Se connecterCHAPTER THREE
KENDRICK’S POV
I gripped the hilt of my sword tighter and I planned to use it on a rogue’s sword. The sounds of swords clashing filled the air while my nostrils were filled with the smell of blood.
“Y’all made a huge mistake by attacking the academy simply because you aren’t allowed to school here. My colleagues and I would prove to y’all that we aren’t to be messed with!” I announced.
“Too slow” I mumbled under my breath. One just came at me.
I stepped back and rolled my wrist to adjust my grip. My steel met his flesh and I couldn’t help but roar in laughter, another of then was gone and in no time, they would all be dead.
The remaining of them could be counted unlike some hours ago. I took a deep breath knowing we conquered them already and as Alpha, I couldn’t be more proud.
“You shouldn’t have done this little one” Another had just charged at me when I wasn’t expecting. The blade of my sword caught his legs and it made him hit the ground hard, then I drove the tip of my sword through his chest.
“This isn’t the end!” One of them announced before a colleague of mine chopped his head off.
Noon was here and suddenly an uproar began. I looked all around and found more trooping in from every corner and they made noises while they ran in our direction.
“Shit!”
The majority of my colleagues were exhausted, I could tell by the look on their faces. I didn’t see them coming back bigger in less than an hour, I had assumed it would take them years or even months.
Three launched at me at once and I began fighting for my life and the fate of the pack as well as the academy. These set seemed stronger than the previous ones.
“An Omega on the battlefield” My words after I caught a sight of Lydia, the one the moon goddess choose for me by mistake.
“I didn’t settle for less and it was the right thing to do” I blurted. It was to stop the words she said to me on the day I rejected her from echoing in my head again.
“A sword? Really?” I muttered after seeing her pick up a sword. I was done with the one that launched at me when another four launched at me.
“This can’t be” I batted my eyelashes while speaking. Lydia was doing a perfect job with the sword and I still couldn’t believe my eyes, perhaps it the same Lydia I know.
In less than five minutes, I had taken down close to fifteen of them. I aimed only for their arteries and tendons so it made getting rid of them much easier.
I remained on a spot and watched Lydia. She kept on fighting like a trained and experienced warrior in her human form and within the space of a few minutes, she got rid of many.
“Now I know what she has been up to” I mumbled. It’s been months since I rejected her and since then, she’s been in the shadows, barely noticeable in the academy.
“I knew it. She’s an Omega and will always be. They have eventually gotten a hold of her and now she’s on her knees” I jibed.
“There’s little to what she can do in her human form, regardless of how hard she trains. She ought to have stayed back and allow those with wolf fight this battle” I spat.
A sword was placed close to her neck by a rogue and was quite unfortunate that she would die trying to protect the academy, it might be worth it for her actually.
“You will regret this!” I yelled at the one that had just clawed me, how dare he!
My ears caught a very loud and distinct howl and it caught everyone’s attention, the rogues included. The howl shook trees that I took a pause and fixated my eyes in the direction it came from.
“This had better not be what I think it is” I cooed. The wolf in question had glowing eyes, unusual fur and a rare aura that made other wolves terrified.
“It’s a she-wolf” I muttered after taking a closer look but I couldn’t comprehend why she was on also on her knees like Lydia was about a minute ago.
“The wolf is larger than an Omega’s wolf. The last time I checked, she doesn’t have a wolf and even if she now has, she can’t be this powerful” I hummed.
I searched all around for Lydia with my eyes while I remained on a spot but I couldn’t find her. The unusual wolf looked in my direction and our eyes looked,
“Wh…at?!” I stuttered. The wolf belongs to Lydia!
The rogues continued to tremble at the sound of her howl and just like that, they surrendered one after the other. My fellow warriors were also terrified at the sound of her howl.
“She now has a wolf. When and how did it happen?” Kendra inquired. Her voice announced her presence.
“No wolf has ever radiated this kind of power” I muttered without looking at her face. Perhaps it wasn’t her first time shifting.
“She’s not an Omega! She’s a beast!” Kendra uttered but Lydia’s howl didn’t make her voice echo.
“Why is Coach Dave standing next to her? Isn’t he terrified of her?” I asked Lydia. She ought to have answers since they live under the same roof.
“I have a feeling they have something going on between them. He lifted her off the ground and took her somewhere the night you rejected her and tore the mate bond, they’ve also been spending so much time together” Kendra explained.
“Hi Alpha Kendrick” Lydia showed up in front of me suddenly. I could tell she would love to have a taste of my blood so badly with the way she stared at me. She didn’t take long before vanishing into thin air.
“You see that man standing next to her, I need more information about him” I told Kendra.
“I did a little digging. He’s Alpha of the moonlight pack” Kendra mentioned,
“Did you say Alpha?” I questioned and raised an eyebrow in the process.
“I was shocked as well, who could have thought?” She cooed. They were staring into each other’s eyes at the moment and it got me livid for some reason.
Coach Dave who was known to be a coach for extracurricular activities in the academy turned out to be the Alpha of another pack! I would have argued if it wasn’t Kendra that told me.
“Is he the source of her strength? Did he mark her already? Are they both on a mission? Do they have a common target?” My questions for Kendra.
