the hotel, he had been feeling a strange heat rush through his veins. His wolf kept stirring restlessly and it heightened his senses. It was the scent. That strange intoxicating scent that sent his heart thundering. It wasn’t just the scent, he felt a strange pull. Like a whisper calling him, begging for his attention.

“You have to be careful” Jared, his Beta said. Drawing him from his thoughts

“I know” he said as he took another sip of his wine.

“Kyle is coming after you in full force. My sources tell me he rallied some other wolves against you. He doesn’t seem to be backing down”

“Do you really think I’m scared of Kyle? I’m his Alpha”

“I know Alpha Eric but he could kill you if he gets close”

He gave a low chuckle. “Then don’t let him get close. As my Beta you’re meant to protect me, right”

“That is what I’m trying to do Alpha Eric. Don’t go to the party tonight”

“You know I can’t do that. I represent the Grey Corporation”

“But”

“I’m going. And that’s final”

Jared shook his head as he followed Eric to the lobby. Eric never listened. Immediately the came in Carrie, the woman everyone expected to be Eric’s Luna walked towards him with a glass of wine. She threw Jared an annoyed glare before handing the glass to Eric.

“Here you go, darling”

“Don’t call me that. I’ve told you to stop giving people the wrong idea”

That was all he ever said. He never really acted. He sipped the wine and walked away with Carrie giving Jared a mocking smile.

As Eric sipped the wine he began to feel dizzy and stumbled into Carrie’s arms.

“Are you alright? Do you want to help you back to your suite?”

He nodded as he took her hand, but pushed her aside as realization crept in. She had drugged him. How didn’t he anticipate this? He began to feel a burning sensation. He began to loosen his tie and looking at her with anger he growled.

“You drugged me?”

Before she could speak Jared dragged her out. Eric stumbled away from the lobby trying to find his way to his suite. The heat in his body grew as he held unto the walls for support. He walked into his room and downed a glass of water. It seemed to make it worse, he took of his suit and threw it unto the bed. His wolf growled. He heard his door open and that strong feeling was back. He heard a woman’s voice begging and banging on the door. With no other way to stop the desire he found himself walking towards the voice. He needed an immediate remedy. Taking hi hand t her waist and pressing his body against her he said.

“Help me, please”

Days passed and Vincent and his men where quiet, Too quiet.Training continued and the patrols doubled. The fortress pulsed with tension, everyone waiting for Eric’s strike on The Cradle. But Vincent didn’t wait. He watched and when everyone least expected it, he moved. In the woods beyond the fortress, a low fog crept through the trees, swallowing roots and shadows alike. Three figures moved soundlessly beneath the veil of mist, clothed in black, faces painted with runic markings.Vincent’s chosen.Spies bred for infiltration. One of them, smaller, with red-tipped claws, pressed a gloved hand to the earth.“They’re asleep,” she whispered. “Eric is gone. Half the guards rotated.”The second pulled out a small carved crystal, humming with dark energy. “We go for the girl first. The boy second. The mother... we bring alive.”“And if they resist?” the third asked.“We won't give them a chance to.”Inside the fortress, I couldn’t sleep.Something had shifted in the air. I could feel it in

  • THE ALPHA'S HIDDEN HEIRS   WHISPERS AND WARS

The fortress walls as the weight of the war burned through the people's sleep. The fires in the eastern tower burned low. I sat with Lucas and Lily wrapped in thick blankets in the hidden chamber below the main wing, watching their eyes as they darted behind fluttering lids. They had another nightmare. No, a vision.Lucas jolted upright, eyes glowing faint silver.“Lily,” he whispered. “Wake up.”She stirred, her small hands trembling as she gripped the side of the cot.“They’re underground,” she whispered before even seeing us.Eric, standing in the doorway, stepped inside.“You saw it again?” he asked quietly.Lucas nodded, his voice hoarse. “There’s a lake... but not really a lake. It’s fake. There’s stone beneath, People.”“Children,” Lily added. “And wolves but they don’t howl. They scream.”“An illusion spell” Eric murmured as he nodded to me.Eric crouched beside them, calm but alert.“That’s The Cradle,” he said, his eyes on me but his attention solely on the kids. “The spy m

