LYDIA’S POV

Subconsciously, I heard a noise. It was a struggle to open my eyes, and it almost felt as though I was suffering from sleep paralysis. My fingers moved without me even trying, and it was the same with my toes.

“Did you see that? She just moved her finger,” a voice said faintly.

I felt movement on my body. It felt like I was being touched, but I couldn’t respond. It was more like I was stuck. The movement did not stop, nor did I stop hearing faint voices. The voices echoed sometimes.

“Lydia!” My eyes opened at the mention of my name.

I found myself lying on a bed in a luxurious room. There were werewolves all around me, and I couldn’t help but stare at their faces one after the other. The faces I stared at were all new, none was familiar.

How I got here, I had no idea. On the edge of the bed was a man who wasn’t smiling. It took me seconds of staring at him to realize that I knew him. I batted my eyelashes a few times just to be sure of who I was seeing.

“Alpha Dave,” I muttered the second our eyes locked.

“You all can go now. Tell the chef to prepare something light for her,” he said. Those words were for the unknown faces in the room.

I sat up because I just had to. I had questions for Alpha Dave. He happened to be the last werewolf I expected to see again. I could recall that I was sold by my foster parents, and then I was attacked while I was going with my new owners.

My hands landed on my stomach after I recalled that a sword was run through it. I expected to feel some kind of pain, but I didn’t. I looked at my stomach, but the cloth I had on did not allow me to see properly.

“Oh. About that, you healed yourself,” Alpha Dave mentioned. I was supposed to be dead, not alive.

When he said I healed myself, he did not look like he was kidding. If he spoke the truth, it meant that I had healing powers I did not know about. Alpha Dave was not one to play pranks, so it must be true.

First, my wolf emerged and I found out that I had a special wolf, and now I had just been told that I had healing powers. What more surprise did the Moon Goddess have for me? Or was this all?

I could not recall healing myself at any point in time, and only the Moon Goddess knew how long I had been unconscious in this room. I pulled up the top I had on and found out there was no scar on my stomach.

“Wait, you thought I lied about you healing yourself?” he inquired. I did not give him a response, not because I wanted to be rude, but because I had so much to say and was short of words at the same time.

“How did I get here?” I inquired after I gulped. He remained seated while he fixed his attention on me.

“You should not be asking your new owner that question. I paid in full to your parents, your foster parents, I mean. No real parent would sell their child to a stranger they know nothing about,” he muttered.

“New owner?”

“Yes, you are mine now. You became mine the moment my boys paid your parents,” he responded.

He claimed he bought me. It meant I was being brought to him on the day I was attacked by some group of men. I needed a proper story time on how it all happened, or curiosity might make me unconscious again.

“I know you have a lot of questions to ask me, but before you do, you have to have your bath and eat,” he remarked. He must have read my mind. I did not think it was a coincidence that he spoke about something I had on my mind.

“For how long have I been unconscious?”

“Three days,” he responded.

“I lost my men that were with you that day. You survived because you were able to heal yourself, but they could not,” he went on.

It was sad that they had to suffer such a cruel fate. I could have died just like them, but somehow, I was still there breathing. My foster parents would have been happy if that was the case.

“Was I attacked because I was with your men or was I the target?” I questioned.

“You were the target,” he said. I knew it.

Could it be that my foster parents were behind this? But if they wanted me dead, they could have killed me and not actually sold me like they did. I could not recall getting on anyone’s nerves, so why would anyone want me dead?

“Do you think my foster parents wanted me dead, but they sold me first because they needed the money?” I asked Aria, my wolf. She had not said a word to me ever since I came back to life, and I wondered why she had not gone into slumber.

Some wolves went into slumber after a life threatening incident and never woke up. I did not want to go back to being an Omega. I did not want that life for myself again. My wolf going into slumber would have literally made me an Omega.

“I will be waiting for you downstairs,” Alpha Dave interrupted my thoughts, bringing me back to reality.

“Someone wants me dead, do you know who?” Just as he was about to step out of the room, I inquired.

Since he was Alpha and had so many men, he ought to have figured out who wanted me dead and why. My eyes were on his lips. A huge part of me could not wait for him to mention the name of the culprit to me.

  • THE ALPHA’S SILENT MATE   CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

CHAPTER SEVENTEENLYDIA’S POVThe silence was long, but it wasn’t awkward. I didn’t like that this was my way of repaying the good he did to me, but I couldn’t jeopardize my future for him. I didn’t plan to spend the rest of my life here in his mansion and pack as his.Alpha Kendrick hurt me, and I didn’t know if I was healed. My plan was to have control over my wolf, take revenge on my foster parents and Alpha Kendrick, and then leave here to start a new life somewhere.I didn’t know Alpha Dave’s intentions for me. I couldn’t trust that he wouldn’t make me regret getting marked by him. It was said that men were scum, and the last time I checked, Alpha Dave was one.“I know the consequences that my actions will come with. I didn’t come here with anything, so I’ll be leaving with nothing. I did have plans to leave the mansion, but not elope like you assumed earlier,” I broke the silence. I saw the need to.“Can I know why you said no? It’s for closure,” he asked while I had my eyes eve

