3 YEARS LATER…
"Today's a big day, Melissa. I'll always root for you." Kristen said.
Melissa let out a smile, putting a finishing touch to her light makeup. She stared down at her daughter who was still sleeping on her little bed"
"I'll take care of Mia, and we'll come watch you win."
Melissa giggled. "Stop being so optimistic. How am I gonna feel if I don't win after all."
"I and Mia will cheer you up." Kristen replied.
Melissa walked towards her daughter's bed, lowered her head and pecked her daughter lightly. "Mommy loves you so very much, Mia" She murmured in order not to wake her sleeping child.
The one thing Melissa noticed while her child was growing up was the fact that Mia was so very much attached to Kristen and they could never be apart from each other. She was glad about this because he was a good man. He was there for her all through the years, and during the time of her complications while she was giving birth to Mia
Melissa had almost lost her life due to countless complications during and after the pregnancy, but then Kristen never once got tired or gave up on her. He was there through thick and thin and she could never thank him enough.
Melissa was now the owner of a not too popular restaurant, and she also owned a bakery. Cooking was the one thing Melissa always dreamt of doing, and when the opportunity presented itself she grabbed it and worked really hard. She only has one more achievement, and that was to win an award that was going to bring her bakery and restaurant to a greater height.
As Melissa stepped out, she immediately realised that she had forgotten something. It was her ring. She rushed back into the house only to meet Kristen with the baby. He was holding the little girl so close to his chest that it made her nearly cry.
No one in the world would ever be able to love her baby like Kristen does.
Not wanting to destroy this beautiful moment, she tiptoed back out of the house and got into the car.
Melissa smiled. She just had to be bold and do everything she could to win the award. She had been preparing so hard for this day.
She sucked in a deep breath and ignited her engine immediately.

"Miss Kim, you'll be up next in 5 minutes." Melissa heard her name. Fear gripped her so much. No one was allowed to see her face, especially the judges. They were going to be hidden until the contest was over.
Her hands trembled when she heard her name and her heart thumped hard. She really needed the fame that would come with winning the competition.
Just before Melissa would be done preparing, her phone rang. It was a video call from Kristen.
She pressed the green button wondering why he was calling.
"Hey Melissa! We're here." Kristen said with a smile on his face.
"Say hi to momma."
"Momma." Mia said when she saw Melissa on the phone. The joy in her heart knew no bounds hearing her daughter call her name. Blakeley was simply her strength.
"Miss Kim, you're up now."
"Goodbye Kristen, I gotta go now." Melissa said and ended the call immediately. She dipped her phone into her pocket and sucked another deep and confident breath in.
She began walking to the stage where she was given a seat. She was sitting behind the curtains because she was not meant to be shown to anyone.
"Contestant number 10, tell us what you have here."
"Right on the left I have chocolate millefeuille, and at the middle there's crispy fried oysters with cornmeal butter, and on the right there's canlis salad." Melissa said with an audible and confident voice.
"Judges." The lady who had called her out earlier spoke.
Once Melissa could hear their footsteps heading towards her meal, her heart began thumping again but she found confidence in herself.
About 10 minutes later, she heard the lady's voice again.
"That's gonna be all. You may leave now."
Melissa rose up on her feet to leave, but then she heard a familiar voice.
"Stop."
She found herself immediately stopping when she heard the voice. It sounded so familiar and even in her dream she was never going to forget that voice.
Silently, Melissa prayed it wouldn't be who she was expecting it to be. It had been so long, yet his voice was still the same.
"Your name please." He asked.
Melissa wasn't sure if she could lie about her name because she had already written her real name while she was contesting earlier.
She was scared to say it, and for a minute, she remained silent until she heard the lady's voice.
"Contestant number 10."
Melissa fluttered her brows twice, returning back to reality. Her eyes were already watery and she didn't know why.
"Melissa Kim." She replied and immediately started walking away.
Immediately Melissa got back to the room where the remaining contestants were waiting, she nearly fell on the floor. She couldn't believe what was happening. Alex was here and he found out about her after tasting her food.
She began packing her things into the small bag she had brought earlier. She had to leave even if it meant forfeiting the award. She couldn't let Alex find her or her baby. She had promised never to forgive him, and she was hell bent on never forgiving him because he had no idea what she went through.
In a hurry, she rushed out of the room. She was certain Alex would try and find her and make her life miserable again.
Kristen noticing something was wrong hurriedly began looking for Melissa.
After searching for a few minutes, he found her heading towards the car.
"Melissa, what's wrong?"
"Mia, give me my baby." Melissa said and immediately took her child. She wrapped her arms around Mia, while Kristen couldn't help but wonder what was going on.
"What happened?"
Melissa didn't utter a word, but got into the car.
"We need to leave, right now." She said in a tone that got him even worried. It felt as if Melissa was trying to run away from something or someone. Not wanting to ask further questions, Kristen got into the car and ignited the engine.
The moment he drove away, Melissa buried her face on her palm and began sobbing while holding her child tight. The thought of Alex almost finding out about everything scared the hell out of her, and that pain she had tried to keep hidden resurfaced to the top. What he had done to
her_the humiliation, the rejection, everything suddenly came back again and this time without a warning.
