LILLIAN POV

The hospital was a familiar rhythm of beeps and silent voices. I was finishing up notes on a patient’s chart when a young nurse, Emily, approached my station. She wore a curious, slightly amused look on her face.

“Dr. Lillian? There is a delivery for you at the main reception.”

“A delivery?” I asked and glanced at me watch. “Medical supplies?”

Emily smiled widely. “Not unless medical supplies come with a big red bow and smell like roses. It looks….personal.”

I turned to look at her, utter confused. Andre was not the one for grand, public gestures. Especially not at work. We preferred quiet moments. Still, my blood turned warm. Maybe after the heavy talk yesterday, he wanted to lift my spirits.

“Thank you Emily,”

I walked down the corridor to the main reception area. Before I even turned the corner, I could hear the low murmur of excited voices. As I stepped into the open space, I saw why.

A messenger in a crisp uniform stood holding the largest bouquet of deep red roses I

ANDRE POVThe drive back to the pack house felt longer than the drive to the mansion. My hands were still shaky on the wheel. The dinner replayed in my head in a loop that refused to stop. I love you, Lillian.I love you too, Andre. Her words were sweet, but her eyes…they were full questions that I could not answer. She knew something was wrong. She had felt the bond ache. She was smart. How long until she put the pieces together?” I parked the car and walked into the silent pack house inna daze. Most lights were off. It was late.I did not go straight to my chambers. I just stood in the grand hallway and bowed my head, then I closed my eyes and sent a desperate, silent prayer to the night.Moon Goddess, hear me. Please. Let her not suspect. Let her believe the lies. Let the bond have been weak, or confused. Let her trust me, just this once, let my shame stay hidden. For my sake. Do not let my mistake hurt her.The prayer felt empty. The Moon Goddess blessed true bonds and honest h

LILLIAN POVI smoothed my dress for the tenth time nervously as the car pulled up to the Glass House. The restaurant was all glittering windows and soft light. It was beautiful. It should have been perfect. But my stomach was filled with nerves and the ghost of that bond ache still whispered continuously in my chest.Andre came around and opened my car door. His had a wide smile on his face, but it did not reach his eyes. “Ready?” he asked in a cheery way.“Ready,” I said and took his outstretched hand.He held my hand tightly, almost tightly, as we walked inside. The host led us to a private table by a huge window over looking the city. It was the best table in the place.“This is….amazing, Andre,” I said, as I sat down. “Only the best for you,” he said quickly and picked up the menu but did not look at it. His eyes darted around the room as he avoided mine. A waiter brought water and Andre immediately jumped into action. “Still or sparkling for you, love? They have a great sparkli

DRAKE POVBeta Ben, General Voss, and I were in the war room. We were going over the final security checks for the gala tomorrow. Papers and maps were everywhere.“The last of the guest confirmations came in an hour ago,” Beta Ben said as he checked the list. “We have three hundred and forty two confirmed guests. All names checked against our allied pack list.”General Voss, who is a serious man with a scar across his chin, pointed at a map of the pack house grounds. “My men are in position at all outer points. No one enters the perimeter without being seen.”I nodded. “Good. What about staff? The caterers. The musicians?”“All vetted,” Ben assured me. “Every single person working tomorrow has been checked. We have guards assigned to watch the kitchens and service entrances.”The door opened and Lucas walked in and nodded at us. “Perimeter sweep is complete. All clear.”General Voss immediately stood straight and saluted. “Head of security.”Lucas waved off the salute casually. “At ea

ANDRE POVLucas was in my chambers, trying desperately to get me to focus, to cheer up. I was supposed to be getting ready for dinner with Lillian. My tuxedo and white was laid out in the bed, but I could not bring my self to put them on.“So,” Lucas said as he leaned against the doorframe. “The Glass house, huh? Fancy. You sure you remember which fork to use for salad? He chuckled as he tried to lighten the heavy air in the room.I barely registered the joke. My mind was a thousand miles away, stuck in my office two nights ago. The memory played over and over again in my head. Willow’s tears, her soft lips, the shock and the guilt.“Andre.” Lucas called out impatiently. He was no longer smiling. He crossed the room quickly, grabbed my shoulders, and turned me around to face him. His grip was firm and almost painful. “What is your deal? Talk to me. You have been a ghost for two days.”I tried to shrug him off lightly, “it is nothing, just stress. The gala, the security, everything.”“

LUCAS POVI went to the clinic to see Salome. I could not wait until the gala tomorrow. I missed my mate so much.I found her in the staff lounge, finishing some notes. Her face lit up when she saw me.“Could not just stay away, could you?” She teased excitedly as she stood up to hug me.“Not a chance,” I said and held her tightly to my chest. “One more day of this formal separation feels like too much.”She laughed against my shoulder. “I know. Seeing all of Andre’s grand gestures for Lillian just makes it worse. Makes me miss you more.”I pulled back and scoffed playfully. “Do not mind Andre. He is just showing off. Acting like he is the only one with a mate. Do not worry, we will have our time tomorrow.”She smiled, but it did not quite reach her eyes. We talked for a few minutes about the gala security details. Then, I asked the question that had been on my mind.“How is Lillian handling all this? Really? Tomorrow…she will see Drake again. In front of everyone. That is heavy.”Sal

LILLIAN POVMy hands would not stop shaking.I was at the hospital, but my mind was mikes away. It kept circling back to last night—that sharp, sudden pain in my chest where the mate bond lived. And then the flowers. The necklace. The dinner invitation. It felt like a beautiful, desperate performance.“Dr. Lillian?” My elderly patient, Mrs. Alba, smiled up at me from the exam bed. “is everything alright, dear? You seem a little pale.”“I am fine, Mrs. Alba. Just a long day.” I forced a smile on my face and picked up the syringe. It was a simple B12 injection. I had done it a thousand times. My fingers fumbled with the cap, as my hand shook violently.I swabbed her arm, my movement automatic as my mind flashed to Andre’s distant eyes, at our last meeting. The way he had hugged me a little too tightly, like he was holding on to something slipping away.“Just a small pinch,” I murmured, as I lined up the needle. But my focus wavered again. Instead of aiming for the muscle, my shaking han
