"Sit down, Robert." Mich took the seat opposite him. For a moment, neither man spoke. Finally, Robert leaned forward. "I wasn't sure you would come yourself." "You said you had information about my accident. I'm listening." Robert swallowed. "I worked in the finance department before the accident. Your uncle asked me to arrange several payments through a company that didn't officially do business with the Ethan Group." "Why?" "He said it was for a private acquisition. Vivian had been married to Patel Ethan for almost two weeks, but she was beginning to realize that being the wife of a wealthy man wasn't as wonderful as she had imagined. That morning, she woke up alone. She reached for her phone and checked the time. It was past eight, yet Patel hadn't returned to their bedroom. Annoyed, she got out of bed and went downstairs. She found him in the dining room, speaking on the phone while drinking coffee. "No, baby. I'll see you tonight," he said before ending the call. Vivian stopped walking. "Who were you talking to?" Patel glanced at her. "Good morning to you too." "Patel, I asked you a question." "Someone from work." "Someone from work calls you baby?" He put down his cup. "Are we seriously going to start arguing this early in the morning?" Vivian folded her arms. "I'm your wife. I think I have the right to know who you're talking to." "And I think I have the right to make a phone call without being interrogated." H

What about you?""Very well." She picked up her handbag. "I've already eaten, so I'm leaving soon."Mich glanced at the clock. "Your shift starts at nine, doesn't it?""Yes. And if I don't leave now, I'll be late.""Then go. I'll see you tonight."Lily smiled and hurried out.Mich waited until he heard the front door close before calling Emma into his study."Did you find the person who contacted my uncle before the accident?"Emma placed a file on his desk. "Yes. His name is Robert Hayes. He worked with the company at the time, but he resigned shortly after the accident.""Where is he now?""We're still confirming his location. However, we found a financial transfer from one of your uncle's private accounts to a company registered under Robert's name."Mich opened the file.He studied the documents care

Lily dropped her handbag onto the sofa. "I'm exhausted."Mich closed his laptop. "How did it go?""About as well as I expected."She sat beside him and told him about her father's meeting. Lily stared at her phone for several seconds before answering."Hello, Dad.""Come to my house tomorrow morning. I need to discuss something with you."Her father's voice was as cold as ever.Lily adjusted her position on the sofa. "Is everything okay?""I didn't call you to discuss my personal affairs. Just be here by ten."Before she could ask another question, the call ended.Lily lowered her phone slowly.Mich, who had been listening without interrupting, noticed the change in her expression."Was that your father?"She nodded."What did he want?""He asked me to visit tomorrow.""Did he say why?""No." Lily forced a small smile. "Maybe he finally remembers he has another daughter."Mich studied her face. She had tried to make the comment sound like a joke, but he could hear the disappointment beneath it."Do you want me to go with you?" he asked.Lily turned toward him, surprised."You?""Is there something wrong with that?""No, it's just..." She paused, unsure how to explain he
