“Of course I am.”

"Then what's causing the delay?" Mom's voice grew sharper. "A baby would secure your position completely. Once you're carrying his heir, Darrell will be completely devoted to you. He'll move heaven and earth to protect you and his child. Even if he found out about everything we have done, he won't want to abandon the mother of his child. Don't you get that?"

"We need to go to the hospital and run more tests. Find out why exactly you're not conceiving."
