LYDIA’S POV

Subconsciously, I heard a noise. It was a struggle to open my eyes, and it almost felt as though I was suffering from sleep paralysis. My fingers moved without me even trying, and it was the same with my toes.

“Did you see that? She just moved her finger,” a voice said faintly.

I felt movement on my body. It felt like I was being touched, but I couldn’t respond. It was more like I was stuck. The movement did not stop, nor did I stop hearing faint voices. The voices echoed sometimes.

“Lydia!” My eyes opened at the mention of my name.

I found myself lying on a bed in a luxurious room. There were werewolves all around me, and I couldn’t help but stare at their faces one after the other. The faces I stared at were all new, none was familiar.

How I got here, I had no idea. On the edge of the bed was a man who wasn’t smiling. It took me seconds of staring at him to realize that I knew him. I batted my eyelashes a few times just to be sure of who I was seeing.

“Alpha Dave,” I muttered the second our eyes locked.

“You all can go now. Tell the chef to prepare something light for her,” he said. Those words were for the unknown faces in the room.

I sat up because I just had to. I had questions for Alpha Dave. He happened to be the last werewolf I expected to see again. I could recall that I was sold by my foster parents, and then I was attacked while I was going with my new owners.

My hands landed on my stomach after I recalled that a sword was run through it. I expected to feel some kind of pain, but I didn’t. I looked at my stomach, but the cloth I had on did not allow me to see properly.

“Oh. About that, you healed yourself,” Alpha Dave mentioned. I was supposed to be dead, not alive.

When he said I healed myself, he did not look like he was kidding. If he spoke the truth, it meant that I had healing powers I did not know about. Alpha Dave was not one to play pranks, so it must be true.

First, my wolf emerged and I found out that I had a special wolf, and now I had just been told that I had healing powers. What more surprise did the Moon Goddess have for me? Or was this all?

I could not recall healing myself at any point in time, and only the Moon Goddess knew how long I had been unconscious in this room. I pulled up the top I had on and found out there was no scar on my stomach.

“Wait, you thought I lied about you healing yourself?” he inquired. I did not give him a response, not because I wanted to be rude, but because I had so much to say and was short of words at the same time.

“How did I get here?” I inquired after I gulped. He remained seated while he fixed his attention on me.

“You should not be asking your new owner that question. I paid in full to your parents, your foster parents, I mean. No real parent would sell their child to a stranger they know nothing about,” he muttered.

“New owner?”

“Yes, you are mine now. You became mine the moment my boys paid your parents,” he responded.

He claimed he bought me. It meant I was being brought to him on the day I was attacked by some group of men. I needed a proper story time on how it all happened, or curiosity might make me unconscious again.

“I know you have a lot of questions to ask me, but before you do, you have to have your bath and eat,” he remarked. He must have read my mind. I did not think it was a coincidence that he spoke about something I had on my mind.

“For how long have I been unconscious?”

“Three days,” he responded.

“I lost my men that were with you that day. You survived because you were able to heal yourself, but they could not,” he went on.

It was sad that they had to suffer such a cruel fate. I could have died just like them, but somehow, I was still there breathing. My foster parents would have been happy if that was the case.

“Was I attacked because I was with your men or was I the target?” I questioned.

“You were the target,” he said. I knew it.

Could it be that my foster parents were behind this? But if they wanted me dead, they could have killed me and not actually sold me like they did. I could not recall getting on anyone’s nerves, so why would anyone want me dead?

“Do you think my foster parents wanted me dead, but they sold me first because they needed the money?” I asked Aria, my wolf. She had not said a word to me ever since I came back to life, and I wondered why she had not gone into slumber.

Some wolves went into slumber after a life threatening incident and never woke up. I did not want to go back to being an Omega. I did not want that life for myself again. My wolf going into slumber would have literally made me an Omega.

“I will be waiting for you downstairs,” Alpha Dave interrupted my thoughts, bringing me back to reality.

“Someone wants me dead, do you know who?” Just as he was about to step out of the room, I inquired.

Since he was Alpha and had so many men, he ought to have figured out who wanted me dead and why. My eyes were on his lips. A huge part of me could not wait for him to mention the name of the culprit to me.