Through some intervention Alex wasn't too sure about, Melissa had escaped hurting herself or her babies after she was attacked by Victoria.Fortunately for them both, Melissa didn't also lose her life in the hospital after they went there when she went into labor.Six years later ..."Mia, go upstairs this minute and get your two brothers down or they'll be late for school." Mia mimicked her mother. Mia and Melissa laughed at the same time."Mom, I mean I'm on a break but you have no idea that Roland and Jasper pretend to be asleep even when I scream. I didn't even do that when I was their age." Mia whined. She was now in Sophomore year and on a winter break but now, it sucked playing senior sister.Melissa smiled, "come on, they are your sweet little brothers. Now, why don't you go call them to join us for breakfast? I might convince your father to take us to the park today." "Okay Mother, I'll just get the apple pies from the oven on my way back," Mia said and smiled. Over the years
As Kristen walked into the room, he could hear no sound but the sounds of heavy breathing ... And he could perceive the smell of death hanging in the air.Yes, he had trusted his instincts and walked according to his intuition and this room was where it brought him.Kristen traced his hands on the wall and when he found the light switch, he turned on the lightThe sight that greeted his sight was dumbfounding yet, it had a lovely feeling attached to it. Kristen was glad about what he was seeing but he tried his best to pull off a grim expression."Hello there. Who would have thought that Alexander would be here, slitting Victoria's throat?" Kristen walked closer to Alex who stood still, observing him."You know, you don't look like you're on her side," Alex said and then went to some sink to wash his hands off the staining blood of Victoria."And neither am I on your side," Kristen said with a sour face before he chuckled and continued."You know, I must have been joking just now. Ther
Alex worriedly walked around the hospital lobby like he had lost his mind. Melissa had lost so much blood before they came to the hospital. Coupled with this fact, the doctor had told him that there was very little chance she could come out of the operation room alive. When the doctor told him that his baby's life and the life of Melissa were at risk, he had pleaded with the doctor to save the life of his wife. Not that he didn't care about the baby or anything. If he lost his mate, he wasn't sure if he was going to still keep sane.Melissa was just someone he couldn't bear to lose.Alex wiped his sweaty forehead with a handkerchief and by the time he dipped back into his pants pocket, a look of determination masked his face.He stared at the door of the room they had kept Melissa in and a deep sigh escaped his dry lips.Alexander's heart shook the more. He didn't want to be here when the doctor would give his report about Melissa's health status. It would be so disheartening and he ju
Today was Melissa's day for a check-up and right now she was sad that Alex didn't go to the hospital with her. Normally, she wouldn't have been feeling this way but it seemed that her pregnancy hormones were really kicking in badly.Melissa could have simply used one of Alexander's cars or even gone ahead to enter a cab but then, she wanted to walk for a few. At least she'd get to think a whole lot about her life and then her legs weren't going to be pretty swollen.Alex had warned her never to walk alone. She was to walk in the company of other wolves but today she had bribed one of those men Aled had hired qs driver's and personal bodyguards so they wouldnt even as much as escort her today. All of a sudden, a cream-colored Jaguar pulled up in front of her, making her to squint her eyes in concentration.Melissa didn't know why but it was as though she was getting lightheaded and seeing some colors she knew they didn't exist in the sky on a normal pregnant-free day.A group of men ju
Kristen stopped at some certain place and alighted from the car. Sophia alighted from the car, seeing that Kristen seemed to be in a hurry."I need you to be strong with whatever you're gonna hear in there. I didn't want you to come with me but you're one stubborn girlfriend." Kristen said and held her hand as they briskly walked in.Now inside the building, the first sight that came into view was a magnanimous conference room that made Sophia wonder if there were such rooms as big as this in the world."Stop the meeting, he is no heir of my father." An old man coughed and slowly cast his gaze to the entrance where Kristen stood with Sophia beside him. "You've been dethroned, young man, you have no rights here." The old man said and leaned back in his seat as though he was already tired. He was the executive head and the oldest man in the Shelvis Cooperation. He even had this company and mafia association built with Kristen's Father."I have evidence. Evidence to show that you all a
You're home now, I'll leave you to sleep and then I'll text you first thing tomorrow morning." Kristen whispered, kissed Sophia's forehead, and got up.He was in Sophia's house right now and it was almost night. He had a lot to do and he wasn't supposed to be here but Sophia was running a fever and he had to stay with her for a while. As he was about to move, Sophia's frail hands caught his in a grip and he wondered how she knew he was leaving. When he kissed her forehead just now, she was fast asleep."Please stay with me, I can't sleep without you," Sophia uttered with her eyes still closed.Kristen sat back down on the bed and after a while, Sophia fell asleep. He tried to sneak out of the room again, but he heard Sophia say another, "Please, Kristen, don't leave me. I feel so cold and lonely."Kristen shrugged and got under the covers with her. A night of cuddling with her was going to not harm right?Despite that he had a lot of things he wanted to do that night, he decided to sh
