(Alphonso's POV)

In an effort to ease my guilt, I had booked the best hospital room for Lily. I even started working at her hospital room just so I could be with her, protect her, and I would go home and spend time with our son, who kept asking about his mother, and I didn't know how to explain what was going on with his mom.

I had been ignoring calls from the police, who were still trying to talk to me for some reason.

Between running around between the office, hospital, hotel we were staying at, and home, where the police had left the mess for me to clean up, it didn't help me when I saw just how hard Lily had fought to keep Frank safe. The blood trail that showed me how she dragged herself from one room to Frank's room just to make sure he was safe.

“There you are.” I heard someone say.

I turned around to find Detective Smith standing behind me.

“Where is your partner?” I asked as I continued to look at the mess the house was in.
