5. THE WEDDING TWIST

The sound of wedding bells echoed faintly through the cathedral, their rhythm steady, indifferent - as if they had no idea how wrong this ceremony truly was.

Mira stood before the grand mirror in a dressing suite larger than her entire apartment, her reflection covered in white. The silk gown hugged her frame perfectly, the lace delicate and foreign against her skin. She had been in a daze since she signed the contract - or maybe since Ethan's words that day:

"You wanted her to lose everything. This is how it happens."

And now, here she was, about to destroy her sister's perfect world.

Her palms were cold. Her throat, tight.

She didn't feel like a bride. She felt like a ghost.

The door opened behind her. Ethan stepped in, dressed in black, elegant as ever, but with that same cold calm that never cracked. He didn't look at her immediately. Instead, he adjusted his cufflinks, his reflection meeting hers in the mirror.

"You're shaking" he said quietly.

She forced a weak smile. "I didn't think revenge came with heels this high."

Ethan's lips twitched- the closest thing to amusement she'd seen on him.

"You can still walk away," he said.

Mira turned to face him fully. "Would you?"

His eyes met hers. "No."

"Then neither will I."

For a moment, the air between them softened - not warm, not friendly, but charged. Two people bound by pain, about to step into something that would change them both forever.

He moved closer, straightening the edge of her veil with careful hands. "Remember," he murmured, "no one can know until it's done."

"I know," she whispered. "But what happens after?"

Ethan paused, then said quietly, "We cross that bridge when we get to it."

Mira's chest tightened. She wanted to ask how, but there wasn't time.

A knock at the door interrupted them.

"Sir," his assistant called softly, "it's time."

Ethan gave her one last look- steady, unreadable, then he left the room.

In another dressing room down the hall, all hell broke loose.

Liana Bennet's scream tore through the air, high and sharp enough to make the attendants flinch.

"What do you mean the ceremony already started?!" she demanded, throwing her perfume bottle against the mirror. It shattered against the floor.

"The guests have already been seated, Miss," one of the coordinators stammered. "The bride and groom—"

"I am the bride!" Liana snapped. "So who—who is out there?"

No one answered. They didn't need to.

Her stomach dropped as the church organ began to play.

Somewhere outside that door, her wedding was happening. Without her.

Back inside the cathedral, hundreds of guests rose as the bride entered. The hush that fell over the hall was reverent - all eyes fixed on the woman in white walking slowly toward the altar.

Mira's veil hid her face, but her every step echoed like a heartbeat.

She could feel the weight of the room pressing down on her - reporters, politicians, executives, all believing they were about to witness the most perfect union of the year.

No one knew the truth.

Not that she was the wrong bride.

Not that beneath the silk and diamonds was a woman burning with heartbreak.

When she reached Ethan, he didn't offer his hand immediately. But when he did, it was firm, steady- like an anchor in a storm she'd started herself.

The priest began to speak.

Vows. Promises. Lies wrapped in sacred words.

Mira barely heard them. Her mind swirled with flashes- Adrian's betrayal, her mother's cold voice, Liana's laughter. Every pain, every humiliation, every tear that led her here.

And now... silence.

"Do you, Ethan Kim, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?" the priest asked.

Ethan's voice was calm, controlled. "I do."

The priest turned. "And do you-"

"I do," Mira said before he could finish. Her voice didn't waver.

Somewhere in the crowd, a murmur began - faint, confused. Someone whispered that the bride's voice sounded different.

But the priest continued.

"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife."

The applause thundered through the cathedral. Flashing cameras. Soft music. The perfect ending to a perfect illusion.

Ethan turned toward her. Slowly, deliberately, he lifted the veil.

Gasps filled the hall.

It wasn't Liana Bennet smiling back.

Mira's face emerged from behind the lace- pale, composed, but unmistakably her.

The room froze.

Murmurs spread like wildfire. "That's not Liana-" "Who is she?" "What's happening?"

At the far end of the aisle, Liana burst through the doors, screaming, "That's my wedding! What have you done?!"

The cameras swung toward her, capturing every furious step.

