For the first time in my life, my eyes were filled with tears.

As seconds turned into minutes her words began to sink in slowly.

"I wasn't your father's actual mate and he knew that. Because of the curse, he couldn't find his true mate, and that frustrated him a lot. He was growing old and the curse was getting worse, it was driving him insane day by day and sadly he couldn't do a thing to stop it. Besides that, he was weighed down with another worry, and that was to produce an heir to his pack." She said then took a step closer.

"You see, your father knew it was a matter of time before he would fall and leave his pack without a ruler, perhaps in the hands of his enemies. He had to have an heir from any she-wolf capable of respecting him and raising his pups well, that's where I came in. He never loved nor gave me his attention.