  • THE ALPHA’S SILENT MATE   CHAPTER SIXTEEN

LYDIA’S POVI took a step at a time while descending the stairs. I heard the honk of Alpha Dave’s car, and it was why I left my room. He didn’t spend the night in the mansion, and it did get me worried.Throughout the previous day, I didn’t set my eyes on him. I asked some guards about his whereabouts, and I was told he drove out suddenly. I tried calling him, but I found out he left his phone at home.“Lydia,” he muttered after he saw me. He acted like he saw a ghost, his actions could sometimes be funny and weird. He saw me in the hallway that led to the compound. If I had walked at a faster pace, I might have met him in the compound. I paused. I wanted him to get closer to me.Judging by his appearance, he was okay. I thought something bad had happened to him, but I was glad he was back. I didn’t think he should have left the mansion without telling anyone where he was headed.“I see you’re back,” he mentioned. He stood in front of me and was only a step away.“I haven’t been anywh

  • THE ALPHA’S SILENT MATE   CHAPTER FIFTEEN

KENDRICK’S POVI told Kendra to do all of these on her own, but she insisted on involving me in the process of everything. If she wanted company, she could have picked one of the domestic workers to do all of these with her.Her parents wanted something loud, something that would be the talk of packs, but it wasn’t the same with me. I tried to talk to Kendra, but she clearly was on her parents’ side. She wanted what they wanted.“What do you think about the colors?” Kendra inquired. She must have assumed that I had been listening to the conversation she was having with her stylist.Physically, I was here with her, but my mind wasn’t. I ought to be in my room taking a nap, but here I was in the living room with her and her stylist. I cleared my throat while I thought of the response to give her.“The first color is perfect,” I said. Kendra’s eyes were literally piercing my skin.“And what is the first color?” she inquired. She caught me.I didn’t know what the first color they spoke ab

  • THE ALPHA’S SILENT MATE   CHAPTER FOURTEEN

DAVE’S POVLydia doesn’t wake up very early in the morning, I knew that about her. She claimed she wasn’t a morning person, and I found that really funny. I might have to wait a little longer so I wouldn’t interrupt her sleep.I didn’t get any sleep all through the night, and it had to be because my mind was heavy. I kept thinking of the things that could be going through Lydia’s mind. I wondered if she would agree to do this with me.At some point, I wondered if I did the right thing by telling her that my fate lay in her hands. I might have sounded really desperate to her. My fate did lie in her hands, but maybe I shouldn’t have told her.“Don’t you have anything on your schedule for today?” my wolf asked.“Of course I do,” I replied.“Why not get to it instead of sitting around?”“I’m not sitting around. I’m not on my way to Lydia right now because I want her to get enough sleep. I’ll be on my way to her soon,” I said. He spoke as though I was being lazy and wanted to do nothing to

  • THE ALPHA’S SILENT MATE   CHAPTER THIRTEEN

LYDIA’S POV“After getting coronated as Alpha, I was supposed to find my mate and make her Luna. While we were in Alpha Damien’s pack, I told you that I had been in search of my mate for the longest but I could still wait a little longer.”“I don’t want to bore you so I’ll go straight to the point. I can’t mark any random lady and make her Luna afterwards. I can only mark my mate and make her Luna afterwards.”“You’re my mate and if there’s anyone that can keep me on the throne, it’s you.”Those were Alpha Dave’s words to me before he left my room. According to him, I was the only one who could help him. He helped me in the past and could it be that he was expecting me to return the favor? He helped me on the night I got rejected by Alpha Damien. He helped me train and that led to my wolf breaking out. Also, he helped me by buying me when my foster parents put me up for sale. Only the Moon Goddess knew who would have bought me if he did not.I forgot to add that he did not let Alpha D

  • THE ALPHA’S SILENT MATE   CHAPTER TWELVE

LYDIA’S POV“When you get dethroned, does that mean you’ll have to leave the mansion, and by extension, me also?” Curiosity made me ask Alpha Dave.I took time to process all that he had said to me, and I couldn’t help but ask him that question. I might have known the answer to the question, but I wanted to hear it from him. My wolf, Aria, said it was a silly question. My eyes were on him while he looked straight in front of him. After hearing all he had to say, I no longer blamed him for going to the club to drink. He cleared his throat, and it was a sign that he was about to give me a response.“Not only will I leave the mansion, I’ll be asked to leave the pack. I’ll be labeled a loser and a…”“That’s gross,” I chimed.Where were they expecting him to go from there? They seemed to have forgotten that he had sacrificed a lot for the pack already. According to him, he only had a few days left as Alpha.“You’ll be asked to leave with me also,” he cooed. I knew that already. The elders
