Chapter 6: The Hidden Power

Two weeks had passed since Elara's encounter with Damon at the grocery store, and her training with Selene had progressed rapidly. Every night, she and Chloe met the elder at the Sacred Circle, where Elara learned to control her growing powers and Chloe honed her abilities as a power amplifier.

Elara did as she was told, closing her eyes and reaching inward. At first, she felt only the familiar wolf power, the energy she had been accessing for weeks. But then, beneath that, she sensed something else—something darker, colder, but equally powerful.

"Good," Selene said. "Now, try to access it. Imagine it as a different kind of light—silver instead of gold."

Elara concentrated, visualizing the vampire power as silver light. Slowly, the light began to grow, spreading through her body and filling her with a cold, sharp energy. Her wolf stirred uneasily, responding to the foreign power, but Elara forced it down.

"Excellent," Selene praised. "Now, try to use it. Focus on something and will it to happen."

Elara opened her eyes and looked at a small branch on the ground. She focused on it, willing it to disintegrate. For a moment, nothing happened. But then, slowly, the branch began to crumble, turning to dust as if it had aged a thousand years in seconds.

"I did it," Elara whispered, amazed. "I actually did it."

"That is the power of vampire blood," Selene explained. "The ability to manipulate time and decay, to drain energy from living things. It is a dangerous power, Elara, and one you must use carefully."

"Incredible," Selene murmured. "You are even more powerful than I thought."

"I mean you could defeat him," Selene corrected. "If you chose to."

"Good morning," she replied. "Ready for tonight?"

"Always," Chloe replied. "Selene says tonight is going to be intense."

Chloe picked her up at dusk, and they drove to the Sacred Circle in silence. The moon was already visible in the sky, growing larger and brighter as the night progressed.

Selene was waiting for them at the circle, her expression serious. "Tonight is important, Elara. The full moon will amplify your powers, but it will also amplify the vampire side of your heritage. You need to be careful not to let it consume you."