LYDIA’S POV“Is this really necessary?” I asked Alpha Dave while panting. Left to me, I would give up right away.“Yes, it is,” he responded.Alpha Dave insisted that he teach me how to control my powers before attempting to heal his sister so I wouldn't accidentally murder her in the course of healing her. The contract came with a lot of rules. Before I signed the contract, I made sure some rules were canceled for my own benefit. I almost gave up on the contract, but his lawyer came down to my level. Alpha Dave wasn’t having it with me again by that time.“Stand to your feet,” he commanded. He proceeded to drop the sword in his hand. I could tell today would be a long day for me. I should have had breakfast before coming here even though he thinks breakfast should be had after training and not before.I told him that I would love to give in to my wolf, but he asked me not to. If he had allowed me, I wouldn’t be this exhausted. My wolf doesn’t feel pain while training, just like every

KENDRICK’S POVMy hands landed on her boobs and she winked at me almost immediately, that was a go-ahead from her. I clearly wasn’t okay with my hands just being on her perky boobs. I wanted more.Ever since we got mated, all we’ve been doing is having sex back to back. I wasn’t complaining, I’ve been enjoying every bit of it. Roman and I were in for an adventure and it must be the same with Kendra. She wasn’t fast with taking off her clothes so I stood up and helped her with it, I wanted my dick inside of her already. The feeling was amazing. Her hand caressed my balls and I liked that she didn’t leave them out, she started going fast with her mouth, and in some minutes from now, I might release

  • THE ALPHA’S SILENT MATE   CHAPTER TWENTY FOUR

DAVE’S POVI stepped in, and I wasn’t surprised to see Lydia in the living room with her eyes on the television screen. I made sure to return on time so I could keep her company for the night and also have her sign the papers.“Hi,” I said after I got close to her. It was my way of announcing my presence.“Welcome. You’re back early,” she mentioned after her eyes landed on me. She looked excited to see me, and that didn’t make me feel bad.“Yes.”“How was your meeting with the Elders?” she asked. I knew she would.“It went well. Those old men had something to say, as usual.”I didn’t want to bore her, so I spared her the details of what went down between the Elders and me. I put one of them in his place today, but I didn’t think it would interest her to know. She’d definitely get bored at some point. They were shocked to know that I wouldn’t be stepping down as Alpha anymore like they thought. I now had a mate, and a date for her coronation ceremony would be announced publicly tomorro

  • THE ALPHA’S SILENT MATE   CHAPTER TWENTY THREE

LYRA’S POV“You sent for me,” I announced my presence right after I stepped into the bar.“Yes I did.”I knew he would end up sending for me the moment he walked out of my room last night without telling me why he showed up in the first place. I sat right in front of him and he had better speak this time.“Bring wine for her,” he said in a loud tone. The bartender’s ears would definitely catch his words. He looked like he didn’t get enough sleep last night, and I kind of pitied him. He doesn’t deserve to go through everything he was going through at the moment, he’s a very kind and selfless werewolf. My silence must be killing me, but unfortunately for him, my wolf and I still haven’t agreed on something. If we don’t agree, I wouldn’t be able to break the silence by giving him a response.“Thank you,” I said to the bartender. He had just served me my favorite wine.“I didn’t tell you everything about the deal yesterday. I think I should now,” he began.I was interested in knowing ever

  • THE ALPHA’S SILENT MATE   CHAPTER TWENTY TWO

LYDIA’S POVThe words he said kept repeating in my head long after he stopped speaking. He went on to ask if I was in or not; it meant that he needed a response from me as soon as possible. His offer sounded simple after he said it, but nothing about it felt simple to me. I stared at him without speaking while my hands rested on my lap. I could feel my fingers slowly tightening into fists.Three years, that was what he was asking for. Three years as his mate, and after that, freedom. There was now a price to pay for my freedom, life had never given me anything without a price.I looked away from him and focused on the view outside the penthouse. • THE ALPHA’S SILENT MATE   CHAPTER TWENTY ONE

LYDIA’S POVWhat kind of werewolf is Alpha Dave? After I said no to him, he risked his life to come save me. He could have died in the process, but he still came to save me. We were this close to being sacrificed for the moon ritual. The moon turned completely red five seconds after we stepped in, and the memory of it still made my stomach twist. It was as though the moon was waiting for us to step in before going completely red.I stepped out of the room. I was headed to the dining area. He would be there by now. Who could have thought that I would spend the night here in his mansion?“Have you seen Alpha Dave this morning?” I asked the guard standing close to the bottom of the stairs. I was surprised Alpha Dave wasn’t in the dining area. I thought he would be.“He’s in the penthouse.”“Thank you,” I cooed.I found myself in the compound, and I took a peep at the penthouse. The guard didn’t lie. I didn’t have a speech prepared. I would thank him the best way I could. I was trusting t