Ethan's arm slipped around Mira's waist, possessive, steady. "Security," he said coolly. "Escort the unwanted guest out."

"You bastard!" Liana shrieked. "You think you can replace me with her?"

Ethan turned his gaze on her, calm and cutting. "Replace?" His lips curved into a razor-thin smile. "No. I corrected a mistake."

Chaos erupted in the wedding hall, reporters typing away, guests gasping, flashes blinding- but through it all, Ethan never let go of Mira's hand.

She stood frozen beside him, heart pounding. The weight of what they had done began to sink in.

She wasn't invisible anymore. She wasn't the forgotten daughter or the betrayed lover.

She was Mrs. Kim- the woman her sister could never be.

And yet... it didn't feel like victory.

When they stepped outside to face the swarm of photographers, Mira's vision blurred. The wind caught her veil, lifting it like a banner of war. Ethan's hand remained firm in hers, guiding her down the steps, cameras flashing like lightning all around them.

As the reporters shouted questions, Ethan leaned in close enough for only her to hear.

"Breathe," he whispered.

"I can't," she whispered back. "It feels wrong."

"It's supposed to," he said. "Revenge always does."

His words cut through her, sharp and cold - but his hand didn't leave hers.

That night, the headlines exploded across every media platform.

THE REAL BRIDE: BILLIONAIRE ETHAN KIM MARRIES MYSTERY WOMAN!

BENNET FAMILY SILENT AS WEDDING DRAMA UNFOLDS!

WHO IS THE NEW MRS. KIM?

Mira sat in the back of the limousine, her wedding dress still pristine, her heart anything but. The car hummed softly, city lights flashing by like memories she couldn't escape.

Ethan sat beside her, silent, his profile carved in shadow. The ring on her finger glinted every time the lights passed.

She wanted to speak - to ask him what happened now, what came next - but she couldn't form the words. Everything felt too surreal.

Finally, Ethan broke the silence. "You did well."

Mira let out a shaky breath. "You make it sound like a performance."

He turned to her, his expression unreadable. "It was... a brilliant one."

Their eyes met-  for the first time as husband and wife.

No love. No tenderness. Just an unspoken truth between two strangers bound by vengeance.

And yet, beneath the silence, something shifted.

A spark neither of them wanted, but neither could deny.

As the car pulled into the mansion gates, Mira's phone buzzed with a message.

From her mother.

"You really think he'll ever love you the way he loved her?"

Her chest tightened. She turned toward the man beside her - Ethan Kim, her husband.

He looked out the window, unaware of her breaking heart.

And somewhere deep down, Mira realized this wasn't revenge anymore.

It was the beginning of something far more dangerous.

Mira turned in bed, hugging her belly tightly. She strongly disliked Ethan Kim.... she really did! But right now she really needed food. She had been so concerned about their plan failing at the wedding that she hadn't eaten anything all day."F*ck it". She muttered under her breath and slid her legs into her slippers.Mira slowly walked down the stairs, careful not to make any sound. She couldn't help the gasp that escaped her lips. The beauty of Ethan Kim's home still caught her off-guard, the chandelier glittered like diamonds scattered across the ceiling.Mira stopped in her tracks, the dining table was long enough to hold a political summit. At the head sat Ethan Kim, perfectly composed, perfectly cold, perfectly..... irritating. He had no plate before him but instead he had a tablet in his hands, which he lazily scrolled on."You are late". Ethan said without looking up.Mira blinked, searching for the right words."Were you waiting for me?". Ethan finally looked at her, like th

Its glass walls reflected the late afternoon's sun like mirrors, making it look almost unreal. A fountain gushed silently in front, sending delicate ripples across a crystal-clear pool.Mira swallowed hard. This...is Ethan's world.Ethan stepped out first, keeping his hands in his pockets, his expression completely unreadable. "Come on", he said sparing her just a glance. His tone was flat, almost dismissive.Mira quietly followed, feeling the weight of the house pressing down on her. The automatic doors parted as they approached, revealing an entrance hall so grand it made Mira's heart skip a beat. A sweeping staircase curved upward, the railings made of polished glass that gleamed under soft golden lights. Ma
