Daisy took the bold steps to walk into that office, as she could feel her legs trembling underneath her. It took a lot of energy to push the door open and she wondered why the door was that hard, perhaps, that was just her being nervous and anxious. She shivered as her first foot stepped into the office.
Some part of her in a big way, wanted to turn around and run away as fast as she could and damn the consequences, forget about the pay, forget about the job, forget about the sweet rates. She had never felt this way before. She felt that it got scarier, the closer she went. The other part of her waved it off and convinced herself that the fear was only based on the rumour she might have heard in the past and not based on reality. She had to remind herself what she stood to have as a secretary of the CEO and what she could achieve with the title alone. So, with boldness, she walked into that office, shoulders raised up in utmost courage, face focused and ready to tear down any questions and whatever that could come her way. As soon as she walked in, she felt that intense aura when the CEO walked past her earlier and it dawned on her that her friend Suzy might be right about what she told her. There was only one way she could find out! "I need a secretary as fast as possible, when did you schedule the interview Mark? That was the first thing she hears as she entered the office. "In two days time sir. On Friday, so that she can resume by Monday, if the interview was successful and accepted by the CEO sir." Mark replied abruptly. "In two days? Are you sleeping or something? I just said that I need a secretary as soon as possible and not just a secretary, I need whoever to work as my personal assistant." The CEO said, in an angry manner. Then, he turned to Daisy, "Have you read the terms and conditions? Daisy was taken aback by the question, as she wasn't expecting any questions from him, since he was having a conversation with the Mark, perhaps the application guy.She cursed quietly under her breathe, then stammered. "Well, sir .. I err, I uhm." She paused, cleared her throat sharply, then replied firmly. "No sir, but if I could get a hold of one now, I could do justice to it! She replied. After that, she wondered where the boldness came from. The CEO dropped the pen he held and stared at her briefly. "Hmmm... Are you ready to begin work today? I don't have any time to waste." "Yes sir! If I could get few minutes off to take breakfast in-between work time. I could start working immediately." Daisy answered unwavering. Still staring at her, he said "Mark, get the company's brochure and the manual contract now!As soon as he finished his statement, Mark dashed out of the office. Daisy could sense a little sign of relief from him as he left the sight of the sadist of a man, or should he say, the monster? She composed herself and assured herself that it wouldn't be as difficult as the world around them made it look like. She convinced herself into believing that even if he was a monster, she was going to break him and take him to be a human, that is if humans can be tamed! "What is your name? The Ceo, Mr Dash asked, jolting her from her kingdom of imagination. "Ohh. I am Daisy sir. Daisy Omorh. I am the first daughter and the first child of my parents, though my dad is late now, but my mom is still alive and kicking." "Good for her, unfortunately, I only asked for your name."That was when she realized that Mark had returned with the brochure and the manual contract. Mark handed the brochure over to her, while she took it.Mark stood by the side as she opened the brochure and scaneed through. "Flip to page 15. Check the terms and conditions involved in working with the CEO. I specifically put that there. You have five minutes to do that and give me your response. Then, we can proceed to the next step. Sit! Daisy sat down on the chair just across him as she flipped to the page number he had mentioned.Something caught her attention, she saw a part that stated that the CEO has the right to dictate to the secretary every activity of each day if needs be that the activities were changed. Another aspect that got her captivated was the part that says, the secretary does not have a working time frame. "I have a question." Daisy said, raising her hands. "Refer that to Mark." Daisy turned to Mark and asked, "no working time frame, what does that mean?Mark hesitated a little before he responded, "well, that means that you cannot leave when other workers does, except permitted by the CEO. you don't have any closing hour or time."Daisy nodded as she reflected back to what Suzy said about working all night just to make sure that a particular work is done. After a little while, Daisy spoke up. "I am ready to work sir! The CEO nodded at Mark and he handed the manual contract to her. The manual contract contained options for her name, age, address and some personal information. She filled each one of them as fast as she could, careful not to make any mistake which could ruin the business. After filling the contract, she gave it back to Mark, who in turn submitted it to the CEO to complete the final signing and stamping of the manual contract. As soon as he was done, he handed it back to Mark who took it judiciously from him.The CEO received a call which took a little time of the partial interview phase. He dropped the call and turned to Mark. "Work on that immediately." Then to Daisy, "You start tomorrow. Mark will give you some heads-up on some basics you need to know. You two can leave." Both Mark and Daisy left the office almost simultaneously. Daisy could feel her heart racing so fast as she walked out. Mark locked the door behind him and walked back to his own desk. "Mr. Mark. Uhm, I know this might not be the right question to ask but, is he always like this? So cold and ill mannered? Mark smiled calmly, "Daisy, right? She nodded. "Yes, correct". "I'm not in a position to answer such questions, but yes, he is. You don't have to be afraid alright, just do the jobs assigned to you as fast as you can and without mistakes. That is how you can keep out of trouble from him." Daisy sighed coldly. "That's a scary revelation. I hope I will cope with him." She said dryly. "I won't say it will be an easy job, I have been acting as his secretary since the last one left after her contract expired. It hasn't been easy, but I assure you that you can cope. I will contact you on W******p since I have your details, all you have to do is