Online Interview

Chapter 3

Bennett stood at the glass wall of his office, watching the City.

His eyes peered through as if looking for someone in the streets of New York.

"Mr. Stone... It's time for the Meeting with the Designing Department." Ryan said as he walked into his office.

"And they're ready?" He asked, not moving an inch.

"Yes." Came the answer, from the guy that was already jotting down things.

Bennett nodded, as he turned around and grabbed his Suit Jacket.

He put it on and looked up with those alluring eyes.

"Let's Go." He ordered, and they two left the office.

••

"Good morning Sir, welcome back." The whole Designing Department greeted, them as he stepped in.

He nodded and took a seat.

"What is the problem?" He asked, looking around.

"Uhm Sir, for the new product that was launched just last week, we need a Model." The Department Leader said quickly.

Bennett scoffed... As he watched the man as if he had grown heads.

"If you need a Model, get one. I hope this does not call for another meeting." He said strictly as he stood up and walked out the door.

They needed a Model. How was that his business? Should he look for the Model?

They had many Models in New York.

Brione Shar, Rosaline Barr, And so on...

It wasn't even Important.

It was a project that had already been launched, not a project that was going to be launched.

He hissed and turned to Ryan.

"Before you schedule anything for me, Ryan, ask for the reason." He glared at the Guy.

"Okay, Boss." Ryan nodded, as he mouthed a Yes".

Bennett slumped down on his chair.

He could see the Harmattan weather of the early November weather clinging to his wall glass.

Even the merry-go-round bells, could be heard jingling and ready for Christmas Eve.

He hated Christmas... In as much as Christmas was celebrated.

He hated it.

He sighed... As he watched the M&C Printer Machine print out numerous papers from the A4 printing Area.

The Modelling thing... Was even better though, it wasn't even essential but he needed one.

A Model for the Company Wallpaper.

He picked up his phone and dialed a number.

"Tell the Designing Department to forget about the Model. I'll search for one." He said.

"And make sure to get me a Model, Ryan." Bennett said, and hang up.

He undid his tie, as he heaved a deep breath.

The meeting had soon ended, and Octavia rolled her eyes.

She stood up to leave..when she heard the voice of her father say.

Rather the voice of a stranger.

"Don't you think it'll be better father if Octavia leaves the Company to her brothers?"

"I mean she's busy with her modeling work and all". Her father said.

She silently chuckled, clenching her fist tightly... Till her, hands were white and pale.

"Don't you think so, father?" He asked again, getting no response from the older man.

"No, only if she says. it's too stressful." Her Grandfather answered, staring at her.

She smiled, as she unclench her palms... Her knuckles were already white.

"Don't worry Grandpa, no one is taking my throne." She said, with a smile.. as she walked away.

"See! She's not stressed!" Her Grandfather chuckled.

Octavia's eyes darkened.. as she walked out of the Mansion.

Damn! She felt like Killing someone right there.

She heaved a deep breath of calmness and turned to Shirley.

"Let's get out of here before I do something crazy." She mumbled, and the female guard nodded.

They both walked out of the Mansion to the parking lot, where their car was parked.

She walked into the Mercedes and whistled.

"Where to Shirley?" She asked.

"Uhmm... Where do you want to go?" Shirley asked, giggling.

"Anywhere that is quiet... And the river is peaceful as well." Octavia answered, and Shirley clicked her finger.

"I know where that is." She smiled, as she ignited the engine of the car.

* * * *

The river was peaceful as she had described... and no single soul was walking around the place.

Octavia smiled...

"Why didn't you tell me about this place before, Shirley?" She asked.

"I just remembered too." Shirley answered as she watched the water waves go up and down.

Octavia took a seat by the side of the river bank.

Her eyes glimmered with excitement as she watched the peaceful sight in front of her.

Her gaze shifted to the part of the Moss.

She could see small ants with different wing colors fly out of the Bogs.

The green plants shone with their natural color, as they brighten up the whole place.

A sight to behold.

"Wow! it's amazing here."

"It would've been magnificent if there were fireflies... but it's still noon." Shirley chuckled.

"Yeah! I know right? It would have been incredible." Octavia nodded, to Shirley's words.

"Shine bright like a diamond". Her phone ringing tone jerked her up from the fantasy that was going on in her head.

Octavia glanced at the screen and picked up the call.

"Hello Manager." She said, as her face lit up immediately.

"Huh? Stone's Corporation!! Needs a Model?" She asked again, scratching her head.

"Yes Tavia, it's urgent... and it's an Online Interview."

"Are you doing it?" The manager asked.

"How much is it, Manager? Stop getting jobs without talking about the payment..."

"Thirty Million Dollars!" The Manager replied, and her words got hung up in her throat.

"Thirty? Thirty!! Thirty Million Dollars??" She asked again, with widened eyes.

Who would pay Thirty Million Dollars just for a Modelling Shoot?

Was that person just showing off or what? She thought.

"Which company is it again?" She asked.

"Stone's Corporation. Now get your @ss to straighten up and get over that interview so we'd do something better." Her Manager scolded.

"Yes, Mrs. Cheng." Octavia replied as she cut the call.

"Wow! That was Huge." She smiled.

She went online quickly and clicked the link her manager had sent.

It was an Audio Online Interview.

"Hello, This is Octavia Stiles...." talking. She said, professionally.

"Good afternoon Miss Stiles!" The voice she heard was more far than Heavenly.
