We made it five blocks before the car exploded.

Not ours. The one in front of us. A Viper prospect's vehicle erupted in flames, metal and glass raining down on the street. Albert swerved hard, narrowly missing the debris.

"Everyone out!" he shouted. "Now!"

We dove from the car as bullets shattered the windows. I hit the pavement hard, rolling behind a concrete barrier. Albert was beside me instantly, gun drawn, scanning for shooters.

"Rooftops!" Knox's voice came through the radio. "Multiple snipers! Three, maybe four!"

"Where the hell is our security?" Albert demanded.

"Dead." Hammer's voice, grim. "Someone hit them first. Professional job. We are compromised."

I pressed against the barrier, feeling bullets chip away the concrete inches from my head. My hand instinctively went to my stomach. The baby. I was pregnant and trapped in a firefight.

"Eva, stay down!" Albert fired toward a rooftop. "Do not move until I clear a path!"

"Where are we going?"

"Anywhere but here!" He grabbed my

  • THE BIKER'S NEW FOUND MATE    CHAPTER 20 - Six Months of Peace

Six months passed without anyone trying to kill us.I did not trust it.My belly swelled with life while I waited for the other shoe to drop. Every unknown car made me reach for a weapon. Every strange phone call sent my heart racing. But nothing happened. The clubs rebuilt. Albert proved to be a better president than anyone expected—fair but firm, strategic but honorable. The Reapers under Hammer's leadership found stability. The alliance held. And I tried to pretend I was not terrified every single day."You are doing it again," Sienna said, watching me check the locks on the clubhouse doors for the third time that hour."Doing what?""Waiting for disaster. Eva, it has been six months. Maybe it is actually over.""Nothing is ever over. Not in this world." I turned from the door. "Victoria is out there somewhere. Planning. Waiting.""Or she is living her life and letting us live ours." Sienna grabbed my hand. "You cannot spend your whole pregnancy in fear. It is not healthy for you o

  • THE BIKER'S NEW FOUND MATE    CHAPTER 18 - The Pregnancy Test

I threw up for the third morning in a row.Sienna held my hair back in the clubhouse bathroom, her expression somewhere between concern and knowing amusement."You need to tell him," she said."Tell him what? That I have got food poisoning? The flu? General exhaustion from being shot at constantly?""Eva. You are three weeks late. You have been nauseous every morning. And you keep crying at random things." She handed me a towel. "Take the test.""What test?"She pulled a pregnancy test from her jacket. "This test. The one I bought yesterday when you threw up after smelling coffee."My hands shook as I took it. "This is not possible. We have been careful—""Careful is not foolproof. Especially when you are living in constant danger and stress does weird things to birth control." Sienna pushed me toward the stall. "Take it. Now. Before I make you."Five minutes later, I stared at two pink lines.Pregnant.I was pregnant with Albert Morrison's child."Eva?" Sienna knocked. "What does it

  • THE BIKER'S NEW FOUND MATE    CHAPTER 17 - Chicago Burns

Chicago smelled like diesel and old money. We arrived at midnight with twelve Vipers, eight Reapers, and a plan that was either brilliant or suicidal. Knox had called in every favor owed to both clubs. Hammer had contacted his Chicago connections. Albert had mapped out Diane's known operations—three restaurants, two shipping companies, and a luxury hotel downtown. We were going to hit all of them in one night."Remember, we are not here to kill civilians," Albert said as we geared up in the warehouse we had rented. "We hit her businesses, destroy her infrastructure, send a message. But we do this clean.""Define clean," one of the Vipers said."Nobody dies who is not actively trying to kill us first.""That is surprisingly ethical for a man nicknamed Ghost.""My wife is a good influence." Albert looked at me. "You are staying in the van with Knox. Coordinating communications. Not fighting.""We talked about this—""And I told you I need you safe. This is not negotiable, Eva.""Actuall

We finally had our wedding at dawn.No elaborate ceremony. No hundreds of witnesses. Just Knox officiating in the backyard of the new Steel Vipers clubhouse, with Sienna and Hammer as witnesses. I wore jeans and a leather jacket. Albert wore his cut over bandages still healing from multiple assassination attempts. It was perfect."Do you, Eva Cross, take this man as your husband? To stand with him in blood and chrome, in violence and peace, until death claims you both?" Knox asked.I looked at Albert. Gray eyes that had seen me at my worst and my best. Hands that had killed to protect me. A man who gave me freedom when he could have demanded obedience."I do.""And do you, Albert Morrison, take this woman as your wife? To protect her, honor her, and never cage her, until death claims you both?""I do." Albert slid a ring onto my finger. Simple silver band with our initials engraved inside."Then by the power vested in me by absolutely nobody official, I pronounce you husband and wife.

  • THE BIKER'S NEW FOUND MATE    CHAPTER 15 - Thirty Days of Silence

California smelled like salt air and possibilities.I rented a small apartment in San Diego, three blocks from the beach, paid for with money Albert had transferred to my account. Blood money, club money, money earned through violence and loyalty to a world I was trying to leave behind. But it bought me windows that faced the ocean and mornings without gunfire. That had to count for something.Thirty days passed in a blur of silence. No explosions. No threats. No family drama or club politics or people trying to kill me. Just waves and seagulls and the strange emptiness of safety.I got a job at a youth center, working with kids who reminded me too much of Tommy. Lost and angry and looking for belonging in all the wrong places. I told myself I could save them. That I could be the person nobody was for me.But every night I came home alone and thought about Albert. His gray eyes. His possessive touch. The way he said my name like it was something sacred instead of just a word.I had no
