CADEN “What did she say?” I asked Ryker, dropping the paper I had been perusing earlier on the table before me. A picture of Ryker pulling Xaviera out of what looked like a ruckus graced the front page generously. He had effortlessly become a constant topic in the blogs this past week, and he had dragged Xaviera along. MATES OVER DATES: ALPHA RYKER MAKES HIS CHOICE. So he had told his girlfriend off, because she had tried to assault his mate. How chivalrous. But chivalry wasn't Ryker. This man avoided drama like a plague, but here he was, in the centre of it, and causing more series to unfold. “Her answer is what's happening downstairs,” he shrugged. The house was a hive when I walked in. Several cars were parked outside, bringing in and removing things. Designer dresses in trolleys rolled up and down. So, Xaviera was really moving in with him? Why did I expect her to put up a resistance? “When is she coming?” “Tomorrow,” he said. “That is kinda fast,” I commented.
XAVIERA I threw myself into work to keep my mind away from last night's hap. Someone had broken into my room. Anna believed it was some perverted Paparazzi and was genuinely worried. But somehow I knew it wasn't. And I knew Calum and Felix knew that too. They'd manned the door throughout the night, and Anna had slept in my bed because she was too disturbed to let me sleep alone. The thoughts of my nightmare, and the possibility that someone had been in my room while I slept successfully kept sleep far away. I had sent the girls a message immediately after I left for work. My shift would be over late afternoon, and coincidentally Leesa would be getting off work at the same time. Adeline worked at her father's firm, so she had it sorted out. Few minutes before my shift was over, Leesa and Adeline strolled in, each in their work clothes. The restaurant was almost empty, with the lunch rush long over, few persons hung inside, the rest stayed under the Canopy outside. “You're early” I
ALPHA RYKER I read through the files and contracts my company had with several other businesses, then sent them to my lawyer with notes, edits and approvals for some. By the time I was done with my work, it was late afternoon. I decided to go for a little drive, get some air probably up the hills that led towards the other side of Crescent moon. I was to leave for Black Isle in two days, I just felt I needed to breathe more of my Pack's air before leaving. I grabbed the keys of my Audi R8 Spyder and strolled out of my study. When I entered the hallways, I decided to check on Reuben first before leaving. Earlier this morning, he had another attack, which hadn't happened for quite some time, and it took a lot of hands to calm him. The Salutris had said anymore attacks and he might not survive it. The room was slightly open when I got to it. Beside an unconscious Reuben, lay Rose curved in a little ball, her fingers intertwined with his. At a closer observation, their auras intertwi
XAVIERA Today was the day I had always anticipated. The weather was bright, and the birds chirped joyously. Our house was a beehive, and I could hear almost every chatter, and rapid steps downstairs. I stood over my window, watching people troop into Red Manor, perfect smiles on their faces. They were here for me, well for both of us. I watched as several models and hues of cars brought each guest, left them at the foot of the entrance steps, and then drove away, giving room for another to repeat that action all over again. Then like every other vehicle before it, a black limousine drove up to the steps, and stopped. Few seconds later, a dark haired man dressed in black tux alighted. Unlike other guests, there was something about him that piqued my interest immediately. An ominous aura as he looked around. Who was he? I wasn't sure I'd seen him before. Then he looked up to my window, and our eyes met; soulless eyes pierced deep into mine. I stepped back instinctively. I'd seen h
ALPHA RYKER“Alpha, I do not think going to the Black Isle is a wise decision. We all know how diabolical those people can be. Also with the attack on Littlemoon, the Dark moon pack will be planning a serious reinforcement, and it isn't even news that we are number one on their hit list. The pack needs you here to protect it from upcoming attacks” Elder Amar spoke, his voice unusually gentle, and his posture, if I didn't already know he was crooked, seemed humble. I had noticed this change in his demeanor right from the time we returned from Littlemoon. After he had discovered the extent to which we went to rescue the remaining three Sentinels, after his nephew had returned hearty and hale, his fashion seemed to have changed. He was still a conniving old twat, but he had become more subtle. This however wasn't a relief. It had only made me become more wary of him. I couldn't be fooled by his antics, a leopard never loses its spots. “Black Isle would never attend to Rueben unless I
CADENThe days went by slowly, and Rueben's condition deteriorated rapidly. Ryker had reached out to Black Isle severally via faxes and letters—the lot had limited their use of technology for communication to fax and letters— yet, their response remained the same. He had to travel with the sick man if he needed their help, or they wouldn't be attending to him. I drove through the busy honks of cars, Cyclists and chatters of a typical Crescent weekday afternoon, no immediate destination in mind. I had gotten off work quite early, and even if going home was my intention when I left the office, I had decided to drive around town.My thoughts dwelled on Ryker. After several deliberations, and the Black Isle's insistence, he decided to go with them. From what I had heard, Black Isle wasn't just a magical fortress with crystals and sapphire sprouting from its grounds, it was a sect of the most powerful medicine women. Medicine that might have found its way to Crescent via one of its peopl
