*MIKAYLA’S POV* "Good morning beautiful," he extends a charming lopsided smile. My head whips up to see Forbes descending the stairs wearing ripped black rip jeans and a burgundy t-shirt that clung to his athletic build. *MIKAYLA’S POV* It's been nine days since Alpha Heron was in the hospital. The cottage was surprisingly light and quiet without his presence. Sage does not even bring home any she-wolves. Most days he was in Heron's office working his ass off. While Forbes mainly goes to the training ground with Axel and assists Sage in the areas that require it. My duties remain the same, but I go to the hospital daily to see Alpha Heron. I ensure that the nurses change his bedsheets. Then I read and sing to him, and most importantly, I keep his face and hair trimmed and clean. I thought he might wake up when he realized my annoying presence was constantly around him. MIKAYLA’S POV* Ever since I began working at the cottage, my heartbeat has never been regular. The heightened anxiety, the wariness, and the fear, all caused my heart to palpitate every day. When you combine that with working with a bipolar Alpha, you get a she-wolf with severe panic episodes. How is it that I was supposed to be a prize? MIKAYLA'S POV* “Yes, Mikayla,” Axel pulled my focus to himself, but I forgot why I came into his office in the first place based on the other party in the room. Releasing a deep breath, I said, “I have to go home and make the Alpha’s dinner.” I cast my head to the right, keeping my view on the filing cabinets near the corner of the room as I spoke to avoid the two pairs of piercing eyes in the room. “I’d like to head back now.” Axel chuckled, so I sent him a hard look. Then he said with a straight face, “I agree. You should go home and take care of your Alpha.” “Thank you,” I politely turned on my heels.