meet me if you encounter any issue." "Thank you Mr. Mark, I won't easily forget this kind gestures of yours." "You are welcome, but just call me Mark, no need for the formalities." "Okay, I will keep that in mind."Daisy walked into the elevator, her files held firmly in her left hand. She got a cab as soon as she got out of the building and headed home. She just had a shower and was about taking breakfast around 1pm, when she heard a beep on her phone. She took it up to check what it was.She screamed when she saw it. A sum of $1000 has been transferred to her from the company, with the narration, "THE STORM HAS JUST BEGUN!The house shone with liveliness after the Omorhs moved in. Furnitures being arranged, the interior decorators moving here and there to make sure everything was placed properly, just where their client wanted. The truck carrying some of the new purchased properties arrived with their agents to help offload them. Everywhere seemed busy and quite rowdy, till about a few hours later, towards the evening. Mrs. Rachel made sure to supervise each work and confirmed every successful task done before paying the balance of the agreed payment. In no time, the house became quiet when the agents and other workers left, leaving Mrs. Rachel with her sons, Maxwell, Daniel and Jacob. They returned from their apartment the previous day to help out with the relocation and packing in. All thanks to Daisy, they were able to move out from their old house to the new place, which was lively and more suitable to live in. "At this point, I feel like leaving our house in school and coming back
She unlocked the door, singing happily as she sauntered into the house, clutching her bag and a shopping package Nathan had gotten for her. Apparently, she had said yes to his proposal, so they were officially a thing. She sighted Stacy from the sitting room and hurried over to help her out. "Oh my goodness! She said loudly, almost in a scream. What happened to you? Why are you on the floor? Daisy asked very much concerned about her.Stacy limped slightly after getting up, with the help of Daisy. "I actually slipped few minutes ago and when I heard you, I became too lazy to get up." She lied. Daisy noticed the bruise on her forehead and wondered what could have really happened. "Stacy, your forehead, what happened to you? She asked, touching there lightly.Stacy immediately moved away slowly from her and covered her face with her palm. "Daisy, I said I'm fine. I only slipped. I guess I hit my head on the table at the process of falling." She replied harshly, not want
Sitting in front of his laptop in his room which was partly dark, with only a gasoline lamp that lit the room. He stared at the laptop, fascinated by what he was seeing. He grabbed a pack of popcorn sitting on the table in front of him, then sat back to chew. He stared at the laptop for a while marvelled at the description of his new assignment. He had been asked to track a particular lady and keep tabs on her, find out everything about her and everyone connected to her. It was funny to him that two of his clients were paying differently to make use of that same woman. His job was to work for all of his clients, despite the work demands, as far as it came with a very good pay. That was Lomar, the hitman. His parents had abandoned, rather, disowned him when he was still a teenager. He joined gangs from quite a tender age and every plea, punishments and torture didn't change him, but made him worse. As soon as he clocked twenty, he left home to stay with his friends in a
She grabbed her work pad and started going through the tasks. She noticed that most of the tasks she left unattended to had been taken care of. She was really glad and grateful to whoever helped her. Thinking about it, she wondered who could have done that. CEO Dash would never in his entire life handle anything that concerned her, not after wishing her dead, she sighed. "Hold on, what if he hired someone else to replace me? She gasped, as she came to the realisation that she was easily replaceable. "Oh no, did he call me to retract my contract? Her heart skipped a millionth times.Though she wished to do away with the job, deep down, she wanted it. The job had given her access to the kind of life she had only dreamt of. She sent money home weekly each time she got her pay and had been able to save some enormous amount of money like never before. She had about five more weeks to go. She prayed her hallucinations do not turn out to become a reality, as that would be a tough one
Daisy woke up in a start, disturbed by the noise from the bathroom, she couldn't go back to sleep again even though she tried. "Oh, you're awake? Stacy asked, drying her wet hair as she strolled into the room, from the bathroom. Daisy yawned lightly. "Yeah, I'm awake, big thanks to you." She replied, still on bed.Stacy stared at her, confused by the remark she had made. "What do you mean by that? Daisy got up from the bed and headed to the bathroom. "You were noisy." She answered, dragging her legs. Realising what Daisy meant she apologised. "I'm really sorry D, I didn't mean to." She said loudly so she could hear. Daisy came back to the room and sat on the bed, staring at Stacy. She noticed that she behaved a little awkward and weird, which she found suspicious. "Stacy, are you good? She asked, making it obvious that she didn't fancy the new her, if there was anything as that.Stacy smiled faintly and nodded, too weak to fake a broad smile. "Actually, I'
CEO Dash dash was seated in his private lounge in his house, a glass of wine in his hand. He sipped calmly, as he thought about how to work on something that had been bothering him. He had asked Nathan and some of his trusted allies to help him out, but all had proved abortive. He knew they had done a good job, but needed something much better than the casual responses he had been getting. It had been several weeks since he heard from his mother. His other siblings had said the same thing when he had called to complain to them. Each time he called, he would always be redirected to voicemail and he got scared. He needed to see his mother, she was the one he could easily share his ordeal with whenever he was having any issues whatsoever. His father had said that she was in her private vacation home, which she had purchased secretly, hoping to stay there and recover fully before returning home. He didn't trust his father one bit, especially coupled with the fact that he d
