Chapter One

Elena’s Pov

“How dare you… Elena, you betrayed me!” Lucas shouted, his fist clenched in anger. In one swift move, he threw the DNA results at me, and they landed at my feet.

“Lucas… I would never hurt you. I don’t understand…” I stammered, feeling confused. The twins were his. I had never cheated on him. And why did he do a DNA test in the first place? Lucas had never doubted me.

“Stop lying!” Isabella’s voice cut through the silence, full of anger. “We all knew you saw him as an opportunity. But we only played along because he liked you… and now, you’ve been exposed.”

Flashes from cameras filled the room, blinding me as they captured every moment. This was supposed to be our fourth wedding anniversary, a celebration of love. Lucas had insisted on making it big, inviting the press, dignitaries, and so many people. But now, it was turning into a scandal that would be talked about for days. The whispers of the crowd grew louder.

I tried to stay calm, looking into Lucas’s eyes. He looked devastated. He was my first love, my first everything. I had never been with anyone else. I couldn’t believe this was happening.

“Lucas… the twins are yours. I would never—”

“Don’t play innocent!” he snapped, his voice full of anger. “It’s a good thing I had the DNA test done before giving you the family estate as an anniversary gift.”

Matilda’s voice was cold, full of hate. “You fooled him. You fooled all of us.”

I could tell Lucas’s mother never liked me, but seeing the way she smirked now made my heart break. His sister Isabella’s face was twisted in disgust. She couldn’t hide her judgment.

“Those bastards aren’t mine. I’ll never accept them…” Lucas said, his voice cold.

I felt like I had been slapped. How could he say that? How could Lucas, the man I loved, call our children bastards? How could he say that to me, the woman he promised to love forever? We were high school sweethearts, and despite the resistance from his family, he had insisted that we get married. We did. We were the perfect couple.

I shook my head, desperate. Tears blurred my vision. “Lucas, please… there must be a mistake. I swear… I haven’t—”

Before I could finish, he pushed me away, his anger rising like a wave. I stumbled back, humiliated. The cameras flashed again, capturing the moment. The people around us pulled out their phones to take pictures. This was no longer a celebration; it was turning into a public scandal. My life would be all over the tabloids tomorrow.

“You’re just a cheap slut, and I regret the day I ever married you…” Lucas muttered, his voice full of pain. My heart felt like it was shattering. I didn’t care about the cameras. I didn’t care about the flashing lights. All that mattered to me was Lucas—the man I loved, the man I trusted.

“Please, let’s do the DNA test again… I…” I begged, my voice cracking. “I swear, I would never do this to you…”

“So you can just change the results?” Isabella sneered. “Or maybe sleep with the doctor, like the slut you are…”

“You’re a fool if you think we’ll believe that,” Matilda said, her voice harsh. “Lucas, what are you still waiting for? Kick her out.”

I looked at Lucas, hoping for some sign of doubt, some small sign that he still cared. I did see it, but it was brief. It barely lasted for three seconds. Suddenly, his eyes turned cold, distant. He turned away, giving the order.

His men stepped forward, grabbing me with no care. It was clear they didn’t care about me anymore. He called the security at the mansion and told them to throw my things out.

“And you’ll leave with nothing. Just the fancy clothes you’re lucky my son bought for you,” Matilda said coldly. “Go sell yourself to the men outside. Maybe one of them will take pity on you and give you a home…”

“Get those bastards out of my house now!” Lucas shouted. My twins—our twins—were with their nanny at the mansion. I couldn’t stop thinking about them. What would they think when they saw all of this? Would they ever understand when they grew older?

The whispers around me grew louder. I could hear them, each one sharp and cruel.

“How could she…?”

“I knew something was off about her…”

“Such an ingrate…”

I heard it all, and it hurt. But none of it mattered anymore. Lucas and his family stood there, watching me, waiting for me to leave. They didn’t care. They didn’t care about me or what they were doing.

I felt like trash—discarded, unloved. Their eyes were filled with judgment.

“What are you waiting for? Off you go, traitor…” Isabella’s voice was filled with mockery. She seemed to enjoy my pain.

Despite the humiliation, I rushed to Lucas and pleaded one last time, hoping that the man I fell in love with was still there somehow. The man who had promised to love and protect me and my twins. We had signed a pact at the beach on our wedding night. Lucas had taken me to the Maldives, and we promised to be together forever. Looking into his eyes, I begged.

“Lucas, please… You remember our promise… You remember what you told me… Lucas, let’s repeat the DNA… I don’t know where you got that from. Something is wrong…”

“You broke the promise, Elena… You caused this…” He shouted.

“Lucas…”

“Get out… you will get the divorce papers tomorrow…” He shouted, his tone final.

Isabella and Matilda chuckled, their satisfaction very evident. It was obvious they had waited for this day. They were like predators, lurking at the corner to jump at me at the slightest slip. And they had finally won.

“Can’t you hear him… get out, you slut…” Matilda said.

I took a deep breath, wiping away my tears. I wouldn’t let them see me fall apart. I wouldn’t give them that satisfaction.

“I’ll never forgive you for this, Lucas… And I’ll make sure you never see the twins again,” I said, my voice shaking but strong as I turned to leave. The weight of their eyes felt like a thousand pounds on my shoulders, but I wouldn’t let them crush me.

As I walked out, my heart burning with shame, I clenched my fists. A part of me wished Lucas would run after me, tell me it was all a mistake, a misunderstanding. Maybe he would want to redo the DNA test. But he didn’t.

One day, Lucas, you will regret this. And when that day comes, I’ll be ready.
