SECRET LOVER

Alpha Kane was Ava's first kiss, first love and the first and only person to ever make love to her. 

Ava could not help but marvel because tomorrow is the day that Alpha Kane is going to pick her as his mate and make her the Luna of Midnight pack. Finally, their secret relationship will be revealed to the members of the Midnight pack and they will not be hiding anymore when they show each other sweet emotions. 

Her wolf wanted to dance in celebration but she had to stop it because her sister Cynthia walked in. 

Ava rolled her eyes in annoyance. She knew that she definitely needed to leave because her sister was nothing but an annoying Nancy and she did not want her energy right now. 

"Hi," Ava greeted her before she threw on a black denim coat. She wanted to leave and be with her lover, Alpha Kane. 

"Beta Ian does not want to solve things between us," Cynthia complained and Ava noticed that her eyes were swollen, probably from too much crying. 

Ava could not help but feel disappointed in her. Cynthia is her big sister who is old enough to know her worth.

"He doesn't deserve you and I am really concerned with how you are chasing after him. Why are you so desperate?" Ava asked her as she eyed her up and down. 

"You know what, forget about that. Let us talk about you. Ever since mama and papa passed away after what witch Jezebel did, you have been leaving the house at strange times. I am your sister and I should know where you normally go every night."Cynthia scolded her but Ava had heard enough from her. 

"I am old enough. I am not supposed to report to you on anything. You should learn to mind your own business!I now understand why Beta Ian dumped you. You are too much Cynthia" Ava snarled as she walked out of their house. 

Their parents' deaths are still fresh in Ava's mind and the last thing that Ava needed at this moment is to be reminded of it. Ava loved her parents so much. Seeing them being murdered right in front of her was not an easy sight to see. She is still suffering from that traumatic experience. 

Alpha Kane had done his best in showing her love during that difficult time and actually,that is what she needs right now, not a sister who is always in her business. 

Ava calmed her wolf that wanted to scream out loud as she hastened her pace. 

Cynthia always destroys everything that is perfect and that is why she did not want to tell her about her secret love affair with Alpha Kane. Despite them being sisters, they are not as close as people would think. Besides, Cynthia was never around in the period that she dated Beta Ian. 

Cynthia is a warrior. What inspires her to train every morning is her parents death and that of the other parents of Midnight pack. She wanted revenge so badly. She wanted the head of witch Jezebel for that matter. 

She was so caught up in training to fight that she did not have time for her baby sister. Ava grew up so fast and by the time she created time for her, Ava was already sneaking out at night, meeting with this mystery person she knows nothing about. 

Cynthia cared about Ava but Ava took it as if she was intruding in her business. Cynthia has been heartbroken before by Beta Ian and she did not want her sister to go through that.  

Anyway, Ava was not willing to listen. She acted like a typical teenager who was in love yet she is twenty one. Cynthia wished that Ava could listen as she told her the truth about love. Love is hard. Love makes people weak.

 Heartbreaks are even worse, they can make you attempt to kill yourself if you are not strong enough. Ava barely listens to her and therefore she fears for her fate with the mystery person that she is seeing. 

Ava quickened her steps even further as she walked behind the quarters. She finally arrived and stood beside the tree that was next to the Alpha's house. From there, Alpha Kane would be able to smell her scent and come looking for her. 

Alpha Kane looked at Beta Ian then back at the piece of paper. He was sweating profusely as he huffed and puffed in anger. 

"This is impossible!" He shouted at him as he banged the table in annoyance. 

"Calm down and think straight . Being angry will not help in this case. Witch Jezebel is coming back to kill all of us if you do not do something. I understand that you assumed the Alpha's position as a young boy but now you are a man and you are going to choose your mate tomorrow. Let me advise you on that. You need to choose a Luna who will lead the warriors of the Midnight Pack into getting revenge for what was stolen from us!" Beta Ian explained as Alpha Kane paced around the room impatiently. 

What was he going to do? He loved Ava so much and he wanted her as his mate but that will be impossible now that witch Jezebel needed to be stopped. 

Ava is weak. She hates fighting. She prefers painting and doing her makeup. There is no way the pack will accept her as his mate because of how weak she is. 

The pack is broken thanks to the spell that witch Jezebel cast. The pack was forced to turn only in the full moon and if that was not enough, their werewolf powers were taken away. They could only communicate with their wolves but they lost the ability to turn, to have a sharp hearing,to have a supersonic speed and to smell scent from far away.  

He was the only one in the pack who had the werewolves powers because when Jezebel cast the spell, he had gone to a distant pack to deliver a note from his dad. 

"Think about the pack. You are the Alpha of this pack and you need to put the needs of the pack before your own. That is what your father did. You need to follow his footsteps, that is what he expects from you, " Beta Ian stated and that is when the scent of strawberries eased to his nose. 

He had always loved her scent since the first time that they met in the woods when Alpha Kane was training and Ava was picking flowers for her latest paint project. 

"Excuse me!" Alpha Kane told Beta Ian as he made for the door. He knew that Ava was waiting for him. 

"But we are not done here!" Beta Ian whined. 

"I am the Alpha and I command you to give me some time alone," Alpha Kane ordered before going downstairs where he saw her. 

Ava was dressed in a pink bodycon dress which accentuated her curves perfectly.  Her bouncy curly hair fell on her shoulders. Heck,she was perfect. Her ocean blue eyes and pretty face made him forget about his problems. Ava was the most beautiful girl in Midnight pack and that is why he fell in love with her. 

 Alpha Kane hugged Ava from behind and she smiled from ear to ear. Heck, she loved him so much. She loved him more than life itself. She would literally give up her life to save him. That is how deep her love towards him is. 

Since Alpha Kane did not want to risk anyone seeing them together, especially Beta Ian, he carried her and ran with her to the far end of the land where there were only beautiful gardens. 

"My love,"Alpha Kane wrapped her in his warm embrace and Ava felt sweet tingles rushing through her veins. Heat seeped through her skin as if she was made of paper. 

"Baby. My love,I can't wait for tomorrow. I can't wait for you to tell the entire pack that I am your mate. I can't wait for our relationship to be out there to the public. By the way sweetheart, can you imagine that we have been secretly seeing each other for three years now? I love you so much Alpha Kane and I can't wait to be your Luna, the Luna of Midnight pack"  Ava proudly stated and Alpha Kane did not know how best he was going to tell her that he was about to reject her as his mate.

He had to choose her sister Cynthia instead because she is a warrior and that is who Midnight pack need as their Luna. 

"Why are you so quiet? Is everything okay?" Ava asked Alpha Kane when she caught him lost in his thoughts. 

"We need to talk…" Alpha Kane stated and Ava could not help but feel his stomach become a pit of nerves. 

She could tell that something was wrong somewhere. But what was it?

Or maybe she is overreacting. Alpha Kane is playing with her. He will definitely choose her as the Luna of Midnight Pack because he loves her so much. 

He once mentioned that she is his weakness and heartbeat.
