LIANA

NOELLE'S POV

The silence in my apartment felt heavier than usual that evening.

I sat on my couch with my legs tucked under me, a half-eaten bowl of pasta growing cold on the coffee table. The TV was on, but I wasn’t watching it. My mind kept replaying the penthouse visit. Roman’s apology, the slow, deep kiss, the way he had looked at me like I was the only thing anchoring him to earth.

And then my own words: “I can’t. Not yet.”

I had walked away from him again.

I rubbed my temples, trying

THE VISITROMAN'S POVThe penthouse was too quiet tonight.I stood on the terrace with a glass of whiskey in my hand, staring at the city lights below. The black roses I had sent Noelle were still fresh in my mind, her soft thank-you text, the way she had climbed into my lap yesterday like she belonged there. For a few precious hours, everything had felt right. Sweet. Hopeful. Then reality crept back in.My phone buzzed on the table behind me. I already knew who it was before I looked.Sylvia: I’m downstairs. We need to talk. Alone.I exhaled slowly. Of course she would come now after Derek ran to her crying about the fight, after the family dinner where I had finally spoken my truth. She never came when I needed her as a child. But when Derek was hurting? She appeared like a guardian angel.“Send her up,” I told the doorman.I poured another drink and waited. When the elevator doors opened, Sylvia Ashford stepped out looking every bit the elegant matriarch , cream silk blouse, tailo

FATHER'S BIRTHDAYNOELLE'S POVThe drive to my father’s house always felt like stepping into a different lifetime.I left the bustling city behind as the highway gradually gave way to quieter suburban roads lined with old oak trees and familiar houses I had passed a thousand times before. It was Dad’s 65th birthday, and I had promised him a quiet evening. just the two of us, no work stress, no Roman drama, no Derek poison. Just family. Just us.I needed this tonight more than I wanted to admit. The past few weeks had been a whirlwind of emotions. The intense pull toward Roman, the fear planted by Derek about Liana, the slow sweet nights that made me question everything, and the constant tug-of-war between my heart and my head. I needed my father’s steady, grounding presence. The one person who had never let me down.I pulled into the driveway of the modest two-story house I grew up in. The same white fence Mom painted every spring. The same flowerbeds she used to tend with so much lo

CALM STORMROMAN'S POVMorning light filtered softly through the floor-to-ceiling windows of my penthouse bedroom, casting a warm golden glow across Noelle’s bare skin. I woke up before her, lying on my side with one arm draped possessively over her waist. She was curled into me like she belonged there, completely naked, her warm brown skin pressed against mine. Her natural curls were spread across the pillow in a wild halo, and the sheet had slipped down to her hips, revealing the perfect curve of her breast and the gentle rise and fall of her breathing. She looked peaceful. Content.Last night had been everything I had been craving. Slow, deep, and achingly intimate. I had made love to her like time didn’t exist, like I could stay buried inside her forever. Now, in the quiet morning light, the reality of having her in my arms again settled over me like a warm, addictive drug.I should have felt happy. I should have felt complete.Instead, fear clawed at my chest like a living thing.

SWEET DREAMS NOELLE'S POVThe rest of Monday passed in a warm, hazy blur. After leaving Roman’s office with swollen lips and a racing heart, I spent the afternoon floating through my tasks. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw him. The way he had looked up at me while I rode him, the soft smile on his face when I kissed his temple, the quiet promise in his voice when he said he wanted to earn me.I was falling.Hard.And for the first time in weeks, I wasn’t fighting it.By 6 p.m., I was back in his office. This time, I didn’t knock. I walked in, locked the door behind me, and climbed straight into his lap again like it was the most natural thing in the world.Roman welcomed me with a low groan, hands immediately sliding under my skirt to grip my thighs.“You’re going to ruin my productivity,” he murmured against my lips before kissing me deeply.“Good,” I whispered back, smiling into the kiss. “You’ve been too focused lately.”We stayed like that for almost an hour — me straddling him

HAPPY FOR NOWNOELLE'S POVMonday morning felt different.I stood in front of the mirror in my bedroom, adjusting the blue blouse I had chosen, one that hugged my curves just enough to feel confident without being obvious. My pencil skirt was a deep navy, and I had left my hair down in loose waves. I wasn’t dressing for work today. I was dressing for him. After brunch with Bria yesterday, after Derek’s poisonous words tried to ruin everything again, I made a decision while lying in bed last night staring at the black roses on my counter.I wasn’t going to bring up Liana. Not yet.Not today.I was tired of letting fear and doubt control me. For once, I wanted to enjoy the moment. I wanted to let myself feel what I felt for Roman without overanalyzing every shadow in his past. The way he looked at me, the way he touched me, the way he had tried to earn me with those roses. It was real. And I was choosing to believe in it, at least for today.I wanted to be lovey-dovey. I wanted to be so

ICE AND SPICENOELLE'S POVThe brunch spot Bria chose was one of our favorites. A cozy rooftop café with string lights, fresh flowers on every table, and the best avocado toast in the city. Sunlight poured over us as we sat at a corner table overlooking the street below. It should have felt relaxing. Instead, I felt like I was carrying the weight of the last few weeks on my shoulders.Bria took one look at me as I sat down and raised an eyebrow. “You look like you got fucked good and then spent the rest of the night overthinking it.”I let out a tired laugh and dropped my bag on the empty chair. “That obvious?”“Extremely.” She pushed a mimosa toward me. “Drink first. Talk second. Then we’ll dissect every single detail.”I took a long sip, letting the bubbles settle my nerves. Milo was safely at Bria’s apartment, and for the first time in days, I felt like I could breathe a little. But my mind was still spinning from last night. Roman waking me up with kisses, the slow, sweet way I ha
