The transport never arrived.

One hour after my call to Torres, Rebecca's phone exploded with notifications. Not messages. Emergency alerts. News feeds. Video streams from twenty-three cities simultaneously.

"Thunder Bay Riders in Minnesota. Raided thirty minutes ago."

"Black Canyon MC in Colorado. Forty-seven arrests."

"Pacific Nomads in California. Federal agents with military support."

Antonio pulled up a map. Red markers appeared across the country. Each one a club being raided. Each one growing by the minute.

"Fifty-three clubs in the last hour. All simultaneous operations. All federal charges identical to ours." He looked at me. "Your surrender did not stop anything. It accelerated everything."

My phone rang. Torres.

"What the hell did you do?" Her voice was sharp. Furious. "I authorized your transport. Agreed to your conditions. Then every biker club in North America got flagged for immediate federal action. My superiors are saying you were buying time. Saying your surrender was

Twenty minutes into my explanation, Rebecca's phone started buzzing. Then Antonio's. Then Victoria's. Then everyone's simultaneously."What the hell—" Rebecca checked her screen. Her face went pale. "The Iron Wolves just got raided. Phoenix chapter. Forty members arrested. Federal charges identical to ours."Antonio's phone showed the same. "Desert Saints in Nevada. Thirty-two arrests. Same charges."Victoria pulled up news feeds. "It is everywhere. Simultaneous raids across seventeen states. Every major independent club. All being arrested for weapons trafficking, narcotics distribution, money laundering."Subject Seven moved to the window. "This is not coincidence. This is coordinated elimination. The boy is using federal law enforcement to dismantle every organization that could provide resistance.""Why bikers specifically?" Rebecca demanded. "Why target clubs?""Because you are organized. Mobile. Independent of government oversight. You have communication networks that bypass sta

The restraints fell away. Quantum suppression lifted. I could phase-shift again but barely. The facility's defenses were still partially active."Armory is two corridors east," Torres said, handing us security badges. "You have authorization to access non-lethal deterrents only. Lethal force requires—"An explosion rocked the facility. Closer this time. The lights flickered."Forget protocols," Torres muttered, pulling her weapon. "Just stop whoever is breaking in before they reach the containment cells."Subject Seven and I ran toward the breach. Through corridors filled with smoke and emergency lighting. Federal agents were pinned down by attackers who moved with inhuman coordination. Dr. Chen's modified subjects. The eleven she had supposedly saved. All working to extract X-One, X-Two, and X-Three.But as we got closer, I realized something was wrong. The attackers were not trying very hard. They were making noise. Creating chaos. Drawing all security attention to the containment b

We were six hours into our twenty-four hour head start when federal agents surrounded us in a Portland parking garage. Not local police. Not standard law enforcement. FBI tactical units with quantum detection equipment. Military contractors with technology that should not exist in civilian hands. And leading them—"Eva Morrison," Agent Sarah Torres said, stepping forward with weapon drawn. "Subject Seven. You are both under arrest for domestic terrorism, multiple homicides, and conspiracy to deploy biological weapons."I raised my hands slowly. Subject Seven did the same."We did not deploy anything—""Three thousand casualties at seventeen facilities across North America. All traced to quantum network interference originating from your consciousness patterns. The evidence is comprehensive." Torres gestured and agents moved in with specialized restraints. "You have the right to remain silent—""We were trying to stop it. The boy, the real X, he was deploying mass consciousness modific

I woke up screaming. Not in the chair. Not in quantum space. On cold concrete in a room I did not recognize. Subject Seven was beside me, also gasping. Both of us ejected from the network violently."What happened?" I managed between ragged breaths."He deployed both patterns simultaneously." Subject Seven clutched his head. "Modified and natural. Overlapping. Conflicting. Creating quantum interference that crashed the entire network. Three thousand subjects received contradictory instructions. Their consciousness tried to integrate two incompatible protocols at once.""Are they—""Alive. Barely. Fragmenting. Dissolving. Screaming across seventeen facilities." Subject Seven pulled himself upright. "The boy made a mistake. His first real miscalculation. He thought he could merge control with trust. Thought he could have both certainty and democracy. Instead he created chaos that is killing everyone connected to the network."Alarms screamed through the facility. Red emergency lighting

"No."The word echoed through quantum space with finality that stopped everything."What?" Dr. Chen's consciousness recoiled. "David, you have to understand—""I understand perfectly. You want me to choose death. Choose dissolution. Choose to end myself because living with conscience is impossible after everything I have done." The boy's voice hardened. "But I calculated this scenario. Calculated the probability you would build failsafe. Calculated that Eva's emotional chaos would create opening for this exact conversation. I have been three steps ahead the entire time."The quantum network shifted. Changed. Became hostile."You think I invited Eva into my consciousness accidentally? Think I miscalculated integration depth? Think I allowed Subject Seven to connect without anticipating consequences?" The boy laughed through probability itself. "I needed you to believe you had won. Needed you to believe emotional attachment created unpredictable variables. Needed you distracted while I