CHAPTER SEVENTEENLYDIA’S POVThe silence was long, but it wasn’t awkward. I didn’t like that this was my way of repaying the good he did to me, but I couldn’t jeopardize my future for him. I didn’t plan to spend the rest of my life here in his mansion and pack as his.Alpha Kendrick hurt me, and I didn’t know if I was healed. My plan was to have control over my wolf, take revenge on my foster parents and Alpha Kendrick, and then leave here to start a new life somewhere.I didn’t know Alpha Dave’s intentions for me. I couldn’t trust that he wouldn’t make me regret getting marked by him. It was said that men were scum, and the last time I checked, Alpha Dave was one.“I know the consequences that my actions will come with. I didn’t come here with anything, so I’ll be leaving with nothing. I did have plans to leave the mansion, but not elope like you assumed earlier,” I broke the silence. I saw the need to.“Can I know why you said no? It’s for closure,” he asked while I had my eyes eve
LYDIA’S POVI took a step at a time while descending the stairs. I heard the honk of Alpha Dave’s car, and it was why I left my room. He didn’t spend the night in the mansion, and it did get me worried.Throughout the previous day, I didn’t set my eyes on him. I asked some guards about his whereabouts, and I was told he drove out suddenly. I tried calling him, but I found out he left his phone at home.“Lydia,” he muttered after he saw me. He acted like he saw a ghost, his actions could sometimes be funny and weird. He saw me in the hallway that led to the compound. If I had walked at a faster pace, I might have met him in the compound. I paused. I wanted him to get closer to me.Judging by his appearance, he was okay. I thought something bad had happened to him, but I was glad he was back. I didn’t think he should have left the mansion without telling anyone where he was headed.“I see you’re back,” he mentioned. He stood in front of me and was only a step away.“I haven’t been anywh
KENDRICK’S POVI told Kendra to do all of these on her own, but she insisted on involving me in the process of everything. If she wanted company, she could have picked one of the domestic workers to do all of these with her.Her parents wanted something loud, something that would be the talk of packs, but it wasn’t the same with me. I tried to talk to Kendra, but she clearly was on her parents’ side. She wanted what they wanted.“What do you think about the colors?” Kendra inquired. She must have assumed that I had been listening to the conversation she was having with her stylist.Physically, I was here with her, but my mind wasn’t. I ought to be in my room taking a nap, but here I was in the living room with her and her stylist. I cleared my throat while I thought of the response to give her.“The first color is perfect,” I said. Kendra’s eyes were literally piercing my skin.“And what is the first color?” she inquired. She caught me.I didn’t know what the first color they spoke ab
DAVE’S POVLydia doesn’t wake up very early in the morning, I knew that about her. She claimed she wasn’t a morning person, and I found that really funny. I might have to wait a little longer so I wouldn’t interrupt her sleep.I didn’t get any sleep all through the night, and it had to be because my mind was heavy. I kept thinking of the things that could be going through Lydia’s mind. I wondered if she would agree to do this with me.At some point, I wondered if I did the right thing by telling her that my fate lay in her hands. I might have sounded really desperate to her. My fate did lie in her hands, but maybe I shouldn’t have told her.“Don’t you have anything on your schedule for today?” my wolf asked.“Of course I do,” I replied.“Why not get to it instead of sitting around?”“I’m not sitting around. I’m not on my way to Lydia right now because I want her to get enough sleep. I’ll be on my way to her soon,” I said. He spoke as though I was being lazy and wanted to do nothing to
LYDIA’S POV“After getting coronated as Alpha, I was supposed to find my mate and make her Luna. While we were in Alpha Damien’s pack, I told you that I had been in search of my mate for the longest but I could still wait a little longer.”“I don’t want to bore you so I’ll go straight to the point. I can’t mark any random lady and make her Luna afterwards. I can only mark my mate and make her Luna afterwards.”“You’re my mate and if there’s anyone that can keep me on the throne, it’s you.”Those were Alpha Dave’s words to me before he left my room. According to him, I was the only one who could help him. He helped me in the past and could it be that he was expecting me to return the favor? He helped me on the night I got rejected by Alpha Damien. He helped me train and that led to my wolf breaking out. Also, he helped me by buying me when my foster parents put me up for sale. Only the Moon Goddess knew who would have bought me if he did not.I forgot to add that he did not let Alpha D
LYDIA’S POV“When you get dethroned, does that mean you’ll have to leave the mansion, and by extension, me also?” Curiosity made me ask Alpha Dave.I took time to process all that he had said to me, and I couldn’t help but ask him that question. I might have known the answer to the question, but I wanted to hear it from him. My wolf, Aria, said it was a silly question. My eyes were on him while he looked straight in front of him. After hearing all he had to say, I no longer blamed him for going to the club to drink. He cleared his throat, and it was a sign that he was about to give me a response.“Not only will I leave the mansion, I’ll be asked to leave the pack. I’ll be labeled a loser and a…”“That’s gross,” I chimed.Where were they expecting him to go from there? They seemed to have forgotten that he had sacrificed a lot for the pack already. According to him, he only had a few days left as Alpha.“You’ll be asked to leave with me also,” he cooed. I knew that already. The elders