  • THE ALPHA'S HIDDEN HEIRS   BREAK THE SILENCE

The chamber beneath the fortress was built for one purpose, extraction. The walls were reinforced with runes to muffle sound. The floor was stone, probably stained by older wars. No windows. Just cold air, steel chains, and shadows.Eric stood at the center, shirtless, his hands bloody from the first strike. Jaden lingered in the background, watching silently. I had taken the twins to a secure wing, locking the door and telling them not to come out, no matter what they heard. After Jaden brought the spies, they had gone in search of more. Only five others were discovered, but it was better then none. The right was quick, just Eric and Jaden against the other five. When the fight was over, the only thing left was their bodies, ribbed apart and creating a stream of blood. Now it was just them. The two spies. One of the men, a young rogue with scars on his neck and silver-threaded tattoos spit a mouthful of blood at Eric’s feet.“You’ll get nothing from us.”Eric didn’t flinch. “I don’t

  • THE ALPHA'S HIDDEN HEIRS   FIRE AND SHADOWS

Vincent stood in front of a shattered altar within the shadowed ruins of the Black pine temple, his eyes burning with fury. Flames crackled around the walls as he hurled a steel goblet into the stone.“She’s dead,” Alina said calmly, though her own tension was clear.Vincent didn’t turn. “I told her to keep her head down. Blend in and Wait for my signal.”“She panicked.”“She was my only direct link ” he spat. “the closest to the plans, She fed us everything for months and made us two steps ahead. Now she’s ash and we're back to square one”Kyle stood a few steps behind, his arms crossed, blood staining the edge of his clothes. “She was weak. She hesitated.”“And you failed to take the twins when you had the chance, you have no right to speak” Vincent said as he turned sharply. “Are we all just failing now?”Kyle’s jaw tightened, but he didn’t speak.Alina approached the map on the wall, pinning two red flags to new positions.“We underestimated them. Eric’s not just reacting anymore

the fortress buzzed with motion. Blood was still being scrubbed from weapons and armor and an unease clung to the walls like smoke. We had won for now but peace was far from what we felt.Something lingered. Someone.“We need to flush them out,” Maya said flatly as she entered the war room, her silver-streaked braid clinging to her back with sweat and dried blood.Eric nodded, not looking away from the reports that Jaden had posted. “Kyle didn’t work alone. He couldn’t have.”“He had access to someone on our side,” Jaden muttered. “The breach... It was too precise.”I stood near the door, arms crossed.“They knew when we were moving. Where we’d be. Even the disguises”Eric turned to me, eyes sharp. “Then we find who did especially since Kyle escaped.”They nodded, something in their eyes gave me a sense of assurance but I knew how long it would last.Maya began tracing every communication made in the last two weeks. Every person's steps, every word. And soon they finally made

  • THE ALPHA'S HIDDEN HEIRS   THE TRAITOR'S HAND

The underground chamber was silent and the children slept uneasily, curled in thick blankets, while I sat on the edge, every muscle in my body wired with tension. Eric stood near the sealed exit, his arms crossed, bruises blooming on his neck and jaw from the earlier attack. We hadn’t spoken much since we were brought to safety. There was no need. The fear in our eyes said it all.“They’ll come again,” I whispered. “Soon.” Eric noddedA soft knock came at the steel door.Jaden entered, his blood-streaked shirt was almost completely torn. “We’re clear, for now, but the western ridge was compromised. It’s only a matter of time before they circle back.” “We will move them tonight.” Eric said silent I shot up. “Tonight? We’re not ready”“We won’t be ready tomorrow either,” he snapped. “I won’t risk them again.”My hands trembled. “And the mole?”Jaden hesitated before answering. “Still sniffing him out. But whoever it is… they knew about the tunnel.”“They knew where to hit.” I didn
