CHAPTER 128

Lucien’s POV

The sky was unusually clear tonight, stars filled the sky, it was as if even the stars were celebrating with us tonight. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement, happiness, the smell of good food and drink as the pack members gathered in the center of the pack for the welcoming night celebration for Callen’s new wife.

Everyone loved each other in the pack, so we always gathered to celebrate new wife or any grand or little thing in this manner. The fire pits were lit, the children were happy and playing around while the women sat down, some where watching the children while the others were eating, talking and laughing with Callen’s luna. The men were laughing, eating and talking with Callen who kept on stealing glances at his luna as if she would run away if he didn’t keep an eye on her.

I stood near the raised dais, observing the festivities with a practiced smile. I lifted a goblet of spiced wine to my lips, barely tasting it. Callen stood beside me, laug

  • THE ALPHA’S SILENT BRIDE   CHAPTER 133

CHAPTER 133Tarlyn’s POVI was accused of being a murderer. They said I killed him.Hands gripped my arms hard enough to bruise it, and dragged me across the stone floor. The scent of blood and fear filled my nostrils. It was thick, choking, and suffocating. My feet stumbled and my vision blurred, but I didn’t resist. There was no point in doing so. The hallways twisted around me, familiar yet foreign under the torchlight, each flame burning like an accusation. But I hadn’t. The words kept ringing inside my head like a broken chant as they pushed me forward. My knees scraped against rough stone, my cloak tore, and my hair clung to my face. Somewhere behind me, a voice barked an order, but I couldn’t make sense of it anymore. Everything had dissolved into noise, breath, and disbelief. When I was forced through the great doors of the council chamber, the light blinded me for a moment. The torches were brighter here and so was the air. It was thicker. The elders’ faces blurred before s

  • THE ALPHA’S SILENT BRIDE   CHAPTER 132

Lucien’s POVThe pack had grown restless. And so did the air in the council chamber. It felt heavy that morning; too still and too thick with the weight of things unspoken. Even before I stepped across the threshold, I could feel the pressure gathering like a storm that had been waiting too long to break. The stone walls reverberated faintly with murmured voices. I knew what this summons meant. I’d felt it coming for days.Rumors were spreading faster than orders could silence them. Something was breaking quietly, invisibly beneath the surface of our world, and now the elders wanted answers. Answers I wasn't sure I could provide.I closed my eyes and sighed. I straightened my shoulders before I entered, though exhaustion pressed really hard against me, almost crushing my bones. It had been weeks since I’d had a full night’s sleep. Too many dreams haunted me. Dreams of shadows moving where light should live; dreams of laughter fading into screams. And dreams of Isla’s scent gone but no

  • THE ALPHA’S SILENT BRIDE   CHAPTER 131

Tarlyn’s POVThere’s a certain sound the wind makes when you know your time is up. It’s not the kind of wind that howls, it whispers, sneaks under doorways, and curls like cold fingers around your neck. That’s the sound I hear as I shove my last dress into the open suitcase. My hands are trembling. I’ve packed only what’s necessary, money, forged documents, a few clothes, and the piece of moonstone I always wore for protection. A gift from my mother. The last thing she gave me before life hardened her, and me with it.“I have to get out,” I whisper to myself. My voice sounds unfamiliar, hoarse, scared.Kane wasn’t supposed to play me. He wasn’t supposed to win. I was smart, I was careful. But somewhere between my ambition and his manipulation, I lost control of the narrative. And now, the palace walls feel like a trap instead of protection. The bag's zipper jams as I try to close it. Of course. Everything lately has fought back, even the little things. I yank it hard, too hard than I

CHAPTER 130IslaThe morning air hums with power, not the chaotic, uncontrollable kind I was once scared of but this is something different, something grounded, something whispering with hope and serenity, something that makes me feel alive, something that made my body, my soul and my mind burn fiercely but happily.I feel it in my chest, a soft thrum that echoes the rhythm of my heartbeat. For the first time in a long time, I’m not afraid of who’s inside me. I felt closer to it, I felt as it she was really a part of me, not just a being in me.I open my eyes slowly, blinking up at the rays of sunlight that filter through the trees above the remnants of the burned temple. My fingers curl into the damp grass beneath me as I sit up from the patch of ground I’ve fallen asleep on. Sayora sits a few feet away, watching me in silence, with a calm smile on her face.“You stayed out here all night,” she says softly.I nod. “I had to, I was searching for you when I found this place. Something

  • THE ALPHA’S SILENT BRIDE   CHAPTER 129

Tarlyn’s POV The call came before dawn. I had barely slept. The night felt restless. The air was still and charged, like the sky was holding its breath. When a soft knock sounded at my door, I already knew who it was. My chest felt tight as I got up and put on my cloak. The halls were dark, the candles reduced to shallow wax pools. I heard faint sounds of the pack waking. Boots thudded on wood, and a low hum of uneasy voices filled the air. Outside, the world lingered between night and morning. A pale silver light brushed over the mountains while mist clung to the ground, making every shape look unclear. The cold bit into my fingers as I stepped out, but I hardly felt it. Kane was waiting. He stood at the edge of the clearing, where the forest began. His figure was rigid, a dark shadow against the rising dawn. When he turned to me, his eyes held no warmth. The early light was sharp and cold as steel. “You’re late,” he said. His voice was quiet but carried weight that made me l
