Nicholas POV
"How did you get in here, Mer?" You know that women aren't allowed in here," I cautioned. "Nick, I just wanted to spend time with you. As the alpha of our pack, you need a female touch; you need to be taken care of." Who told her that it was her touch that I wanted? I could smell her thirst for me, and it was nauseating. I wish she could get it through her thick skull that I don't need a woman in my life. I am fine the way I am. I don't want history to repeat itself. Since I lost them, I have made a promise to myself and the moon goddess that I won't let something like that happen again. I mind-linked my guard Josiah to come quickly, blocking her from feeling it. I wanted him to act like he wanted to check up on me, without offending the thirsty female beside me. Although I knew that he would see hell later, I was comforted by the knowledge that it wouldn't be for me. "My alpha, are you alright? I wanted to check up on you before I go to bed officially." I did not wait for him to finish before I ushered him in. An annoyed Meredith quickly picked up her clothes, swearing profanity at him. "I am so sorry Alpha; I didn't know that you were not alone," his eyes twitched while looking in between me and Meredith. "Sorry for yourself, you bastard," she swore at him. "You did this on purpose, didn't you?" she asked her hands on her waist. "He called you to come, and you did exactly that. We shall see," she snapped her fingers at him, put her clothes on, and walked out of my room. I hope this will teach her not to try this again. My name is Nicholas Hoult. I am the Alpha of Crescent Pack, the most feared alpha alive. The person who just left now is Meredith, my childhood friend, and Alpha Jay's daughter. I have heard people refer to me as a ruthless alpha. The reason is that, if you are guilty of any crime, I won't hesitate to melt the necessary punishment on you, regardless of who you are. "I am sorry, Alpha, for doing that. I didn't know that you are not alone. I didn't mean to spoil your fun," Josiah said, bending his head to avoid looking into my eyes. "Don't be Josiah; I called you here, didn't I?" I smirked. "It is all good. Tell me, will my father be coming back today like he said?" I asked him. "He said that he will be coming back first thing tomorrow morning, something about having little hiccups on the way." I was bothered to hear that. "What happened to him, Josiah? Is he alright?" "Yes, my alpha, he said that one of the slaves was at the point of death when he found her. The healer ordered her not to be moved for a day so that her recovery could be monitored." "She is sick? What is Father still doing with someone who is dying? He should have just tossed her to the ground and let her die, I said to myself, forgetting that Josiah was still standing there. "That will be all, Josiah. I would like to be alone." He bowed and left. I decided to find out from my father what happened. As much as he is still strong and active, I couldn't help worrying about him. When he gave up his position to me and decided to travel around the world, I was worried about what could have prompted him to make such a decision. My father was always a weirdo. He never liked being the leader; he hated wars and did his best to avoid them. It was as if after my mother and sister died, a part of him was ripped apart forever. "Where are you, father?" I mind-linked him. "I am a little closer to mountain pack. I had a little problem. One of my slaves is badly injured," he said to me. "You should have left her there. Why do you bother yourself so much about her? Just toss her down and be on your way." "Son, I can't do that; she is worth ten of my slaves," he boasted. I was surprised to hear that from him. "Who is she?" I pondered. "I will be fine, little devil; I will be home, tomorrow morning." "Alright, stay safe," I cut the link. Here we go with the nicknames. My father has always called me 'little devil' since I was little. I wish he knew how ridiculous it is to call a six-foot giant of a man little when there was nothing little about me. I went around checking everything to make sure that it was in order before they got back. Satisfied with everything, I went back to my room and slept off. The next morning, I was awoken by the bell. Josiah usually rang that bell to signify my father's heroic return. I quickly dressed up and went out. Outside, I was told that he was already in his room resting and that the slaves were all locked up, including the one who was so sick. My wolf was restless. Speed, my wolf, has never been this restless. There was a particular scent in the sky that I could not pinpoint. I quickly ordered that the slaves be brought out so that I could speak with them. My father won't be doing that. There were fifteen of them, yet I noticed only one of them. Her hair was longer, framing her little face; her eyes were icy blue and confused. She was a little on the shorter side. I will probably feel like a giant standing next to her, although I am not worried about that. I am sure that I will fit into her perfectly. I quickly shook off such thought. Immediately she passed me, her scent became stronger, and I heard Speed cry out; "Mate!" I was rattled standing near her. I fought every attempt of speed to claim her. I tried reasoning with him that we don't need her, but all that fell on deaf ears. I started reading the rules to them while walking around to calm myself down. She kept staring at me like she was lost. I noticed that she was restless, and the weird thing about her was that, once I came closer to her, she had another scent that was not wolf-like. I don't know what that is, but I will find out now. I moved closer to her face, my teeth fully bared and my eyes blazing red. "What the fuck are pup?" I raged, lifting her face. She shivered once she noticed me sniffing her neck like she was cold under my scrutiny. Her eyes immediately flickered a green light, just like it never happened; her eyes turned blue again. I was thrown off by forces beyond my control. If I