Eva Monroe's Point Of View

The hallway outside the courtroom buzzed like a disturbed hive—reporters, murmurs, and flashing camera lights.

But inside that courtroom, everything had frozen.

Lily’s confession still hung in the air.

“I… I did it,” she sobbed. “Harper told me to switch the documents.”

The judge leaned forward, voice stern and sharp.

“Nurse Lily, are you admitting to falsifying medical documents and perjury?”

Lily nodded, trembling. “Y-yes, Your Honor.”

“Bailiff.”

A uniformed officer stepped forward.

“No—wait!” Lily panicked, backing up. “Harper, please—say something!”

Harper didn’t move. She didn’t even look at her—eyes fixed ahead, expression carved from ice.

She just stared ahead—face blank, eyes glassed over—like the world had finally caught up to her sins.

Her voice was ice.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Lily’s eyes widened. “You told me to switch the files!”

Harper leaned back, cool and composed.

“Do you have proof of that? Because I don’t recall asking

  • THE BILLIONAIRE LAST LIE    Chapter 33: The Weight of Silence

"Eva's Point Of View"Morning light seeped through the curtains, soft and cold. I sat at the vanity, combing my hair slowly, letting the strands slide through my fingers while I tried to convince myself that the emptiness in the room didn’t matter. Every object whispered his absence: the half-empty coffee cup, the smooth, untouched side of the bed, and the faint scent of him lingering in the air.I thought I could sit in this quiet, let it pass, and pretend I was unbothered. But the longer I stayed, the heavier the silence grew, pressing into my chest. I wanted to tell myself I didn’t notice, I didn’t care. But I did. I noticed everything, and it hurt more than I was willing to admit. Then came the laughter—sharp, high-pitched, deliberately careless. Harper. And not just her, but the sound of her friends somewhere in the sitting room, giggling like they had something cruel and deliciously petty to share.I froze, hands still on my hair, the comb paused mid-strand. My stomach twisted.

  • THE BILLIONAIRE LAST LIE    Chapter 32: The Distance Between Us

"Cassian's Point Of View"Morning came, but warmth didn’t.I woke to silence—thick, cold, and stretched across the bed like a third body between us. Eva was no longer lying beside me. The blankets on her side were already smooth, untouched for hours. She’d gotten up long before me.Typical.I pushed myself up with a sigh and ran a hand through my hair. The memory of last night lingered like smoke—her turning away from me, her voice sharp, tired, done.I’d earned it.Didn’t make it any easier to breathe.I stood and headed toward the bathroom. Not to talk.Just… to see.The door was half-open.Eva sat at her vanity, back straight, sunlight catching on her hair like gold threads. She combed through the strands slowly, gently, almost tenderly. And she was singing.Softly.Light.Unbothered.A voice so sweet it could soften steel—yet she didn’t even know I was standing there. Her reflection never looked up.Not once.No good morning. No acknowledgment. No hint that she even cared whether

  • THE BILLIONAIRE LAST LIE    Chapter 31: Being Adamant

" Eva’s Point Of View"I lay on the farthest edge of the mattress, as if distance alone could protect me from everything I didn’t want to feel. The room was dim, and the thin glow slipping through the curtains only made the silence heavier. I had been pretending to sleep for almost an hour, but my body wouldn’t obey. Every word from earlier kept replaying in my head, sharp and relentless. The door clicked. He was here.Cassian.I didn’t turn. Didn’t move. If I stayed still enough, maybe he would leave me alone. The tension entered the room before he did.He stood there for what felt like forever. I could feel his eyes on my back, heavy and searching. I hated that I could feel him even without looking.“Eva… we need to talk.”His voice was low—strained. Broken somewhere I didn’t want to look.I stayed silent.“I’m tired,” I whispered, keeping my tone flat, as emotionless as I could manage. “I don’t want to talk.”A slow exhale. Frustrated. Controlled.“You’re not sleeping.”“Still not

  • THE BILLIONAIRE LAST LIE    Chapter 30: The Weight Of What Was Lost

"Eva,'s Point Of View"The old building smelled like dust and memories.A smell I had almost forgotten—old wooden floors, detergent, burnt toast from the neighbor down the hall.I hadn’t been here since I married Cassian.Months.Yet the moment I stepped in, it all rushed back at me like a wave. The peeling wallpaper. The wobbly coffee table I and Liam fixed with a book under one leg.The small window where I used to sit and watch the night buses go by, dreaming of a life where Liam didn’t hurt every time he breathed. When Liam opened the door and saw me, his warm smile immediately vanished.“Eva? Why do you look like you haven’t slept in days?”I tried to smile, but it cracked right down the middle.Liam’s expression hardened with worry. He pulled me inside. “Come. Sit. Talk to me.”I sank onto the faded couch, the same one where I and Liam once celebrated his test results being stable. The same couch where I cried the night their father died.Liam sat beside me, watching me close

  • THE BILLIONAIRE LAST LIE    Chapter 29: What cannot be fixed

"Eva's Point Of view"orning light filled the Vale mansion’s wide kitchen, warm and soft—but the house still felt strangely cold.I stood at the counter, slicing strawberries for my breakfast bowl. My movements were steady, almost automatic. Cassian stood a few feet away, leaning on the doorway like he didn’t know if I ’d let him get closer.“Eva,” he said quietly.I didn’t look up.He cleared his throat and tried again. “Eva… can we talk?”I rinsed my hands under the tap, still facing the sink. “I’m trying to get things done. I’m already running late.”“You’re avoiding me.”“I’m busy,” I corrected, my voice flat. That simple reply hit him harder than shouting ever would have.He stepped forward. “I know I messed up. I know I didn’t protect you the way I should have. I’m… I’m sorry. I’m trying to fix it.”My hands paused over the towel. my shoulders tightened.“Fix it?” I repeated softly. “Cassian… you can’t fix what you allow to happen.”He swallowed. “If you just let me explain—
