Se connecterCHAPTER FOUR
LYDIA’S POV
“Lydia!” Coach Dave screamed at the top of his voice. My fists remained slightly clenched and I just pretended as though I didn’t hear him scream my name.
I increased the pace at which I motioned down the hallway that lead to the principal’s office, my attention was needed there. My wolf thinks the best thing to do is have a word with Coach Dave.
“This is all your fault” I told Aria. Ever since I shifted in the woods while fighting the rogues, everyone in the academy has been running away from me.
“I like that I now have you but I just don’t like that you chase other wolf away with your aura, now they think I’m a witch or something” I mumbled,
“Maybe you’re a witch” She howled. That was definitely to make me laugh.
“Why have you been distant?” Coach Dave showed up in front of me. He still caught up with me despite how fast I motioned.
“The sooner we talk about this, the better” I hadn’t given a response to his question when he said. I had a feeling things were about to get awkward between us.
“Fine” I mumbled. I was sure to avoid his eyes.
“I’m sure you know that…”
“I didn’t ask the moon goddess for a second chance mate. I don’t know when I’ll be ready or if I will ever be ready to bear your mark” I saved him the stress of speaking too many words.
“You can take all the time you need. I’ve been in search of my mate for so long but I can still wait a little longer” His response. He said he could wait a little longer, meaning he wasn’t willing to wait for too long or forever, I got that.
“All of this is happening too soon. What happens if he turns out to be like Alpha Kendrick?” I asked Aria who had no response for me.
I could still recall how shocked I was when I found out in the woods while fighting the rogues that he was my second chance mate. A second chance mate, something so rare most wolves would die hoping for.
“Thank you once again. We were able to defeat the rogues were with your wolf’s help” He broke the awkward silence.
“Why aren’t you scared of her?” Curiosity made me ask. He sticks around while others run when I shift.
“I know her more than you do. I could teach you everything you need to know about her and all you have to do is stay back after training everyday” He responded. Aria still feels like a stranger to me and Coach Dave had better teach me more about her and her weird aura.
“Okay. I’m in” I muttered.
“I don’t think I should tell you this but a part of me wants too. Alpha Kendrick has been making moves underground so I stand a chance of losing my job” Coach Dave mentioned.
“Alpha Kendrick is so unbelievable” I blurted. I didn’t see this coming so I didn’t know how best to react, it was glaring he wanted Coach Dave out of the academy for his selfish interest.
It was all thanks to Coach Dave that I became a warrior even when I didn’t have a wolf. He believed in me when everybody didn’t and also trained me on how to use the sword.
I decided to fight the rogues in my human form when they attacked the academy just because I wanted to make him proud. I ended up pushing myself beyond limits in the process and I shifted.
“Getting another job might not be so easy. Is there something I can do?” I questioned and wondered why his countenance hadn’t changed, he didn’t look like he was sad.
“I don’t plan on getting another job. Over the years, I’ve trained so many soldiers that can stand up for the pack so I’m willing to relocate fully to my pack” He lectured.
“You never told me you don’t belong here. What else are you hiding from me?” I shook my head gently while I spoke. I didn’t forget the principal sent for me.
“In my defense you never asked, I’m a citizen of the moonlight’s pack. It might also interest you to know that I’m also the Alpha” He mentioned.
“My biological parents are from Moonlight pack. My foster parents were nice enough to tell me a little about my parents and my background, they made it known to me that I belong to the Moonlight’s pack by birth” I told him excitedly.
“To be dismissed, I have to be given three months notice. It’s safe to say I would still be around for three months and I think we should make the best out of that time” He uttered. I was just about to ask him if he was serious about being Alpha when he did.
“Did you speak the truth when you said you are the Alpha of…”
“The principal” He chimed. His finger pointed in the direction of his office and I had better head there right away.
“Lydia’s wolf is weird. She has to leave the pack or her wolf would be suppressed using magic” My ears caught those words after I stepped into the Principal’s office, my foster parents and the elders of the pack were also on seat.
“She will make a decision and will get back to you” My foster mother said and rose to her feet. She gripped my wrist and dragged me out of the principal’s office.
I couldn’t comprehend what was happening nor have I had the time to process the words my ears caught in the Principal’s office. Two hefty men showed up suddenly.
“Here she is but I haven’t received the balance” She said to them,
“What is going on?” Curiosity made me ask. I had been handed over some papers by one of them.
Words got stuck in my throat. The papers were signed and sealed by my foster parents, the ones who were supposed to protect me treated me like an item.
“Say bye to this pack” Her voice reached me while I was being rough handled. My whole world came crashing down already and I couldn’t help being numb.
I was forced into the car and my hands and legs were tied. Shifting to attack them wasn’t an option, I might get shot before I complete the shifting process and I would be gone forever. It’s been minutes into the journey and the car still remained quiet. I kept my head down and my heart didn’t stop racing, every bump on the road made matters worse.
The two men in the front didn’t speak to each other or to me and the suspense was killing me. The thought of what would become of me soon also didn’t let me be.
“Who the hell?” One of the men inquired after the car jerked violently.
I raised my head and found a figure standing right in front of the car. Every instinct in my body screamed danger, I could feel it.
“Stay in the car” The driver warned and got down from the car, alongside his colleague.
A knock was placed on the window beside me but no one was there. The door opened suddenly and a hand grabbed me and before I could scream, I felt a sharp pain, it was hot and burning.
