Asher's Pov

I'd woken up to the sound of my name.

“Asher? Asher, can you hear me?” The voice was smooth and soft and was the only thing I wanted to hear at that moment.

I peeked through my lashes and met his face — golden hair, ocean-blue eyes and soft pink lips. It was my Caden. But when I blinked, it was gone. It wasn't him.

Lia put her hand to my cheek. “I'm glad you're awake. You suddenly collapsed and I was scared.”

My eyes trailed to the beeping heart rate monitor and the IV drip in my veins. I shouldn't be in a hospital right now.

I reached for it but she stopped me. “Don't do that. You're still weak.”

“Get your hands off me.” I swatted her arm away and pulled the needles off me. I needed to get to him.

“Asher, where are you going?!” Lia yelled behind me.

I grabbed my jacket from the back of the couch and sighed. “I'm going to Caden. He needs me.”

“What about me? Don't you think I need you? And mom … we're your family.” she sniffled.

“No, you're not,” I turned to meet her gaz
