CHAPTER 4

Shannon nodded her head, the word was stucked in her throat, his presence was really affecting her so badly.

   "Yes Sir!" She managed to croak out..

  " Then, I would leave you with a deal!" Shannon heard his response as cold as ever.

 She was surprised at herself that she'd was still having the courage to talk to him.

  Shannon face lighten immediately, hope flickered brightly in her eyes as she heard the deal, she already determine that whatsoever the deal was, she was in, she needed money desperately for Dennis upkeep and as a single mother, it was extremely weighing her down.

  " I'm in for the deal!" She responded immediately.

  Ryan could hear the tone of determination in her voice, he have other plans, "You would quit working from here, I would ensure you get sacked, that's your punishment" He smirked.

  With her face bowed, Shannon didn't have to think twice, she was going to be offered twenty dollars immediately he signed, so what's the big deal in quitting the work.

  She thought for a while, " Yes, I fully agree" she said after a long stretch silence.

Ryan smirked, he knew she would willingly agree to it, they must've paid her highly to convince him , but he have his other plans.

  "I would come back for you!" He stated, somehow Shannon could tell that he meant his word.

   They walked away from the room before Shannon could find her voice, she trailed behind them and headed back to the board room.

    Immediately she saw Amelia, she watched as Amelia struggled to suppress the smile in her voice, "Get me the papers!" 

 Amelia scurried immediately, presenting the paper to her. 

Shannon couldn't stop Wondering who the Man was that he'd just state something without anyone altering or saying a word, he came into the board meeting like it was his own, walked out a commanded a staff, Who was he to possess such power? Shannon couldn't just stop wondering.

   She watched as he scribble down his signature on the papers, " Congratulations!" One of the other dark suited guy announced as he stretched the contract back to Amelia.

   "Thanks for considering our deal Mr. Lancaster!" Amelia smiled winking at Shannon.

   "Remember our deal!" Even though his eyes was not directed to her, Shannon knew that he was referring to her.

    "Yes sir!" Shannon replied, bowing her head.

    Everyone stood up to their feet as he walked out of the board room.

 Immediately he left, Amelia quickly stood to her feet, hugging her. "You did it, thank you so much, the CEO is going to be proud of you!" 

 The rest of the board members came hugging her, each welcoming her on her success.

 Shannon stood alongside with Amelia until the room was left less occupied, aside from the both of them.

  "Congratulations, you've gotten the Job, Mr. Lancaster is such a huge nut to crack, getting him to sign that contract is such a huge win for us and you brought us that success, you would be....."

  Amelia was still talking when Shannon cuts him off " The twenty thousand dollars offer is still available right?" She asked, she needed to be sure.

  "Of course yes, I would forward to your account immediately"

  "Okay, I'd like for it to be transferred" Shannon gave a fake smile.

  "Sure, I would add first e thousand additional for the inconveniences" She added.

  "You can start work right away, the money is sent already!" Amelia announced.

 Shannon phone beeped, glancing at her phone , it was the alert ,  Shannon was excited, now she can spill the news.

  "I'm sorry, in order to get him to sign with us, I made a bargain to quit working here, My apologies, I did it for money!" Shannon announced, she watched as her face fell immediately.

 "My apologies" she muttered again.

  "It's fine actually, I'm only worried about you!" 

 "There is nothing to worry about, I would be fine" Shannon smiled lightly reassuring her.

  After Shannon bade Amelia goodbye, she could barely believed that she'd had just gotten a job and had just lost it in few hours, it was unbelievable, well, she had a whopping sum of twenty five thousand dollars and an incoming payment of eighty thousand dollars for a buy-Out of her service, what more could she ask of, this was way too much.

  As she walked on the road, she decided to branch a shopping mall and get Dennis his shoes, the sport shoe he had cried earlier of.

 She went inside and started shopping for some randomly stuffs she'd be needing like his provisions and beverages, she went to the shoe section after she was done with selecting the beverages.

 She heard some voices which had her attention, as she pushed her trolley along, she felt it bumping past something. Wheeling it away from there, she assumed it to be one of the goods that must have mistakenly fell, she turned to pick it up, but her eyes turned to meet something familiar.

  " A CCTV camera? What was it doing on the floor?" She thought.

  Her eyes darted to where the voices was coming from, she paid rapt attention as she listened to them, she heard a female voice, she'd was talking to someone, Shannon was sure, but not a one was said from that person.

 Somehow, Shannon could recognize that voice, it took minutes before it registered in her brain, How could she almost forgot the popular Carrie Tyler, a very popular actress. Infact, she was her role model.

  "What was Carrie Tyler doing in a supermart alone without a body guard?" Shannon thought as she tiptoed to where she could hear the voices.

 From the angle where she was approaching from, the female face came in full view, Shannon assumption was actually true as her eyes came in view with her role model for the first time. This was her time to ask for an autograph, but something was amiss.

The famous Carrie Tyler had tears dripping down on her face, she'd was begging someone, Shannon couldn't miss this moment, aside from her other Jobs, she was a blogger, she ran a blog of her which wasn't that famous. But to have a hit story about a popular actress, that would for sure fuel her blog.

  "She immediately brought out her phone as she started making a video of the whole scene, from her angle only Carrie's face was in view, the male she was talking too can't be seen.

  "Please, just give me a last chance, I promise I wouldn't mess it up!" She could hear that her actress begging.

  A pause, " I gave you a chance when I decided to date you, but you choose to abide by my grandfather's order, you can choose to date him instead" She heard that mockery in that voice, she could recognize that voice too. But, she doubted her assumption, she knew it can't be.

  "Please, just one more time" Shannon wondered who the guy was that had a while popular figure like Carrie begging on her knees just for another chance, for a beautiful actress like Carrie, men would die just to have her as a partner, but there she was begging for just attention. Who was this man?

  "Don't you dare touch me , we both know I don't repeat a word twice. Now, Scram before I change my mind!" The cold voice spoke with so much hatred in his voice.

 Shannon watched as her role model scampered away in her tears, She sighed, she wouldn't blame her anyone in her shoes would do same. The voices alone was affecting from where she stood not to talk of standing his sight.

   "Come out!" Shannon suddenly heard, she turned around if there was someone he was referring to come out, her heart beat loudly when she found no one. It can't be her, she was hiding safely, so there was no way that the guy must have seen her.

  "Don't let me repeat myself!" The voice was more strict than before.

 Shannon suddenly developed cold feet, her hands were sweaty, Run, her instinct told her and without thinking twice, Shannon started crawling, as she got to the end of the shoe segment, she made to take her right.

  Shannon screamed out immediately she turned to take her right, there he stood, his hands stuffed in his pocket, his eyes fixed on her.