My hands were covered in blood, mine and it was spilling out of me too fast. My heart had become heavy and it was hard to breathe, a sword had been ran through my stomach.
“No…no…I can’t…” I groaned.
“Not…like…this”
“This…can’t…be…the…end”
It eventually became hard to stop my eyes from closing.
CHAPTER SEVENTEENLYDIA’S POVThe silence was long, but it wasn’t awkward. I didn’t like that this was my way of repaying the good he did to me, but I couldn’t jeopardize my future for him. I didn’t plan to spend the rest of my life here in his mansion and pack as his.Alpha Kendrick hurt me, and I didn’t know if I was healed. My plan was to have control over my wolf, take revenge on my foster parents and Alpha Kendrick, and then leave here to start a new life somewhere.I didn’t know Alpha Dave’s intentions for me. I couldn’t trust that he wouldn’t make me regret getting marked by him. It was said that men were scum, and the last time I checked, Alpha Dave was one.“I know the consequences that my actions will come with. I didn’t come here with anything, so I’ll be leaving with nothing. I did have plans to leave the mansion, but not elope like you assumed earlier,” I broke the silence. I saw the need to.“Can I know why you said no? It’s for closure,” he asked while I had my eyes eve
LYDIA’S POVI took a step at a time while descending the stairs. I heard the honk of Alpha Dave’s car, and it was why I left my room. He didn’t spend the night in the mansion, and it did get me worried.Throughout the previous day, I didn’t set my eyes on him. I asked some guards about his whereabouts, and I was told he drove out suddenly. I tried calling him, but I found out he left his phone at home.“Lydia,” he muttered after he saw me. He acted like he saw a ghost, his actions could sometimes be funny and weird. He saw me in the hallway that led to the compound. If I had walked at a faster pace, I might have met him in the compound. I paused. I wanted him to get closer to me.Judging by his appearance, he was okay. I thought something bad had happened to him, but I was glad he was back. I didn’t think he should have left the mansion without telling anyone where he was headed.“I see you’re back,” he mentioned. He stood in front of me and was only a step away.“I haven’t been anywh
KENDRICK’S POVI told Kendra to do all of these on her own, but she insisted on involving me in the process of everything. If she wanted company, she could have picked one of the domestic workers to do all of these with her.Her parents wanted something loud, something that would be the talk of packs, but it wasn’t the same with me. I tried to talk to Kendra, but she clearly was on her parents’ side. She wanted what they wanted.“What do you think about the colors?” Kendra inquired. She must have assumed that I had been listening to the conversation she was having with her stylist.Physically, I was here with her, but my mind wasn’t. I ought to be in my room taking a nap, but here I was in the living room with her and her stylist. I cleared my throat while I thought of the response to give her.“The first color is perfect,” I said. Kendra’s eyes were literally piercing my skin.“And what is the first color?” she inquired. She caught me.I didn’t know what the first color they spoke ab
DAVE’S POVLydia doesn’t wake up very early in the morning, I knew that about her. She claimed she wasn’t a morning person, and I found that really funny. I might have to wait a little longer so I wouldn’t interrupt her sleep.I didn’t get any sleep all through the night, and it had to be because my mind was heavy. I kept thinking of the things that could be going through Lydia’s mind. I wondered if she would agree to do this with me.At some point, I wondered if I did the right thing by telling her that my fate lay in her hands. I might have sounded really desperate to her. My fate did lie in her hands, but maybe I shouldn’t have told her.“Don’t you have anything on your schedule for today?” my wolf asked.“Of course I do,” I replied.“Why not get to it instead of sitting around?”“I’m not sitting around. I’m not on my way to Lydia right now because I want her to get enough sleep. I’ll be on my way to her soon,” I said. He spoke as though I was being lazy and wanted to do nothing to
LYDIA’S POV“After getting coronated as Alpha, I was supposed to find my mate and make her Luna. While we were in Alpha Damien’s pack, I told you that I had been in search of my mate for the longest but I could still wait a little longer.”“I don’t want to bore you so I’ll go straight to the point. I can’t mark any random lady and make her Luna afterwards. I can only mark my mate and make her Luna afterwards.”“You’re my mate and if there’s anyone that can keep me on the throne, it’s you.”Those were Alpha Dave’s words to me before he left my room. According to him, I was the only one who could help him. He helped me in the past and could it be that he was expecting me to return the favor? He helped me on the night I got rejected by Alpha Damien. He helped me train and that led to my wolf breaking out. Also, he helped me by buying me when my foster parents put me up for sale. Only the Moon Goddess knew who would have bought me if he did not.I forgot to add that he did not let Alpha D
LYDIA’S POV“When you get dethroned, does that mean you’ll have to leave the mansion, and by extension, me also?” Curiosity made me ask Alpha Dave.I took time to process all that he had said to me, and I couldn’t help but ask him that question. I might have known the answer to the question, but I wanted to hear it from him. My wolf, Aria, said it was a silly question. My eyes were on him while he looked straight in front of him. After hearing all he had to say, I no longer blamed him for going to the club to drink. He cleared his throat, and it was a sign that he was about to give me a response.“Not only will I leave the mansion, I’ll be asked to leave the pack. I’ll be labeled a loser and a…”“That’s gross,” I chimed.Where were they expecting him to go from there? They seemed to have forgotten that he had sacrificed a lot for the pack already. According to him, he only had a few days left as Alpha.“You’ll be asked to leave with me also,” he cooed. I knew that already. The elders
