DANTE’S POV

“Valentina.” My voice was sharp, low. “Move.”

She smirked, leaning in closer, ignoring the warning in my tone.

“Relax, Dante. I was just saying hello. We were close once…” Her voice was soft, sultry, dripping with memories I didn’t care to revisit.

I shifted, placing my hand on her waist, not to pull her closer, but to firmly, discreetly push her back. “You’re playing a dangerous game.”

“I like games,” she whispered.

“Not this one.”

My patience was a thread, stretched thin. I removed her hand from my chest with calculated precision, keeping my expression unreadable. Eyes were on us. Always watching.

But something tugged at my awareness...a shift in the air.

I glanced up in time to see her.

Leona.

Her expression was unreadable, but the tightness in her jaw, the fire in her eyes… I knew that look.

And then she was gone, turning on her heel and striding out of the hall without a single glance back.

A slow, dark curse slipped under my breath.

“Valentina,” I said, my voice shar

Dante’s POVThe party carried on like nothing had happened. Laughter, splashes in the pool, champagne flutes clinking under the sun. But something had shifted. I felt it before I even saw it.Leona sat beside Gianna now, her sarong drawn tightly around her waist. She looked composed, perfectly poised. Too poised. The way her lips curved in polite amusement, the way her hands rested delicately on her lap, controlled. But I knew her better than anyone in this place. The tightness around her eyes gave her away. She wasn’t fine.I excused myself from Alex with a hand on his shoulder, ignoring his ramble about shipment routes, and crossed the pool deck. People parted easily for me, their conversations dipping just slightly as I passed. Power was like gravity, it pulled eyes whether you wanted it or not.“Enjoying yourself, bella?” My shadow fell over her as I stopped by her chair.Leona glanced up at me, her expression smooth. Too smooth. “Of course.”I studied her. Sunlight painted her sk

LEONA’S POVI woke up to warmth. Not the gentle, safe kind of warmth, but the kind that made my pulse spike and my thighs clench before my brain even caught up.The first thing I registered was a body. Hard muscle, radiating heat, pressed against me like a living furnace. My cheek rested against the bare chest, heartbeat steady beneath my ear. And then… lower. That's when it clicked. Dante's body.Something big, thick and solid nudged against me...no, against my bare skin. My breath hitched as realization struck like a lightning bolt: my silky nightdress had ridden up in my sleep, bunched around my waist, and I wasn’t wearing panties. His briefs… well, let’s just say they weren’t exactly containing him because I could feel the tip.And I was moving.God. I’d been grinding against him in my sleep, my slickness gliding over the tip of him. The evidence was undeniable, the heat pooling between my legs, the tension in his body, the way his hips had gone rigid under me. I started praying a

LEONA’S POVThe master suite was quiet, too quiet.I shut the door behind me and leaned against it, my heart still unsettled from the way Dante’s thumb had brushed my jaw, like I was something precious. My heels lay abandoned by the bed, and I padded barefoot across the cool hardwood, trying to shake off the night. The weight of everything pressed in at once. The way Valentina’s hand had lingered on Dante. The way I’d stormed out like a jealous fool. The way his mouth had claimed mine outside, rough and possessive, until my body had melted against his despite my pride.I sank onto the edge of the bed, burying my face in my hands. I should feel relieved that he left so calmly, that he trusted Marcello enough to step away.Marcello.He’d been nothing but polite to me since the day I arrived, his presence quiet but commanding and protective, a steady shadow at Dante’s side. He reminds me of what i thought Luca was.I crossed to the window, pulling the heavy curtains back just enough to p

Leona's POV My breath came out sharp as he tilted my chin, forcing me to meet his eyes. His grip wasn’t harsh, but it was unyielding, a command, not a request.“You saw her hands on me,” he said, voice a low rumble, his Italian accent curling around every word. “But you didn’t see me move her away the second she tried. You didn’t see how I nearly broke her wrist for touching me. You didn’t see how I wanted to rip her throat out for making you look at me like this.”My lips parted, but my retort died in my throat at the fire in his eyes, cold, dangerous, yet anchored in something so fierce it made my pulse stutter.“Dante...”He stepped closer, pressing my back against the cool metal of the car. “No,” he interrupted softly, though his tone carried weight that silenced me instantly. “You’re angry. Good. But don’t you ever doubt me.”My heart thundered in my chest as his breath ghosted over my cheek, his hand sliding to my waist, fingers splaying possessively over my hip. I could feel t

  • THE DON'S FAVORITE OBSESSION    Chapter 16: A Seat at the Table

Leona's POV The double doors swung open, and the hum of conversation faltered like a record needle scratching to a halt.I stepped in first, Dante a shadow at my side. The glittering chandeliers above bathed the room in gold, but the glow did nothing to warm the ice in the air.Every head turned. Some faces wore polite masks, others poorly hidden scowls. She didn’t need to hear the murmurs to know what they were saying...Why is she here? She doesn’t belong. The hall was grand, the scent of expensive wine mingling with gun oil and cigar smoke. Men in sharp suits sat beside women dripping in diamonds, but there was a predator’s stillness in their posture, like wolves watching prey.Dante moved with unshakable calm, his hand lightly guiding me forward, his presence commanding respect without a single word. The subtle incline of his head silenced a few whispers, but the hostility didn’t fade. Then came the click of stilettos.Valentina strolled in, a vision of perfection in crimson satin