weren't such a powerful alpha, I would have been on the floor by now. I was pushed back instead. I managed to hold myself using my toes. The evil girl had a smirk on her pretty face. "Sorry, Alpha," she mouthed, still smiling.Nick's POV"I saw the person going inside his house that day," said Meredith."Who was it?" I growled impatiently, standing up."It is one of the new slaves that just arrived; I saw him entering his room; he was breathing heavily and sweating profusely.""How did you deduce that he was the one?" I asked her to be sure."He acted suspicious; he looked around like he needed to verify that no one was watching him. I hid when I saw him, making sure that he didn't see me before he entered," she replied."What was his name, Meredith I asked, keeping my anger in check.""Mark!" immediately I heard that name, I didn't know how I got to his room.Josiah was the one who arrested him because he knew that I and speed itched to kill him."We need to get the whole truth out of him Alpha. We can't do anything until then" he said to me.They imprisoned him, keeping enough men to make sure he didn't escapeI was almost getting ready to go home to her. I couldn't wait to finish signing the
Mountain Pack. Luna Kayana's POVI have been restless ever since that dog left. According to him, his alpha sent him to issue us a warning—the audacity.I am glad that Mira will be gone finally. I can't believe I failed to get rid of her the first time. This time around I will make sure she stays dead."Your Highness," I heard my guard Philippe's greetings, bringing me out of my thoughts."What is it, Philippe?" I was not in the mood to see him."Your Highness, I just got a word from Mark; he needs help getting out of the pack.""What!" I thundered, breaking the new table."What happened? Was his mission successful?"The look on his face answered my questions for me before he could reply."I am sorry that we failed you, my Luna, but Mark was unsuccessful in his attempt to get rid of her.""What happened?" I fumed."It was the Alpha; he rescued her," he responded.I was so angry that I started pacing, "Nicholas has bitten more than he can chew. Send help to
Nick's PovI was exhausted from running around all day long. I was in a meeting for three long, boring hours listening to my men and father talk about Alpha Jax and his empty threats.I didn't have time to see Mira today. Normally I visited her morning and night to make sure that she was alright.I remembered our little squabble before Mildred interrupted us.That little pest, poking her nose where it is not needed.A smile lit my face as her face appeared in my mind. I shivered when I remembered how she responded to my touch and how her glistening and gorgeous lips drew closer to mine.I pondered on what would have happened if we hadn't been interrupted.Would we have stopped just kissing, or would we have taken it further?I know I said I didn't want her but I can't seem to keep my hands to myself whenever I am around her.It is like a magnetic force is pulling me closer to her every day.Although she is one of the most difficult, stubborn, and hotheaded females I have ever seen, I
Mira's POVThe two days after my encounter with death, moved slowly. I couldn't wait to get back on my feet. I hated staying in bed all day long.Nicholas visited a lot. His countenance was always serious, and that made me wonder if it was due to Josiah's news.I needed to know when he would attack Mountain Pack and how to stop it. I was torn between protecting my people and being loyal to Nick. Although I hated their leaders, especially my evil stepmother, there were innocent people like Austin's family and his friends. They didn't deserve to die. I know what Nick is capable of, and I have seen it to know what will happen if he were to attack them.I needed to find out more about why he hated Mountain Pack.My hands were completely healed, and I didn't need to be bandaged anymore, so I could move around freely. Gladly I was able to survive the steel dagger to the heart.I knocked at Mildred's door, hoping she was around for me to talk to her.Immediately, I heard
Mira's POVWe were in a training field. He was in his favorite fighting garb of red and black. His hair was almost white. He had a little scar on his face. His laugh line was visible as he extended his hand to me."Come on Snowflower, stand up, my father said to me."If you fall, you stand up. There is no room for failure in the Constance family. I told you, my darling, you are stronger than you can ever imagine." "You are special, my love. I love you, sweetheart.""I love you too, Richard," I smiled at him."Snowflower, what did I tell you about calling me by my name? I know you picked it from your mom, but don't call me that.""I like calling you Richard, Richard," I grinned. His face turned into a frown; it then broke into a smile eventually. He patted me on my head."You have so much to learn, Snowflower. One day you will be a great leader; till then, you have to be strong for me.""What you are, don't fear it; embrace it. You are much more than what you are; I wish I
Mira's POVWe arrived very late in the pack.Nick wanted us not to take Austin with us. The reason is that he doesn't trust someone that looks shifty.Sebastian, one of the warriors, tries to convince him that the pack needs a wolf that fights like Austin does.I couldn't agree more with him.Austin is a terrific fighter in human or wolf form," I said to him."He has been locked up in their cell; who knows whether they broke him and are trying to use him as their spy" Nick warned. He was right to be suspicious about that part, but I am not leaving without my best friend. I lost him once; I am not going to lose him again. After much persuasion, mostly with me threatening not to go anywhere without him, Nick finally conceded to take Austin with us.We arrived and met angry Meredith and elated Mildred and Alpha Leo.The new slaves were taken to the cell till the initiation ceremony.I wasn't too happy to see Austin in a cell, but because I knew the reason why they did it, I di
