chapter 7: the treaty

Logan’s pov

“I can’t believe this; you want to make peace with those vampires” my older brother Justice said coming in our father’s office without even knocking.

“yes I don’t want to, but it needs to be done” my father replied, and Justice scoffed.

“I cant believe this, the Vampire King killed mom and yet you want peace? We should be declaring war” he replied.

Dad looked at me as if asking for my help.

“war is not the answer at the moment, and father thought about this very well and this is the best option” I told him.

He looked at me and scoffed.

“of course you would say that you are a coward who fears war” he answered and left the room.

My dad shook his head, and we went about what we were doing when before he even came to disturb us.

I was looking into something that was happening which I found to be weird.

the witches have been looking for something, but we don’t know what.

We know that for years now they have formed groups and seem to be hunting something or someone.

but we don’t know who.

As for me I am still looking for my mate.

I cant believe that even after 8 years I still can’t find her.

I do get some few traces of where she was but then the trail goes cold.

Its like she is trying everything and anything in her power not to be found.

its almost as if she is running away from something.

I could see that Dad couldn’t concentrate anymore after my brother’s stunt.

Justice has always been cold and distant but ever since mom died its like he is a different person.

I think her death hurt him more that it hurt us.

maybe its because he regrets that the last thing he said to her was those terrible words.

“he will come around father, we both know that it is the right decision.

Sebastian Thorne is a force to be reckoned with and we cant fight someone like that with the numbers we have” I said, and he nodded.

I could see that this decision wasn’t an easy one to make for him.

I mean he needs to make peace with a person who killed his wife so he can save his people.

Sebastian Thorne is powerful and honestly he scares me

; he is so cold and heartless that if we ever crossed him he would wipe out our entire species.

He now has the numbers and means to do that.

vampires have been increasing rapidly.

dad said that its almost as if he is preparing for war which is why he asked to have a peace treaty between the two species.

“he will be here tonight; I trust that you will try to talk some sense to your brother” he said, and I nodded.

I know that Justice won’t listen to me, but I have my own ways of making him do things even if he doesn’t want to them.

I just need to make him see that we need this treaty.

we need the protection that Sebastian can provide, and we also don’t want someone like him as an enemy.

I got up and followed Justice’s scent.

I don’t know if it’s the Alpha in him, but my brother tends to like doing things his way.

he is stubborn and often likes or wants to take things by force.

he doesn’t mind war and as for me I do my best to avoid any conflict.

Maybe that is why he called me a coward.

because I would rather we talk things through than speak with our fist because then we call for another conflict.

What happens when one of us loses?

We both know that some people are sore losers, and they can’t gracefully accept defeat.

So, I would rather not fight and talk things over than escalate things with war.

and usually in war we lose a lot more than one would by making peace.

People on both sides always die and if we do go to war with Sebastian then werewolves with seize to exist.

Unlike vampires we are reproduced like actual humans and as we get lesser and lesser with time because of wars, cross breeding, and sicknesses.

Vampires are just humans who wanted immortality so they get turned into vampires.

and when you think about it who wouldn’t want to be one.

They can live forever;

you have all the time in the world to gain wisdom that people can’t even begin to fathom, and they are also rich.

With all that time and money, you can travel anywhere in the world and do anything and everything you have always wanted to do.

I found him at the pack grounds training as always or more like taking out his anger on one of our poor warriors.

“one word from you then I swear I will kill you; you are just like our father; you don’t have a backbone at all. That’s why you are fit to lead our people” he said.

he threw another punch that the poor warrior didn’t dodge on time.

I didn’t say anything, and he stopped and looked at me irritated.

“aren’t you going to say something to try and make me understand?” he asked in a condescending tone, and I just shrugged.

“what’s the point brother?

you are the one who wants to be Alpha King.

I wonder who will be your subjects when you finally get that seat because everyone will be dead by then.

Look around you.

even with all the other packs helping we don’t stand a chance against him, but you want war?

Then okay brother, I will stand besides you and we will fight together if that is what you want” I said and started walking away.

“you really are annoying do you know that?

fine then I will let this treaty happen but that’s because I don’t want to see the blood of my people shed for nothing. But I do have a question, can you even trust your new treaty buddy??” he asked me.

I looked at him and I couldn’t even answer that question, can we really trust Sebastian Thorne? The heartless Vampire King??
